FROM THE
Happy New Year! :) I hope everyone had a wonderful and safe New Year celebration to kick off the year. Even if your celebration consisted of hanging out on your couch in a cozy blanket with your cat. No matter how you celebrated, I hope that this coming year is a great and healthy one for all of you! :) With that said, I had asked Swifties on Instagram to share what their New Year Resolutions are for 2019 and they are posted in this issue! Be sure to check that out! I’m sure by now you ALL have watched the reputation tour movie on Netflix about a million times...but, honestly baby who’s counting? ;) I love the fact that SO many WWW.ISSUU.COM/ZINETHIRTEEN
non-stans have FINALLY came to the realization that Taylor is a genuinely amazing performer, crazy talented and cares about her fans. Most of us are like, “WE BEEN KNEW!!!!” But, I’m glad to see the hate slowly fading away from her. There was NEVER a need for any hate towards her and it’s nice to see that these people who weren’t fond of her are apologizing on social media after watching the rep movie. THANK YOU for aplogizing and THANK YOU for understanding our love for Taylor. Everyone is welcome in this fandom as long as we are supportive of Taylor and one another. That’s that. There are already fan theories floating around about TS7. What theme will it have? What kind of feelings will come of it? Who
knows! But, many have speculated ideas just by what Taylor has been wearing or what she has worn in the past. It’s always an interesting read when people post their ideas. I’m sure Taylor reads them with a sly smile saying, “They have NO idea what’s about to hit them ;)” I know we are all excited about TS7 and are itching to find out more information about it. Whatever it may be, I’m sure it will blow our minds like usual. Taylor never ceases to amaze and surprise us all. I hope everyone enjoys the January issue! :)

LWYMMD Taylor Swift’s “Look What You Made Me Do” Video Hits 1 Billion YouTube Views BILLBOARD
RANIA ANIFTOS
12.26.18
Taylor Swift’s symbolic and cinematic music video for her Reputation single, “Look What You Made Me Do” is so addictive, it reached one billion views on YouTube. This isn’t the first time Swift has hit the milestone. Her visuals for “Shake It Off,” “Blank Space” and “Bad Blood” all have 10-digit views each. The “LWYMMD” clip launched the Reputation era in August 2017 after premiering at the VMAs. She pokes fun at being called a “snake,” hints at her feud with Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, and bids farewell to different version of her old self.

REPUTATION FILM Taylor Swift’s ‘Reputation’ Film Shows Why She’s One of the All-Time Greats ROLLING STONE
ROB SHEFFIELD
01.02.19
Taylor Swift’s triumphant Reputation tour gets immortalized the way it deserves in her new Netflix concert film, which premieres on the streaming service on New Year’s Eve. (Just in time for “New Year’s Day”: that’s our Taylor, always thinking conceptually.) It shows off the biggest and best tour yet from one of pop’s all-time great live performers — Swift goes for stadium-rocking spectacle, without toning down any of her songs’ one-on-one emotional intimacy. Nobody else is in this girl’s zone. The Reputation doc was shot on the final night of the U.S. run, at AT&T
WWW.ISSUU.COM/ZINETHIRTEEN
Stadium in Arlington, Texas, with 60,000 fans singing along with every word, right down to every last “isn’t it?” in “Delicate.”
Swift is an artist who knows she doesn’t need special effects — she can get up there with just her acoustic guitar and slay, any night she chooses. All she needs is her songs, and she’s sitting on a songbook full of classics. But if she’s going to do a mega-pop show, she’s going to go all the way, because that’s what she does. So Reputation is a tribute to her epic ambition, with a dazzling battalion of dancers, pyro explosions, video screens and giant inflatable snakes, including a 63-foot cobra named Karyn. As her secret soul sister Courtney Love would say, Taylor wants to be the girl with the most snake. It’s a New Year’s Eve victory
toast to top off her historic 2018. Reputation was the year’s best-selling album, according to Billboard, even topping Drake’s Scorpion. She also had the biggest-selling U.S. tour in history, according to Pollstar. Has any female solo artist done an all-stadium tour before? With two female opening acts, Charli XCX and Camila Cabello? Swift took her tour to seven countries on four continents, selling nearly three million tickets. (The only artist who outgrossed her globally? Her old protegee Ed Sheeran, with whom she co-wrote “Everything Has Changed” while they were both bouncing on a trampoline.) continued on pg 8

