editor's notes We love the change of season. The days are starting to get a slight chill and we can finally light the fire pit at night in the yard. There are days we put on a sweatshirt, and others that we're still in flip-flops. Fall is one of our favorite seasons because it means that so many of our favorite holidays are right around the corner. Zee's Fall Recipe
The key to great beef stew is to keep it simple. You can add your own flair to this recipe. I usually pour myself some wine and pour some in the stew as well for depth, but you can certainly just keep it as simple as this. INGREDIENTS: 2 lbs Panorama Organic Grass-Fed Beef Stew Meat Vegetable oil to coat pan 1/3 cup of flour 1/2 cup chopped cooking onions 1 bay leaf, salt & pepper to taste, & a squirt of garlic paste 2 cups of hot water OR beef stock 1 cup canned tomatoes 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce 4 stalks of celery sliced 2 small cooking onions 6 medium carrots cut into 2″ lengths 4 medium quartered potatoes 1/2 cup frozen corn + 1/2 cup frozen peas DIRECTIONS: Dredge the Panorama Organic Grass-Fed Beef Stew Meat in flour. Add oil to the pan (I use a castiron cocotte). Slowly brown the meat on all sides. Add salt, pepper, chopped onions, bay leaf, and garlic. Slowly stir in the hot water or beef stock and tomatoes. Add the Worcestershire sauce. Cover and simmer for about 2 hours until the meat is fork-tender. Add celery, carrots, and quartered onions and potatoes. Add salt & pepper to taste. Cover and simmer for 30 minutes. Optional: Pour in some of that red wine you're been drinking. Serve in bowls with fresh crusty bread to dunk!

There are lots of recipes that have been passed down from my grandmother to my mom and then to me. Although it tastes good I still think my grandmother or mother makes it better. I hope you try this recipe and love it as much as I do! INGREDIENTS: Apples (5-6 sweet apples) My grandmother would go to the orchard and pick them 1/3 c Water 1/4 c Flour 1/2 c Sugar 1/2 c Brown Sugar 1/2 tsp cinnamon 1/4 tsp salt 1/4 lb butter -softened (that’s 1 stick REAL butter) DIRECTIONS: 1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees 2. Butter baking dish (use part of the stick of butter) 3. Peel and slice apples. Spread in pan 4. Sprinkle water onto apple slices 5. Combine flour, sugars, cinnamon, and salt in a bowl 6. Rub in butter with fingertips until it resembles course crumbs 7. Spread evenly over apples 8. Bake on 350 for 30 minutes Serve warm with vanilla ice cream**Always make it with love! Sometimes grandma would throw in a few oats.

What Rachel love fall! 1. Making apple cider with mulling spice and letting it simmer on the stove all day. It fills the house with the scent of fall 2. As a New Englander, we wait for peak foliage and drive to take in the views of the vibrant colors. 3. Speaking of leaves, it’s always exciting to find the first colored leaf of the season. I’m like a kid, I bring it in the house to show it my husband. 4. I hate yard work but love raking leaves into a pile. I can’t jump in them anymore but I do get down in them with the grandkids and get buried. Then it’s fun to throw them in the air as high as you can. 5. Wrapping up in a soft comfy blanket with a cup of tea on the couch is so relaxing. 6. Putting on my favorite fleece sweats and old worn warm sweatshirt to sit by the fire on a brisk night warms my heart. 7. Finding the perfect pumpkins at the pumpkin patch is a tradition. I then carve one to make pumpkin seeds. I also grab hay, gourds, corn stalks, and mums for decorations. 8. Homemade soup is a must in the fall! Pumpkin, squash, and vegetable are my favorites. 9. Apple picking for homemade apple crisp is my absolute favorite treat- with vanilla ice cream on top! 10. Fall festivals and fairs! Eating fair food, seeing animals, and shopping! Doesn’t get better than that! Although they’re all cancelled this year My fall tip: Gather all your colored leaves with the kids or grandkids. Cut 8 pieces wax paper 18 inches long. Place some leaves on the wax paper, lay another piece over the top of the leaves and iron on low. Use these for your fall placemats. You can also have the kids shave crayons and add to the leaves for more colors.
Zee muses on Fall 1. In Florida it's finally cool enough to leave the house and go for walks on the beach (I can't walk on the sand in the summer). 2. Fall is rainy season in Florida, so the downpours happen every afternoon around 2 or 3 pm. 3. I love that it's warm enough for the children to go trick or treating without covering their costtumes. 4. I love that the sky is bright and that even on a rainy day I can see the bright blue sky. 5. I love that I can sit by the pool in the evening with a glass of wine.
1. I miss the smell of the wood stove burning in our New England home 2. I miss switching over my wardrobe from flip flops and shorts to jeans and boots...oh & sweaters, I miss my sweaters. 3. I miss hay rides, corn mazes and picking out my jack-o-lantern to be at the pumpkin patch. 4. I don't miss the gray days. 5. I miss cuddling up in front of a fire with a hot chocolate. My Fall tip: Get in the car and explore the local produce stands and farmers markets.
