24 HRS WITH AIDEN
Today I woke up in my hotel room. On the couch, again. The couch is alright, but goddamn I wish there was another bedroom. Oh well. Today was a day full of shopping and a night full of partying, because that’s just what you do when you’re on holiday right?! Brushed my teeth, showered and got ready then set out the door headed straight to Tim Horton’s for a coffee, bagel and a hash brown. We then ventured to Younge Street to embark on
our shopping journey. The streets were full with people and riddled with a variety of shops, from designer stores to souvenir trinket stores and everything in between. The infrastructure also varied from modern architecture through to buildings that could have been there for over 100 years for all I know. We stopped at local pizza store, Makers Pizza, as we had heard they are the greatest pizzas to grace
the country and we were not disappointed. Celebrity chef, Matty Matherson has something to do with the shop, but who knows.
After a long day of shopping and eventually making it back to the hotel, we all enjoyed a cold beverage on the balcony as we watched the sun set over the city as we prepared for an eventful night out.

Going to the shops straight after working feels like a nightmare, so I usually save it until after 6, when things are far quieter. Most of the time, when I get there, the postschool rush of kids and their parents has long gone, taking much of the noise with them. Office workers coming back from the city still filter in and out, but at a much slower pace than the 5.30 crowd, whose squeaky shoes only aggravate me more under the fluorescent lights. These days, with things being so expensive, I tend to make the trip here far less often then when I first moved out, so I like to take my time. Once
the food shop is done, I take my washing across the road to the laundromat. My roommate thinks I’m silly for not stopping in before doing my shopping, and letting it run while I mosey through the shelves. But I don’t care.
I don’t know why I save it for afterwards. It’s ritual to me. Going from a grocery shop, where a feel overwhelmed, to the laundromat, where I can stop and let the slow buzz of a dryer entrance just feels meditative to me.
24 HRS WITH ELLA
The weather was hot and dry, perfect for a day trip to some hot springs. We started early and got our morning coffee on the way to Berry Springs. However, once settled we had to decide who got to have control of the music. A big decision when it comes to setting the mood for these kinds of trips.
While the drive there took about an hour and a half, time went by quickly due to the scenic views and the multitude of snacks we’d packed in our travel bag.
Once arriving and finding a place to park the real fun began. Most of the pools were quite busy so we swam out a little bit to find a more
secluded area to enable us to relax more.
After a quick swim we sat down and laid out our picnic blanket and lunch. It was great to just lay in the sun for a while instead of being stuck inside due to the rain. Overall the day allowed us to unwind and relax after a long week of travel and work. The trip will undoubtedly become a core memory that we will look back on happily.
