A Strong Hospital for a Strong Community As 2017 drew to a close, two dramatic events—the Thomas Fire and the onset of a serious flu epidemic— demonstrated once again how fortunate we in the Ojai Valley are to have our own hospital that stands ready to serve us at all times despite the most trying conditions. Although non-ambulatory hospital and Continuing Care Center patients were evacuated as a precautionary measure during the fire, our hospital and Emergency Department remained up and running as always. The availability of hospital services became particularly meaningful to the community as road closures restricted and occasionally prevented travel in and out of the Valley.

Here for you
The outbreak of flu cases, coming on the heels of the fire, brought a steady stream of patients to the Emergency Department for treatment, with some of
them requiring hospitalization. The convenience of the hospital, with its well-trained and capable staff, proved its worth to Ojai once again. Thanks to our partnership with the Ojai community and Community Memorial Health System, we can feel assured that our hospital will be here and able to care for us, our families and neighbors well into the future. A strong community deserves a strong hospital. The future remained at the top of the Hospital Foundation agenda during 2017 as we watched the new Continuing Care Center move closer to completion. The 75-bed facility will provide not only quality long-term care in a more spacious and modern setting, but will offer a full range of rehabilitation services. It should also generate a steady revenue stream for our nonprofit hospital. We look forward to a CCC opening by year-end 2018 or early 2019.
Your Hospital at Work Our nonprofit Ojai Valley Community Hospital, part of Community Memorial Health System, furnished a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services in 2017:
