INTERROGATION OF THE DETAILING DECISIONS · Weepholes: the gaps left between some bricks in external masonry walls. They serve two important purposes: 1.Ventilation of the internal wall cavity. 2.Drainage · Wall ties:important structural component that connect the inner and outer leaves in masonry veneer and cavity wall constructions;are essential to the stability of the normally unloaded outer leaf which can be affected by seismic events, direct wind forces and wind suction forces. ·Drip: resist the water from horizontal direction ·Flashing: cover the gaps, corners and two separate thing to keep the water out. COMPOSITION It’s just a service area composited by brick wall, concrete column and concrete floor. BUILDING PROCESS It’s kind of frame stage PROS AND CONS Pros Cons ·it uses drips and gavity flashing to keep ·weephole should be visible all the time the rain/stormwater out --- it’s a challenge ·it has insulation which can reduce the heat and sound SUSTAINABILITY AND ENVIRONMENTAL ANALYSIS (CARBON FOOTPRINT, EMBODIED ENERGY AND RECYCLABILITY) This service area uses concrete, bricks plastic sheet and PVC. All of this materials have hight embodied energy and carbon footprint, not only because they’re all artificial product which have to produce in the factory, but also have to transport from factory to the site. For recyclability, plastic sheet and PVC are bad for environment as they can not be degradated and be recycled. ECONOMIC IMPLICATIONS OF DECISIONS Concrete and plastic sheet are both cheape materials, and they are very easy to shape.
