India invites heads of SAARC countries to attend swearing-in ceremony of Modi May 21: India has invited heads of South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) countries to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Narendra Modi as Prime Minister on Monday. Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai are among the leaders of eight member regional grouping who have been invited. Official sources told in New Delhi Wednesday that the Foreign Secretary Sujatha Singh has written to her SAARC counterparts, inviting their leaders to attend the ceremony. President Karzai has already accepted the invitation. Three thousand guests are expected to attend swearing-in ceremony at the forecourt of the Rashtrapati Bhavan. Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and other leaders from the state today praised Prime Minister-elect Narendra Modi for inviting Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to his swearing in ceremony on May 26. Omar, on twitter, said, excellent move by Narendra Modi to invite SAARC leaders, especially Pak PM for his swearing in. He hoped this was the beginning of sustained talks. He, however, wondered how BJP would have reacted to a similar move by Congress.

Cracks appear in NC fort, Resentment in cadres on Omar’s performance Demand of reinstallation of Dr. Farooq, removal of Omar increases From our Special Correspondent Srinagar, May 21: The heated argument and sharpened questions on the performance and leadership of chief Minister Omar Abdullah in the core group introspection meetings is indicative of the fact that discontentment is growing in NC cadres who blame its leadership particularly its working president for the worst ever electoral debacle in the recently held Lok Sabha Elections. The party has tasted such a humiliating white wash for the first time since it dispensed with plebiscite movement and decided to participate in the electoral process. It is not surprising to see such kind of revolt like situation as the party cadres including some senior ministers are not happy with the style of functioning of Omar

Abdullah. They blame that he does not take them into confidence while taking important decisions and behave as a dictator. They further believe that he is in the company of two or three persons from Kashmir and Jammu and it is they who rule the roost. While talking to Zabarwan Times, a senior National Conference leader questioned the propriety of those so called young turks and said that they are cutting the roots of this once the most popular political party of the state. Another on the condition of anonymity said that he (Omar Abdullah) thinks like a European but works in a sensitive state like J&K. He further said that the recent statement by Omar asking its cadres to give him the reasons about the National Conference’s debacle through net is as foolish as anything. He clarified that the internet is