REPUTATION FILM Rep Film continued... continued from pg 7
I saw the tour’s first night — in Arizona, back in May — and it blew the wheels off my getaway car. But as the film proves, this tour got more legendary as it rolled on. She makes “Delicate” so theatrically splendid (she glides above the crowd in a golden basket) and yet so personal and vulnerable. “Delicate” was my favorite song of 2017, before it was a hit, but I love it twice as much after hearing it constantly on the radio all year — I recently passed my millionth “isn’t it?” and I plan to keep over-isn’tit-ing my way through 2019. Swift turns “Shake It Off” into a serpentine throwdown with Camila and Charli. “Getaway Car,” the Rep gem that really should have been a hit, begins with a dramatic poetry recital: “And in the death of her reputation, she felt truly alive.” She sits at the piano for a medley combining two of her best deep cuts, “Long Live” (from 2010’s Speak Now) and “New Year’s Day,” showing how far she’s traveled as a songwriter. “New Year’s Day” is the surprise ending to Reputation — a quiet piano ballad after so many synth jams. She sings about cleaning up the morning after the party, sweeping glitter off the floor with somebody who makes her look forward to the year ahead. Only Taylor could focus on the least glamorous, most boring holiday in the
calendar and find some romance in it. (Maybe next year she’ll do Arbor Day?) Swift made every show different by picking a surprise for the B-stage wild-card slot — an oldie from her songbook, played on acoustic guitar. Part of the fun was waiting to see what she’d bust out every night. Seattle got “Holy Ground,” Dublin got “Mean,” Atlanta got “The Lucky One.” Chicago got “Our Song.” Nashville got “Tim McGraw,” joined by McGraw and Faith Hill. New Jersey got “Enchanted,” timed perfectly so the rain storm hit the crowd right at the “please don’t be in love with someone else,” proof she’s in cahoots with the weather. It’s a tribute to her vast catalog — but also
ZINE THIRTEEN ISSUE 18 JANUARY 2019
to her fans, who stand ready to sing all 129 of her songs at a moment’s notice. For this show, she ends the U.S. tour with the B-stage surprise she picked the first night: “All Too Well,” the mightiest song she’s ever written. She hadn’t sung it live since 2014 — but she delivers this majestic scarf-core ballad with a voice full of adult regret. Reputation was a risky move — after the Number One hit “Look What You Made Me Do,” the world was primed for her to sing about celebrity score-settling, but instead, it turned out to be an album full of deeply personal love songs. It didn’t fit the “narrative” of what people thought she was about. People predicted that she was killing her career,
alienating fans, etc., but people have been saying that ever since she had the gall to change the plot of Romeo and Juliet. It turned out to be a lot more than just another great Swift album — it was a statement about how far she’s willing to go as an artist, starting over from scratch every time. Even when she started as a kid, she had her own scholarly sense of pop history and a brash notion of her place in it. But with this tour and the whole 2018 she’s had, she shows why she’s making history. She’s never willing to rest on her reputation — but in the death of her reputation, she feels truly alive. Long live. WWW.ISSUU.COM/ZINETHIRTEEN

NYE PARTY Here Are All the Celebrities Who Dressed Up For Taylor Swift’s New Year’s Eve Party TIME
RACHEL GREENSPAN
01.02.19
No stranger to partythrowing, Taylor Swift hosted all her best friends for one of her famous soirées on December 31st. After the July 4th parties the singer-songwwriter used to have—and her AMA after party earlier this year—Swift wasn’t going to let 2018 go without one more celebration. But this party wasn’t just about sparkles and champagne. Guests, including Blake Lively and Gigi Hadid, were instructed to dress up as their childhood hero. Swift chose Ariel, the mermaid from the eponymous Disney film, as her hero. In an Instagram post, the singer— whose documentary about the Reputation album tour was recently released on Netflix— shared well-wishes with her 113.9 million followers, writing, “Sending you all love and hope going into 2019.” Here’s what the rest of Taylor Swift’s posse dressed up as for their New Year’s Eve party in New York: BLAKE LIVELY - DOROTHY
Blake Lively, one of Swift’s many famous BFFs, joined the many ladies who chose movie characters as their childhood heroes. With pigtail braids and a checkered blue-and-white WWW.ISSUU.COM/ZINETHIRTEEN
dress, Lively certainly looked the part of Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz. Lively’s husband, Deadpool’s Ryan Reynolds, attended the party as well, though he appeared to be dressed as himself in a simple gray suit. Swift’s Instagram post also featured a photo of herself and Reynolds drinking from bottles of Aviation Gin,
which Reynolds now owns. GIGI HADID - MARY POPPINS
referencing a song from the movie-musical, writing, “Just a spoon full of sugar helps 2018 go down.” The costume made Hadid feel heroic indeed—she tweeted that she didn’t want to take it off at all.
The 23-year-old model channeled Mary Poppins with red lipstick, a top hat and even the umbrella-cane. Perhaps Hadid was channeling Emily MCCALL KOENIG - NANCY DREW Blunt as Mary Poppins in Mary Koenig is one of Gigi and Poppins Returns. Hadid poked Bella Hadid’s best friends, fun at a tumultuous 2018 continued on pg 10 with her Instagram post while ZINE THIRTEEN ISSUE 18 JANUARY 2019

