What Is Net-Zero? Net-zero is the term used to describe when the amount of greenhouse gases produced is equal to the amount of greenhouse gases removed from the atmosphere. Net-zero can be achieved by countries, industries, companies or individuals that have the goal of tackling climate change at the top of their agenda.

In June 2019 the United Kingdom became the first major economy in the world to pass legislation committing the country to achieve net-zero emissions by the year 2050.

This UK target effectively means that the country’s net greenhouse gas emissions will be cut by 100%, relative to the levels in 1990.

Reduce the emissions that are created and released into the atmosphere 2.
