a vertical public space
//treeČio is a paronomasia/pun, of the words tree + tripio tripio comes from the greek word þúĄĒöù which means holey
//treeČio is a building.
or, even better, it is an intervention in a building, in order to become an, open, public, green, and ludic vertical space.
the building is located in Thessaloniki, Greece in the area of Ano Ladadika, in the city centre, and more specifically, at the junction of the streets Tsimiski 1 & Katouni. VALAORITOU

we have to deal with a large empty shell, in the centre of the city, empty of life. this made us wonder how could architecture transform this carcass into a vertical public space full of joy and vividness at the same time, its rigid structure both concerning the floor plan and the facades, has always been a challenge for further experimentation in terms of breaking this ‘seriousness’.

hybrid city
as a field of experience
// abstract Today digital media are more and more widely used and are becoming essential tools of urban life. Physical and digital world complement each other, and the experience and the relationship between people and urban space are radically changed. At the same time, the role of architecture, as a mediator in the human-environment relationship, seems to be assumed today by the interfaces connecting individuals to the digital world.
In recent years, there has been an increasing tendency to spread and integrate interfaces in the physical space in a way that is not always perceived by the user. Gradually, dipoles such as the public-private one, which were characterizing the analogue world and traditionally defined the degree of interaction and communication with others, are not unaffected. The more the interfaces improve and become more and more invisible, the two ends of these dipoles are so close to one another that they can eventually be said to be abolished. From this abolition of dipoles emerges a patchwork, a hybrid situation, since gradually, public spaces cease to have “pure identities and individuals are active simultaneously in both the physical and the digital world.
Therefore, we are already talking about a new reality that is expected to radically change the way we interact with each other and with space. At the same time, questions arise as to whether and how these developments affect urban life and society as well as our relationship with the public sphere. While, on the one hand, the development of new technologies is said to contribute to the death of public urban spaces such as squares, streets and parks, on the other hand, there is the view that it creates new forms of public sphere and interaction that deserves to explore more.
In this new treaty, architects traditionally trained in the orchestration of complex relationships between man and the environment are called upon to take their place. Now that this relationship is augmented and therefore changed, it is challenging to revise the design methods to respond to the new hybrid reality.