so you may recognize her from hanging out with the sister celebrities. Her New Year’s Eve look was inspired by the detective character Nancy Drew from the Nancy Drew Mystery Series novels by pseudonymous author Carolyn Keene. LEAH MCCARTHY - AVRIL LAVIGNE
Leah McCarthy’s costume as old-school Avril Lavigne is far from ‘complicated.’ Like Koenig, the Instagram influencer is close friends with Bella and Gigi Hadid. ASHLEY AVIGNONE - GWEN STEFANI
Avignone, who works as a fashion stylist and consultant, according to her Instagram, paid homage to Gwen Stefani with her 1998 MTV Video Music Awards look. ABIGAIL LUCIER - POSH SPICE
Another well known member of Taylor Swift’s crew, Abigail Anderson Lucier dressed as Posh Spice from the Spice Girls. With the black bob wig and little black dress, she definitely resembles a late-1990s Victoria Beckham.

RIP TSL So it’s Gonna Be Forever, or it’s Gonna Go Down in Flames...Farewell to The Swift Life App TANYA OHNMEISS
01.02.19
As we come to an official end of the reputation era, the end of The Swift Life is happening as well. The Swift Life mobile app launched a little over a year ago where fans could connect with one another through posts, earn taymojis and send gifts to each other. The app was quite addicting to some, especially when trying to search for the rare taymojis! However, it seems as time went on, less and less users were as engaged in the app compared to the initial launch. Many people would joke on social media about the app after a few months of the launch stating that they still have the app installed but have not logged in for quite some time. Some even posted they have not been on in over 300 days! So, it is quite understandable why the app would shut down if so few people are actually using it. It takes a team to develop an app, design all the various icons, animate object, ect. Seems as though there is a lot of work being put in, with not enough coming out of it with user retention. It is unfortunate that the app is coming to an end so quickly. The overall idea and design was really nice. It just was too
repetitive and became a little boring after a while (I’m sorry, Taylor!) I am guilty of being one of the fans who became addicted in the beginning stages and then slowly used the app less and less. It just happens over time. The official social media pages for The Swift Life made a post which declared the shut down. Fans still have some
ZINE THIRTEEN ISSUE 18 JANUARY 2019
time to use up their digital currency and say goodbye. The app is no longer available for download and the set date for the shut down is February 1st. Although this shows an end to the reputation era, I’m excited to see what TS7 has in store for all of us! :) WWW.ISSUU.COM/ZINETHIRTEEN

GOLDEN GLOBES Taylor Surprised Us With an Appearance at the 2019 Golden Globes! TANYA OHNMEISS
01.10.19
I know a lot of us don’t even bother to watch some award shows unless Taylor is present. Well, this was the case for many of us, but thankfully social media exploded letting all of those who were not watching, that Taylor was at the Golden Globes! YAAASSS!! Taylor presented an award alongside Idris Elba for Best Original Song to Lady Gaga & Mark Ronson. So, not only did we get to see Taylor at an awards show, but we also go to see Taylor and Lady Gaga hug, which was OH SO WONDERFUL AND ADORABLE AND MAGICAL! It was definitely a great surprise for Taylor to appear at the awards. But, also sweet she was there to support Joe. Aw. :) Before the show, Taylor also sent a “good luck” message to Elisabeth Moss, since she is a big fan of The Handmaid’s Tale. Elisabeth mentioned her and her fellow cast sings Taylor’s songs to relax and have fun. So, Taylor wanted to make a point to thank Elisabet for listening to her music and let her know how much she loved the show. They showed Taylor’s video message to Elisabeth who was absolutely so excited to recieve the message! How nice! :) ZINE THIRTEEN ISSUE 18 JANUARY 2019

