FROM THE

Hello, there. My name is Tanya! I am the creator of ZINEthirteen. I first came up with the idea to create an online magazine related to Taylor over a year ago. However, while being busy with various things in my life, it was put on hold. I now have acquired a bit more time to spend on personal projects (yay!). Now, to give you a bit of background about myself...I am currently 25 years old, I am a graduate of SUNY Fredonia (2015) with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Graphic Design and I am currently employed as a graphic artist. I have been interested in art my entire life

and realized I had a great love for graphic design later in life. Actually, the reason I even found my love of design was because of Taylor, believe it or not! I used to be part of Taylor Connect, which is Taylor’s online community where fans can talk with one another online through forum pages. I used to be an avid member of this site and would contribute a lot of my graphic work by designing signature banners for various swifties. This sparked my interest in learning more about design, therefore, I actually switched my major in college from chemistry/pharmacy to

graphic design. All thanks to Taylor! Honestly, I am very happy with what I do and enjoy what I do very much. It’s important to do something that you love for a living, otherwise it just becomes actual work. Lead a life that’s worth living! The reason I wanted to start this Taylor online magazine was to not only give myself a fun project to work on in my down time, but to also give other fans, like me, something to look back on from month to month to have a bunch of Taylor related things all in one place! Plus, I would really love to get other fans involved with submitting

stories, artwork, etc. The main goal behind this is to bring fans together through one major interest, Taylor! Hope you all enjoy the second issue of ‘Zine Thirteen. It may start off small, but I hope it will grow with the help of all of you. :)

Stay Beautiful, Tanya

After Taylor “shed her skin” on all her social media accounts, she is now back posting all kinds of fun sneak peeks into her new album, Reputation! Are you READY FOR IT? Not sure if we can handle any more surprises, but we all know how Taylor likes to keep us on our toes and keep us guessing. Is she going to drop another single before her November 10th release?! We will have to wait and find out! All I know is Taylor is back and already kicking ass with her new music. We knew she would be breaking records all too well. ;)

Reputation HERE LIES TAYLOR SWIFT’S REPUTATION Tanya ohnmeiss

9.6.17

We can finally stop saying “TS6” - YAYYY! So, we all learned that Taylor’s new album comes out November 10th and is titled, “Reputation” along with hearing a few singles already, “Look What You Made Me Do” and “...Ready For It?” What is next to come? We get to see! As of right now, Reputation seems to take a look into Taylor’s very own reputation through the media’s eyes as well as her own. With her first single, LWYMMD, she talks a lot about the media and various people who pushed her into this “persona” that they all made for her. This doesn’t exactly mean that she truly is “that girl” but it’s more to mock these people into the things they said about her. Her fans know the true Taylor and she will always be there for them, just like they will always be there for her. They know her TRUE reputation, while others try to smear her name across the media in red letters saying, “TAYLOR SWIFT IS FAKE. SHE’S A SNAKE. CAN’T TRUST HER. TAYLOR SWIFT IS OVER.” etc. Is Taylor Swift over? HELL NO! Do you see her cowering away from those who try to push her down? Once again, HELL NO! Taylor is stronger. Taylor is smarter. She rises back from the dead all the time, bitches. SO WATCH OUT! ;)

Where can you preorder reputation? There are many places you can find to preorder Taylor’s new album that works for you. Below is a list of a new major retailers with presale info: iTunes Amazon Target Walmart Taylor Swift’s Official Website

LOOK WHAT YOU MADE ME DO THE OLD TAYLOR CAN’T COME TO THE PHONE RIGHT NOW...

