PROCESS . The design approach started with creating the shape of an oasis in the middle of the desert. By creating this shape we shaped a concept that relates heavily with the library. The form initially was extruded above ground, but due to the necessity of creating pathways an views, the triangular forms became on the ground level, so the shops and other functions would be underground.

ZONING . The process in which the areas were distributed followed a very detailed program. At the problems and objectives stage a research was made in order to determine the necessity of certain functions. Fortunately many functions that were neglected or nod implemented at all, they are all now arranged in a central approach located in the middle of the site, in order to create a plaza-like space.

GREEN . The project provided many types of plantations that would be discussed later on. However, the greenery in the Oasis is one of a kind, and the pedestrian life is outstanding. The families can sit together privately due to the fact that there are shrubs that provide privacy and the lay out of the green spaces encourage such private activities. On the contrary to the previous design, this design helps families to socialize. There are water features that the kids could play on and there are sandboxes as well where there are playing fixtures for them when the families sit comfortably from a viewing distance.

CAFES . The project provided seating areas and cafes for the vissitors of King Fahd National Library and for the visitors of the park alike. The cafes are located in the underground level with access to other facilities as well. These sreas are exposed to a courtyard system in which connects with the upper level and acts as a shading system for the seating areas above. The seating areas located in the ground level are for public use and for the buyers of the food trucks as well.

ENERGY . Sustainability is a major factor for energy production in the project. The usage of kinetic plate systems to produce electric energy as people move on the farther axis's of the project has allowed the project to store enough energy to use at night time and allowed the project to dispose of the electricity consuming element previously used. The project is using a shading element that is abstracted from the shading system used on the faรงade of King Fahd National Library. This shading system is acting as wind catchers to provide the users beneath it to get a cold breeze of wind and convert the hot climate in the project to a more acceptable one.

ELEMENT 1 . Food trucks would be located on the outer edges of the project and they will be equipped with the right equipment for their defined use. Alongside the truck there would be seats provided for users in order to be more comfortable while buying the food. Truck parking was provided with the right dimensions in order for the truck to park freely and might stay overnight.
ELEMENT 2 . There would be lighting features that are laid out around the site with a purpose of providing a larger reduce of light during the night. The lighting fixtures will be sustainably managed and the electricity would be provided from the Kinetic plates. In the seats provided near the food trucks and the seats that are located on other parts of the sites and in the shading devices around the site there would be Misting elements that are connected to them
ELEMENT 3 . Buss stops will be implemented in this part of town and especially in tour site, due to the renovations that are happening to Al Olaya St. and the developments that are under constructions nowadays. Bike parking spots were added for the bike users to visit the site and to encourage people for walkability and exercise.
ELEMENT 4 . As part of the family comfort and satisfaction, a large sandbox involving 5 different playing areas were added in the project. Such activities are an essential part of a project that is located in a residential area, and will encourage neighbours to visit the site more often. Additionally, the location of the kids area in regards to the site is very safe considering the long distance from the main road.
ELEMENT 5 . Kinetic plates are a major element t=in the project due to the fact that they are a great source of electricity and this source will increase in the working days. Additionally, seats were provided along these plates to provide extra comfort in the project. Tree grilles are an element of aesthetic performance, therefore, they play an important role in the project
ELEMENT 6 . Light poles are a low element that provides an aesthetic feature during the night without high light pollution. Fountains are also an important aesthetic element in the project. Adults and kids would interact with this element more often, However, this element will enhance the thermal comfort and would decrease the temperature to a reasonable degree.
LONG SECTION . This section highlights the longitudenal part of the project and shows the central sunken part and the pathways on the two wings of the project containinf=d irrigation systems and kinetic systems for sustainability.

DRIP . Drip irrigation is a form of micro-irrigation system that can conserve water and nutrients by allowing water, either from above the soil surface or buried below the surface, to drip slowly to the roots of plants. The aim is to place water into the root zone directly and reduce evaporation. Via a network of pumps, pipes, tubing, and emitters, drip irrigation systems convey water. A drip irrigation system may be more effective than other forms of irrigation systems, such as surface irrigation or sprinkler irrigation, depending on how well built, installed, maintained and controlled it is.

#1 SPRINKLER . The system used to irrigate farm crops, lawns, landscapes, golf courses, and other areas is an irrigation sprinkler (also known as a water sprinkler or simply a sprinkler). They are also used for cooling and for airborne dust management. The method of applying water in a regulated manner in a way similar to rainfall is sprinkler irrigation. A network that can consist of pumps, valves, pipes, and sprinklers distributes the water.

