Vice President hopes leprosy-free world 18 injured in road mishaps

Srinagar, Feb 15: Eighteen persons including five policemen were injured in different road accidents across the valley. In a police statement issued to KNS, eight persons were injured when a Scorpio bearing registration number Jk05B/3982, they were travelling in, skidded off the road and fell in the river Jehlum at Nowshera, Uri, in the jurisdiction of Police station Boniyar, Baramulla. APDP demands fresh probe into Pathribal fake encounter Srinagar, Feb 15: Activists of Association of parents of disappeared persons (APDP) on Saturday staged peaceful demonstration in this capital city demanding reopening of the Pathribal Fake encounter case that was closed by army last month. Reports reaching GNS said that dozens of activists of APDP led by its chairperson Parveena Ahangar appeared at Press Colony, Lal Chowk and staged a peaceful demonstration against the army’s verdict giving clean chit to its men, accused of killing five innocent civilians in a fake encounter and dubbing them as militants. CoI to hold sitting on Tuesday Srinagar, Feb 15: The one-man judicial commission, appointed to inquire into circumstances leading to the killing of four persons by paramilitary CRPF in Shopian district on September 7 last year, shall be conducting the further proceedings on Tuesday. According to GNS, the Inquiry Commission shall hold sitting at Circuit House Shopian on February 18. On 4 October last, the government issued as SRO (434) regarding appointment of the COI for inquiring into the circumstances that led to firing by paramilitary CRPF personnel, killing four persons at Gangran Shopian on September 7.