Tanya ohnmeiss

9.6.17

“Look What You Made Me Do” is our first look into Taylor’s new album, Reputation. And what a first look it has been! Taylor has been away for what seems like an eternity to us, but for her to come back with such a strong first single, DAMN, GIRL! WE ARE SO PROUD! It is understandable that Taylor has been trying to stay away from the media spotlight for as long as possible. She deserves time to herself, friends and family. Taylor, like us, is actually a person (I know, hard to believe someone so wonderful and amazing could REALLY be human, but she is!). People deserve privacy and time away. With being away, yes, she did write some killer songs and what looks to become a new hit album in the months to come, but she also had time to be who she wanted to be and not worry about the media telling her who she is. Taylor knows who she ACTUALLY is, therefore, she creatively takes a spin on what the media has to say and writes an awesome song! LWYMMD is filled with power and energy. Can you imagine being at the Reputation Tour dancing and singing (screaming)

along to this because, I sure can! Every time I hear this song, it pumps me up so much. I can picture “Catastrophe” in my mind, getting ready to box in the ring or something. This time Catastrophe is back, but she is more ready than ever to prove herself, stand up for herself and take back what is belongs to her. Her reputation.

Taylor Swift’s ‘Look What You Made Me Do’ Leaps to No. 1 on Hot 100 With Top Streaming & Sales Week of 2017 BILLBOARD

Taylor Swift’s “Look What You Made Me Do” blasts from No. 77 (where it debuted) to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart (dated Sept. 16), following its first full week of data tracking. After its Aug. 25 release, the song soars to the top with the highest weekly streaming and sales sums for a track in 2017 and breaks the record for the most weekly streams ever for a song by a woman. “Look” -- released on Big Machine/Republic Records and the first single from Swift’s album

Only one song has posted a greater weekly total than “Look” on Streaming Songs (which began on March 2, 2013): Baauer’s “Harlem Shake,” which peaked with 103 million, powered heavily by user-generated clips featuring the song’s audio (the week that the survey debuted). Swift adds her third Streaming Songs No. 1, following “Shake It Off” and “Blank Space.” She ties Miley Cyrus for the most by a Clarkson’s “My Life Would Suck woman; among all acts, only Bie- Without You” leads with its 97-1 ber has earned more No. 1s (four). surge (Feb. 7, 2009). ‘Look’ and listen:

As it leads Streaming Songs and Digital Song Sales, “Look” charges 23-14 on the Radio Songs chart with 64 million all-format audience impressions following its first full week of airplay tracking. (It debuted a week ago with 46 million in its first three days.) Most notably, “Look” roars 21-9 on the Pop Songs chart (which is based on total weekly plays on a 164-station panel of mainstream top 40 stations), marking Swift’s 14th top 10. It makes the fastest

More than nine months into 2017, Swift is the first woman to top the Hot 100 this year. She’s the first since Halsey reigned, as featured on the Chainsmokers’ “Closer,” which wrapped its 12-week rule on Nov. 19, 2016. Until “Look,” no woman had topped the Hot 100 in a lead role in more than a year: since Sia’s “Cheap Thrills,” featuring Sean Paul, led for four weeks from Aug. 6 through Aug. 27, 2016. Further, “Look” is the first song by a woman unaccompanied by a male artist to rule the Hot 100 since Adele’s “Hello” led for 10 weeks (Nov. 14, 2015-Jan. 16, 2016). The only other such No. 1s since the start of 2014: Swift’s “Shake” and “Space” and Meghan Trainor’s “All About That Bass.” Atop the Hot 100, “Look” supplants “Despacito,” which on the Sept. 9-dated chart logged its 16th week at No. 1, matching Carey and Boyz II Men’s “One Sweet Day” (16 weeks, 1995-96) for the longest command in the chart’s archives. On the new Sept. 16 list, “Despacito” dips to No. 2. Again, highlights of the rest of the Sept. 16-dated Hot 100’s top 10 will post on Billboard.com later today (Sept. 5), and all charts will update on Billboard.com tomorrow (Sept. 6).

LOOK WHAT YOU MADE ME DO THAT MUSIC VIDEO THOUGH LET’s TAKE A LOOK AT 13 MOMENTS OF THE LWYMMD VIDEO SHALL WE?

1. Nils Sjoberg Tombstone - One of the tombstones had the name Nils Sjoberg, the pseudonym that Swift used for a songwriting credit on her ex-boyfriend Calvin Harris’ 2016 single “This Is What You Came For.”

2. ‘Out of the Woods’ Dress - The video opened with Taylor crawling out of a grave while wearing a blue dress, the same one she wore in her 2015 music video for “Out of the Woods.”

