6_ SUSTAINABILITY AND ENVIRONMENTAL ANALYSIS
The primary structures of the ERC, consist mostly of steel. Steel has high embodied energy in the process of making such as being required to be melted and cut. Furthermore, this material requires transportation which in turn creates carbon emissions. Compared to plywood, more carbon emissions are created, wood can also be recycled and reused easily whereas steel can not. This is due to the measurements of steel structure being very precise and could not usually be used for another building.
7_ECONOMICAL IMPLICATIONS OF DECISIONS
The benefits of usings steel include saving money through minimal waste, durability which means less maintenance required, good for spanning as less materials are used and lastly the time that can be saved during the construction process.
