Based in the nationally listed Apollo Hotel Amsterdam, The Harbour Club Amsterdam Zuid sits at a spot where five canals converge. Some five years after its official opening, and following the announcement of a fifth Harbour Club in The Hague, the time has come for a major expansion. La Grande Brasserie, formerly Bodon restaurant, will be renovated into a Harbour Club with a dash of glamour, stunning art, a walk-in wine vault and an open kitchen. The current restaurant will be converted into an outdoor terrace with an even better view of Amsterdam’s canals. The successful concept behind The Harbour Club will remain unchanged, with an international menu featuring dishes prepared with only the finest ingredients.
Prior to announcing this expansion, the Apollo Hotel Amsterdam also unveiled the revamped interiors of 174 rooms. The hotel originally opened its doors as a pavilion for the Summer Olympic Games in 1928. In 2017 the hotel’s lobby was renovated. Forty-nine rooms were transformed into designer rooms and suites. With the Olympic Stadium just around the corner, and inspired by the Olympic Games that played such a key role in its history, now the hotel’s remaining 174 rooms have also been completely restyled.
Willemijn Groothengel, General Manager at Apollo Hotel Amsterdam: ‘With the 2017 renovation some two years behind us, we felt it was time for these finishing touches. Our hotel’s central location makes it a popular base for international tourists, business guests and Amsterdam locals. With that in mind, this transformation is not only a splendid addition for our hotel guests, but also fits well in the characteristic “Old Zuid” setting.’