3. Dollar Bill - There is a dollar bill floating in Taylor’s bathtub of diamonds. Earlier this month, she was awarded a symbolic $1 in her groping trial against former Denver radio DJ David Mueller, in which the jury ruled in her favor.

4. ‘Et tu Brute’ Chair - The throne that the Taylor sat on was engraved with this phrase, a line from the William Shakespeare play Julius Caesar. It’s in reference to being stabbed in the back by former friends of Caesar. Perhaps even a Mean Girls reference as well? Since Gretchen gives her response on Caesar in class and Katy Perry had once referred to Taylor as “Regina George.”

5. SNAKES, SO MANY SNAKES! This could have been in reference to when Kim Kardashian tweeted a series of snake emojis amid her feud with Swift in 2016.

6. Gold Car Crash - Midway through the video, Swift crashed a gold sports car that looked similar to the one that Katy Perry drove in her 2009 music video for “Waking Up in Vegas. This scene also shows how paparazzi stand back and take photos while Taylor is crashing and having problems, just like when the media does this when everyone attacks her.

7. Grammy Shade - After the crash, the camera zoomed in on Taylor to show her wearing a ZINE THIRTEEN ISSUE 02 september 2017

short, Perry-like wig and holding a Grammy Award. Swift has 10 Grammys; Perry has yet to win one. Oops! ;)

8. ‘I Love T.S.’ Shirts - The singer’s backup dancers wore black “I Love T.S.” crop tops, a possible nod to the tank top that her ex-boyfriend Tom Hiddleston notably wore at her July 4 party in 2016. There are also 8 boys that possibly relate to her dating ONLY 8 GUYS during her career. Since everyone always calls her such a serial dater.

9. Bank Robbery - A baseball bat-wielding Swift and her friends robbed a bank named Stream Co., likely a reference to her battle with music streaming companies. Her albums were previously

9

LOOK WHAT YOU MADE ME DO available exclusively on Apple Music, but have since been added to Spotify, Tidal and more.

10. Squad U - Swift held court over a room full of models at a place called Squad U in the video, poking fun at past accusations that she manufactures her friendships with fellow A-listers.

11. Squad Shout-Out - Taylor recreated the “Junior Jewels” shirt that she wore in her 2008 “You Belong With Me” video. The updated top featured the names of her squad members, including Selena Gomez, Gigi Hadid, Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Ed Sheeran

and others. Showing the true friends who stand by her side.

West interrupted her 2009 VMAs acceptance speech. “I’d very much like to be excluded from this narrative,” she said in the music video, referencing a viral line from her response to her feud with Kardashian and West. She also references other things said about her in the media as being “fake” or “a snake.” Also poking fun at how people used to make fun of her for being surprised at awards shows.

MORE LOOKS FROM THE VIDEO

12. Met Gala Dress - Swift is laid to rest in the same pale pink gown she wore to the 2014 Met Gala. She wore it again at the end of the video. Perhaps showing an end to the 1989 era, which began wearing this dress.

13. Every Taylor - A group of Taylor’s stood in a line in front of an airplane featuring the title of her upcoming sixth album, Reputation. They each wore various outfits from her previous music videos and headline-making moments. One in particular donned the silver dress that Swift wore when Kanye

There are definitely much more than could be referenced here, but this is just a short list. There have been several interpretations on what Taylor could mean with everything she has in this video, but Taylor herself knows exactly why each one is there. She put them in there for her TRUE fans to understand. The ones who have always been there for her through all the nonsense the media throws at her. She is currently holding the number one spot on Billboard (as of September 12), let’s see how long she stays at #1! Taylor, look what you made US do! Getting you to #1 and make us oh, so happy with your new music! Can’t wait to see what’s to come! :) ZINE THIRTEEN ISSUE 02 september 2017

...READY FOR IT? NO ONE WAS READY FOR TAYLOR SWIFT’S NEW SONG “…READY FOR IT?”