WE ARE SWIFTIES TS7 Fan Predictions...Mermaids? TANYA OHNMEISS
01.05.19
Now that the reputation era has come to a close, fans are already speculating possible theories for Taylor’s next album. At Taylor’s NYE party, she dressed as Ariel from The Little Mermaid. Once these photos hit the internet, fans quickly referenced the other instances where mermaids have been involved with Taylor. For her reputation magazine, Taylor wore a camo jacket that had a mermaid patch on it. Another instance is during the blooper real of her reputation tour, she was seen skipping around the stadium in a black T-shirt with mermaids on it. Could these be potential clues for what’s to come? Or could these all be a coincidence? Remember when Taylor took several photos before the 1989 era with roses and many thought the album would be called Roses? Definitely wasn’t the case, but it’s always fun to read the various theories people come up with! Taylor always has a way of surprising us. Whether or not this album has anything to do with mermaids, I’m sure the next album will be spectacular in many ways! We will just have to wait and see. :)

As I’m sure you know — because it feels like everyone in the world has watched it at this point — last week Taylor Swift’s Reputation Stadium Tour movie dropped on Netflix. Stans of Taylor already know she basically spent the majority of 2018 travelling the world on said stadium tour, living her best life and breaking records left, right, and centre. But that wasn’t always the case. For the majority of 2016 and at least the first half of 2017, Taylor’s reputation (lol) was less than stellar in the eyes of the public, thanks to an extremely under-theradar (also lol) feud with the Kardashian-Wests. If you don’t know what happened by now, I’m sure you don’t care and never will, but it basically involved some videos of a phone conversation between Kanye West and Taylor Swift, which were posted to Kim’s Snapchat without Taylor’s knowledge and resulted in the hashtag #TaylorSwiftIsOverParty trending worldwide. It’s fair to say Taylor turned the whole situation around with her Reputation era. She wiped all her social media accounts, ditched public WWW.ISSUU.COM/ZINETHIRTEEN
I disliked Taylor Swift when I was younger for whatever reason, it wasn’t even a valid reason. But i’m watching her netflix show and i’m in tears, she deserves so much respect, she’s such a performer, wow lostinjosefin

So... give me shit if you want, but I watched the new Taylor Swift concert special on Netflix. And holy shit, it’s good. She’s honestly an amazing performer and stage presence. Seriously, if you don’t care about her, check this out because it was so enjoyable. biceptual_
i’m not a fan of Taylor Swift’s latest album but i cried three times during her Netflix show so really, who can tell at this point
I’m watching Taylor Swift’s Reputation Stadium Tour on Netflix and I can’t help but get chills. That issue with Kanye West could have easily destroyed her (anyone’s, really) career, but she handled it so strategically then fucking rebranded.
idliwithsauce
Taylor Swift is a genius kimsuellosomera
appearances almost entirely, and used her concerts as an opportunity to speak directly to fans about her life rather than giving interviews to the media. Obviously, the huge success of the Reputation Tour proved Taylor is still hugely loved and respected amongst her hardcore fans, but there was still some animosity towards her from people who never considered themselves fans in the first place. But when the tour movie
dropped on Netflix on New Year’s Eve — and people were able to watch it without spending, like, a bunch of dollars on tickets — she acquired some brand new stans. To be honest, it’s hard to get through the whole two hours without bopping, crying, and bopping some more, so I don’t blame them. They’re loving Taylor’s uncanny ability to make you feel like she’s talking directly to you, even though you’re in
a stadium full of 80,000 other people. And totally relating to the speeches she makes at various points in the show. In fact, people were realising they kind of only disliked Taylor because it seemed like everyone else did. And that the way she handled the whole Kimye drama was actually kind of genius. This really is the power of Taylor Swift.

WE ARE SWIFTIES Lotte the Disco Ball Fashionista! TANYA OHNMEISS
01.05.19
Lotte is at it again! If you are not familiar with Lotte, she is a Swiftie from The Netherlands who recreates many of Taylor’s outfits. These outfits range from what Taylor has worn on the red carpet to items worn during her tour. Lotte does an absolutely GORGEOUS job at creating these looks! Her latest immitation is from Taylor’s 2018 AMA “Disco Ball” dress. Back in October, Lotte made a post saying “they say I did something bad...” along with the fabric she had bought to start the new project. This got many of her followers super excited! Including myself! Taylor’s AMA outfit was so ON POINT and the fact that Lotte was going to tackle the recreation is so, so, SO awesome! On December 23rd, Lotte posted the complete dress, which looks STUNNING on her! It is extremely close to the version that Taylor wore (minus the boots). Lotte says she will be making boots to match, so we will be on the lookout for those next! :) If you would like to follow Lotte you can find her on both Instagram and Twitter at the username: @teatimetay13
