THE BABADOOK

A chill settles over my room at night. An icy hand in the pale moonlight. A shadow moves from right to left, Of my rest tonight there has been a theft. The shadow settles and stands up tall, As it hides its face from the light of the hall. Though we have never met, I know him well, And of his existence I should never tell. But as I hide away in the refuge of my nook, I can never escape the gaze of the Babadook.

P r e d a t o r & Prey

Three beautiful women All pure at heart Lives yet to be lived Glowing with life So many hopes so many dreams Never could the future be foreseen

Preyed upon by a predator Like a rat in the night Watching with baited breath Under the Claremont street lights

Ready to pounce Presenting as a knight in shining armour But underneath is the devil in disguise

In the flash of an eye She is allured by his charm And just like that, She is gone

And the world cries

WEIRD THINGS HAVE BEEN FOUND IN WEIRD PLACES IN WOOP WOOP. ROAD CONES , COUCHES , SHOPPING TROLLIES, IN PLACES SUCH AS

Revenge of the Cattle

ON TOP OF PINE TREES, NEAR CLIFFS AND ON TOP OF THE CHURCH. STORES AROUND THE TOWN HAVE CAPTURED PEOPLE IN SUCH DISTRESS WALKING AROUND THE AT SUCH A LATE HOUR. SOME LOCALS HAVE EVEN SEEN THEMSELVES IN THESE RECORDINGS BEING UNABLE TO REMEMBER. THE FOOTAGE BEGINS TO SCATTER AND BLUR AROUND AT 3:33AM EACH MORNING WITH WHAT STORE OWNERS SAY SEEMS TO APPEAR A COW PRINT.

THE THEORY BEGINS WITH SUCH AN INTEREST IN THE DEMAND FOR DAIRY COWS AND THE CONDITIONS IN WHICH FARMERS ARE TREATING THESE ANIMALS. THE TOWN OF COWAMERUP IS MOST KNOWN FOR THE PLASTIC COWS AROUND THE MAIN STREET AND THE CELEBRATION OF COWS WHERE PEOPLE DRESS UP IN COW PRINT AND PARADE THE STREETS. SUCH CONTROVERSY IS ACHIEVED WHEN THIS CELEBRATION DOES NOT CONVEY THE WAY THESE ANIMALS ARE TREATED. IT’S BELIEVED TO SAY THESE PLASTIC COWS HAVE CREATED SUCH A SYSTEM TO SCARE THE LOCALS OF THE TOWN . STORE OWNERS SUGGEST THE THEORY THAT THESE PLASTIC COWS ARE POSSESSED BY THE SPIRITS OF THE DAIRY COWS AND USED PEOPLE TO MOVE OBJECTS AROUND THE TOWN.

UFO SIGHTING IN MADDINGTON, WA. 1960.

A beam in the night, Sailing, spinning silky light. Colours defying modern knowledge Reflecting down on Earth’s sparse foliage. The zap strikes near Cuts through and into the atmosphere, The hypnotic glow draw curious eyes, A futile second in sky Spreads secrets across decade. Conspiracy theorists awakening. Oval shaped, disk displaced, Is it evidence of others out in space? Or is it extra-terrestrial fraud? It was seen in Maddington, after all.

L a s s e t e r ’ s Reef A young man Living with big hopes and dreams Spends his long days digging in the sand The sun gets hotter And the thirst can’t be quenched The hole gets deeper and wider As does the storyline The only fame to be found Is in the claim Of gold beyond your wildest dreams But was is to be believed? The fabled gold reef Many have sought Only to turn up empty handed With nothing but dirt Broken shovels, broken stones, Broken bones and broken homes In days to come many men will try their hand Traveling a lifetime to claim the prize The same foolery The gold rush They eye on the prize The fools bluff But the only real gold left

GNOMES VILLE Origin unknown. The start undefined,

Several speculated beginnings. Where did they come from? All over the globe. How did they get here? It is not known. Only that they arrived, Only that they came. That they stayed. First a few, then a lot. Now an entire population, But at what cost? The little bodies gather in thousands, Silent in the sun. Until when the sky fades, And their figures blur in the dark Noises slowly arouse, Scheming at the blackest hour. Creaks, cracks and hoarse whispers Shadows darting to and fro Under the Wellington moon Cultivating their crew, Never too many, always too soon. 20

And when the dawn comes, Nothing is quite where it should be.

CELL NUMBER 1 “The most unusual thing that happened to me during my career as a policeman, happened one night as I was placing a suspect into a holding cell for the night. As I walked past all the cells, number 1 caught my attention. Inside was an old man, standing dead center in the cell, swaying slightly and refusing to break eye contact. I looked at him for a moment but moved along quickly, to avoid provoking him. Later that night I went to do my final rounds, but my stomach sank as I realized that cell number 1 was now empty. I frantically searched the halls and alerted all the staff on duty to keep an eye out for him, but checking the prisoner log only made matters worse. According to the log, the cell was unoccupied. Struggling to make sense of the situation, I ran to check the security cameras. The tapes were of me, standing, facing the empty cell, slowly swaying back and forth for a full 20 minutes and then calmly getting back to work as if nothing had happened.”