VARIETY BEAT

jENCITA VARGAS Song Analysis

9.3.17

“…Ready For It?” starts off with a loud booming bass sound…. you know that sound, when you’re standing front row at a concert and you can’t even really hear what the artist is singing because you just get the bass in your ears and then you can’t hear anything once the concert is over? Yeah, that sound! After Swift clears her throat, she prepares for her Pop/Rap song. Let’s get into the lyrics, a song we believe to be about her relationship with actor Joe Alwyn, whom she has been dating for over 10 months. [Verse 1] Knew he was a killer, First time that I saw him, *Swift first saw Alwyn in 2016. The pair had at least previously met in October during a private concert for Kings of Leon. Alwyn was seen entering the same after party behind model Martha Hunt, BFF of Taylor Swift. Killer here could also just mean good looking. Wonder how many girls he had loved and left haunted, But if he’s a ghost then I can be a phantom, Holdin’ him for ransom *This line seems to be thoughts Swift had when she first saw him, as continuing on from her opening lines. She probably knew very little about him, so it’s natural to wonder if he is single, or taken,

what his love history has been like. He is an actor after all, but Swift has also had her fair share of heart break and knows what the pain of that is like. Sometimes, when you go through really bad breakups, they take parts of you away. People can be left emotionless and it takes a very long time to break through that wall. So if he isn’t capable of much love at the moment, she would totally understand because she has also been through the ringer. (I can be a phantom). But she won’t let that get in the way, she’s going to be there no matter how long it takes to break through that wall he may have up (holdin’ him for ransom). Some, some boys are tryin’ too hard, He don’t try at all though, Younger than my exes but he act like such a man, so *These lines are everything. People may try to impress her, whether it be lavish gifts, jet-setting around the world, private planes. Alwyn is just himself, a boy standing in front of a girl, asking her to love him. ❤ (Ok, we added that last part in). Although Alwyn isn’t the youngest ex (Conor Kennedy, Harry Styles and Taylor Lautner have him beat), he’s still younger than her past two, Calvin Harris and Tom Hiddleston. Even though he is younger than them, he acts like how a man should act. Not like a boy, not childish (cough Harris). Sometimes it takes men longer than women to grow up. A lot of

ZINE THIRTEEN ISSUE 02 september 2017

times females can be ready for a committed relationship at a younger age, but it takes some males longer to get there. They need more time to mature. I see nothing better, I keep him forever, Like a vendetta-ta *Here, the meaning would appear to be that he is really the best man to have come along. Like when you think you’ve truly known what love is, when you’re in high school and you tell your parents you’re in love, but they really know better. During that time though, that’s all the love you’ve known, there isn’t much to compare it to, but as you age and you realize what’s important and how hard relationships can be when you don’t get to see the person every day out of convenience (like going to the same school) and how jobs and life just get in the way. Anyway, tangent over. She’s keeping him like a vendetta (which pretty much never ends since feuds/revenge will always continue). [Pre-Chorus] I-I-I see how this is gonna go, Touch me, and you’ll never be alone *This line is particularly sad and disguised to the average person who doesn’t understand what is being said here. Swift knows all too well about the media attraction her dating life gets. In fact, after Harry Styles, she didn’t date anyone for two years. It’s hard to date her, it’s probably why most of her relationships have failed. So here, she is saying that as soon as they get together (touch me), he’ll never be left alone. There will be paparazzi following him, taking his pictures, interviewers asking about their

relationship. He will be thrust into the limelight. I-Island breeze and lights down low, No one has to know *Islands are symbolic of a place that is generally more secluded and harder to get to. So here, although she could mean that they have been on vacations together, I think the more symbolic meaning is that they are going to be keeping their relationship on the down low. A little more secluded and out of the limelight (lights down low). In fact, the media didn’t know about their relationship for at least 6 months, and to this date they still don’t have any actual pictures of them together (minus one very grainy picture/or them hiding behind umbrellas). [Chorus] In the middle of the night, in my dreams, You should see the things we do, baby, In the middle of the night, in my dreams, I know I’m gonna be with you, So I take my time *A lot of people think these lines are about sex, and although they can be, it could also just be about the way she is dreaming about their life together. The future, maybe a wedding, children, a life away from the media. She seems to be saying that she knows they are going to be together (I know I’m gonna be with you), so there is no need to rush the relationship (So I take my time)...
