Islam does not teach what happened in Budgam

Have mainstream and separatist leaders gone underground? Shahana Srinagar, July 23: The eruption of group clashes in some areas of Budgam district have raised many questions about our social and religious bonds which have off late suffered because of the winds of intolerance and impatience. Islam is a religion known for its human values, co-existence, tolerance, brotherhood, amity, communal harmony and for recognition and respect of other fellow beings besides deliverance of jus-

tice, on the basis of equality before the divine law. This religion became popular within a short span of time, as it treated and provided equal opportunities to at par with monarchs; it delivered the justice without discrimination, it gave equal rights to all human beings based on justice and equality, it brought revolutionary changes in socio-religious and economic fields in the world and it never recognized sects and beliefs though it recognized and respected right to expression.

Despite its clear decrees, the Muslims in the whole of the world are in disarray because of their own faults of not following and adhering to the teachings of Quran and Prophet, who are Sunnies and who are Shias? Both followers of Islam, believing on the basic tenants of this religion as also the Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him), the last of the Prophets. If they follow the same religion with minor differences here and there, why should they become murderers, assassins and

killers of each other? Why should they damage the property of each other in a brutal and wild manner which the Islam never approves of? The happenings in Budgam in a society like ours is shameful and both the communities particularly the religious heads should introspect and take remedial measure so that such happenings never recur making us to bow our heads in shame. The valley was just recouping and recovering See Budgam on Pg. 11
