Man electrocuted in Bandipora Srinagar, May 04: Ghulam Mohammad Sheikh son of Abdul Ahad resident of Potushahi, Bandipora received an electric shock at Potushahi Bandipora. Pulwama youth booked under PSA Srinagar, May 04: A youth has been booked under Public Safety Act (PSA), described as lawless law by Amnesty International, and has been shifted to Kathua Jail, official sources told GNS today. They said Waseem Ahmad Sofi (23), son of Bashir Ahmad of Dangerpora village of Pulwama in South Kashmir was arrested by police last week. Lifted 300 MTs of garbage from curfew-bound areas:SMC Srinagar, May 4: The Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) claimed to have lifted around 300 metric tonnes of garbage from the old parts of Srinagar city on Sunday where curfew remained enforced recently. According to a statement issued to KNS, the SMC carried out a special drive in curfew-bound areas to ensure cleanliness and sanitation. The instructions to this effect was made by SMC commissioner Dr G N Qasba. "Cleanliness of the city remains our priority area," said Qasba. The SMC recovered and shifted 300 metric tonnes today, which crosses the amount of average garbage lifted on a particular Sunday multifold. Dozens of garbage-lifting vehicles ferried it for scientific disposal. Around 75 truckloads of garbage were lifted from the old parts of the city. The drive was carried out by 600 employees, who worked since the Sunday morning in the city. The shrines and mosques remained priority areas during the exercise.
