About the Zeta Organizational Leadership Program

What’s the Difference between ZOL Training and ZOL Certification?

he Zeta Organizational Leadership (ZOL) program is a future-focused, nationally structured intensified leadership training program that serves as the blue print for the Sorority’s leadership development and enhancement efforts. It was designed to ensure a future talent pool of leadership for Zeta on the national level of our Sorority by delivering consistent, high quality training. It was developed by a think tank of talented Sorors from diverse backgrounds who are experts in their respective fields and are serving and have served at the highest levels within Zeta and others organizations.

ZOL Training

T

The overarching goal of the ZOL program is to provide Zetas with the essential knowledge and skills to be exceptional leaders within and as a natural result, outside of Zeta. It is wholly focused on training Zetas who are currently in leadership positions and who want to become leaders. The target audiences for this program include, but are not limited to: • Sorors aspiring to be national elected officers • Sorors interested in being appointed to regional and/or state directors • Current elected and appointed Local chapter officers – graduate and undergraduate • Sorors aspiring to be elected and appointed regional and state officers • Advisors to undergraduate chapters • Sponsors and coordinators of Zeta Amicae and Youth Auxiliaries • Sorors aspiring to be leaders at any level of the Sorority

The Zeta Organizational Leadership training is designed to give you an overall knowledge about the organization. It is designed to help you become more proficient in understanding Zeta’s organizational practices, policies, procedures, and customs. More importantly, it is a training that invokes critical thinking abilities which is at the core of effective leadership. This course is specifically designed to give new Sorors as well as experienced Sorors who have not served in authoritative roles within the organization, an overall understanding of the inner workings of Zeta and how you contribute to its betterment as a leader.

Advanced Leadership Training **NEW**

You asked, we answered! This course is designed specifically for the Soror who has already completed the ZOL Certification course and is experienced in many aspects of Zeta but wants to further her develop her knowledge and skills. More in-depth and intensive coverage of leadership roles and responsibilities, organizational structure and culture, and what makes you go from good to great are all aspects of this two day immersion course. Please note: You must have already been ZOL Certified to register for this course.

ZOL Certification

ZOL Leadership Certification is one of the ZOL training program components. It is a method to prepare candidates for national elected office, and appointed regional and state directors (and those interested in serving in this capacity) to assume effective leadership roles through the practice of specific behaviors that enhance leadership performance. Completion of this certification curriculum means that a Soror is expected to perform at a high level of competency and exemplify leadership behaviors. She will also be deemed as having met one of the constitutional qualifications to run for National Elected Office.

Zeta Day on The Hill General Information Entering the Rayburn House Office Building •

Be prepared to go through metal detectors. The fewer bags you carry, the better.

When using the Independence Ave. entrance (which faces the Capitol): Go up the stair directly in front of you; follow the hall to the right, at the end of the hall turn right, then left and the room will be on your left.

When using the South Capitol St. entrance (closest to the Capitol South Metro (Blue/Orange Line), which is best for those who do not/can not climb stairs: Turn right out of security, then take the first left down a long hall, at the end of the hall use the elevators on the right, go down one floor to level B, turn right out of the elevator, right again, then left and the room will be on your left.

Preparing for Your Congressional Visit •

Confirm your Member of Congress by going to http://www. house.gov/. Fill in the Zip+4 info in the upper left corner. Click on the member’s name to get the phone number and Capitol Hill office number.

Call the office to schedule a meeting for September 15 with the member, or appropriate member of the staff.

Let the office know that you are a constituent and member of an organization that is meeting with several member offices that day. Let them know what issues you’d like to discuss. Share as much information as requested, and make sure they have a phone number/email to reach you to confirm the appointment.

Most meetings will be short, 10 to 15 minutes. You will be contacting the office during the end of a district work period, referred to as “recess.” As a result, some staffers/ schedulers will not be able to immediately schedule something. Be patient, and feel free to call back a couple of days before you plan to be on the Hill.