VAPOR . A system that cools air by the evaporation of water is an evaporative cooler (also a swamp cooler, a swamp package, a desert cooler and a wet air cooler). Evaporative cooling varies from traditional air conditioning systems that use cooling cycles of vapor-compression or absorption. The fact that water absorbs a relatively large amount of heat is used by evaporative cooling to evaporate (that is, it has a large enthalpy of vaporization). The temperature of dry air can be dropped significantly through the phase transition of liquid water to water vapor (evaporation). Using much less energy than freezing, this will cool air. Evaporative cooling of air in very dry climates has the additional advantage of conditioning the air with more moisture for the comfort of building occupants.
PROTECTION . This system allows the lifespan of plansts and trees to get longer due to the fact that structural porous fill is added with a drip irrigation system under it. This system has a boundery element that prevents damage from approaching the pland itself or its irrigation system.

Arabian Acacia . Due to its prevalence on the Arabian Peninsula, the synonym Acacia arabica or sant al arabi is generally referred to. A. Var nilotica. In Saudi Arabia, tomentosa occurs in wadi and rowdah habitats on sandy and alluvial soils. Broad, flat straight, velvety-grey fruits with up to 12 constricted round seeds, which hang like peas in a pod, are easily recognized by this single-stemmed medium-sized tree with its flattened or rounded crown.

Golden Acacia . This Australian native acacia, an erect or spreading, medium-sized shrub or small tree, typically multi stemmed from or near ground level, is also the floral emblem of the region. This is a rather showy wattle and has been selected as ideal for the Arriyadh region's conditions. With pointed branchlets and bright-green, sickleshaped phyllodes, it has a smooth or finely fissured, dark brown to greyish bark. In very dense clusters, huge, sweetly-scented, golden ball-shaped flowers occur in spring, providing a vibrant contrast to the foliage.

Alcea rosea . The Hollyhock is a plant originating in China and southwest Asia that is biennial or perennial. For a sheltered garden border in Arriyadh, it is a good structural plant where it will grow best to a height of over 2 meters during the cooler time of the year. A. Rosea has an upright, candelabrum shape: its hibiscus-like flowers usually appear in midsummer on long spikes, but when it provides seasonal color, its best showing in Arriyadh is during the winter. A wide variety of flower colours are available, ranging from light yellow, pink and red to nearly black.

Shrubby Orache . This is a tall, densely branched shrub native to the Mediterranean coastal areas, characterized by its silvery-white stems and its round, elliptical to oblong, broad, silvery leaves. Its name in Arabic is qataf. It has a very high salinity tolerance for slow growing on not too fertile, but also very alkaline, sandy or silty soil. Currently, the plant extracts salt out of the soil. A very windhardy plant, it needs full sun and tolerates extreme drought conditions, allegedly surviving without rainfall for many years; frost resistance is strong. A. Halimus is also grown for sheep and camel feed.

Date Palm . The Date Palm is endemic to the Kingdom and is widely cultivated throughout the country in groves. It grows slowly to 25 metres in height and 12 metres in width. It can take fifteen years to hit 3 meters. The pinnate, rigid, sharp-pointed leaves are over 3 meters long. The leaves differ in length and form according to the cultivars. Depending on cultivation and agricultural practices, a tree can produce 10-20 leaves a year. From late February to May, the floral buds in the axils of the leaves bring out spikes of thin, yel-lowish flowers. Naturally, date palms are wind-pollinated, but they are manually pollinated by professional workers on farms; a male tree produces ample pollen to pollinate up to 50 female trees.

Ocimum basilicum . Ocimum basilicum, or rayhan in Arabic, is known by its common name Basil. From the Middle East to southeastern Europe and southwest Asia, the original dis- tribution. Basil is an annual herb that in regions with mild winters can also enjoy a longer lifespan. With a spread of up to 40 cm, it grows between 30 and 60 cm long. Extremely aromatic are the round leaves. The leaves are typically fresh green, but there is a variety called Ocimum basilicum 'Purpurascens' with a very attractive dark-red to purplish-red foliage. In summer, the flower occurs in spikes of single white flowers of 0.5–0.8 cm. The 'Purpurascens' flowers are medium violet. Basil prefers a low salinity, moist soil, but likes sunny areas with low air humidity
