Srinagar, Jan 20: The information provided by Tehsil office Ganderbal has indicated that even deceased persons have been provided Ration Cards while from past 8 years, the employees of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Department availed the benefits from these ration cards and sold ration in black. According to CNS, the residents of Barasoo Ganderbal in Central Kashmir staged a massive protest against CA&PD alleging that the employees of the department for petty gains issued ration cards to non-residents as well as to dead persons. Scores of protestors assembled in Press Enclave Srinagar and raised anti-CA&PD slogans. Tight security across Jammu and Kashmir ahead of RD Srinagar, Jan 20: Six days ahead of January 26 celebrations, the security across Jammu and Kashmir was further intensified on Monday.Reports reaching GNS said that that CRPF and police further intensified the security apparatus in Srinagar and other districts of the valley to prevent any possible militant attacks and to ensure trouble free celebrations across the Valley. Bakshi Stadium, the main venue of the celebrations has been put under the security blanket to prevent any untoward incident. Besides it, security has also been strengthened in other parts of the city particularly Lal Chowk and its adjoining areas. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Srinagar, Amit Kumar told GNS that police has made elaborate security arrangements. 2 militants killed in South Kashmir encounters Srinagar, Jan 20: Two militants were killed in two separate encounters with army and police in Kulgam and Pulwama districts of south Kashmir. Official sources told GNS that SOG and army’s 9 RR on a tip-off laid a siege around Shampora village of Qazigund in Kulgam district early this morning and started search operations. The search team came under fire when they made advances to the residential house of Ghulam Ahmad Parray, where the Hizb militant was hiding. India Successfully Test Fires Agni-IV Odisha, January 20: AGNI-IV, the 4000 kms range Nuclear Capable Ballistic Missile was successfully launched today at 1052 hrs from the Wheeler island off the coast of Odisha. This was the third consecutively successful trial and the last one in the series of development launches. The missile took off majestically, rose to a height of over 850 km, covered the intended range in about 20 minutes, hit the target with two digit accuracy; meeting all mission objectives and proving the capabilities of the missile. The AGNI-IV missile propelled by composite solid fuel rocket motor technology was launched from its road mobile launcher indigenously developed by DRDO.
