Context and Site Analysis
FORM AND TOPOGRAPGY Carlton is an established heritage suburb with mixed contexts of residential, educational, medical and commercial zones which are characterised by terrace houses, lanes and established public parks. Within the site the relevance of surrounding traic and Public transport dominated roads include that of Nicholson, Rathdowne, Elgin and Lygon Street.
FORM AND TOPOGRAPGY The interchangeable multi-use buildings of the inner Northern suburbs are precedented to lower scaled developments. Due to the increasing spread of Melbourne CBD, the new buildings expanding across the medical, educational and residential establish ments set precedents that are up to 40m in height with a maximum of 54m. The Idea of Air Corridors The idea of the connection between two seperate Units located in dierent buildings is achieved by the design of the Air Corridor. The air corridors helps enlarge the internal space and reshaped the form of the building. The corridors are designed to use large window glazing to avoid too much sunlight blocking for the House unit under them.

Design Project 2 - Living House
Multi-Generational to Dual Occupancy
Purposed Site Plan (Roof Plan) I choose to keep the original site condition as the 4-6 and 2 MacArthur Place North Buildings will stay as its existing location. There are three skylight designed to gain more north sunlight due to the narrow site consition with only 5m times 28m.

Scale: 1:200 @A2
Idea of Sunlighting and Natural Ventilation More Sunlight will be gain through glazing by changing the shape of the building to create more surface facing north. The natural ventilation has been achieved by creating more windows on dierent directions. (Generation of Ideas Sunlight and Ventilation)
Idea of Encouraging more Interactions In the neighbourhood area specially in the Nicholls Laneway, Neighbours can see each other and say Hi by creating this ďŹ rst oor balcony which encourage more interacting in the community.
