The Big Bang is the beginning of everything; space, time, matter, and energy were thus born from that tiniest point. The theatre of Zuni first started from an idea, and then new space and new time were created. From that experimental focal point, different media – light and sound, video and installation, as well as men – exploded and various possibilities were formed through the impacts of exchanges, and a collection of rich and colourful performances were evolved. Theatre Big Bang is not purely an artistic pursuit, it also penetrates and sheds influence on multiple dimensions. New and burning stars are born on the social, political, aesthetic, cultural exchange and policy initiatives plains. These novae illuminate new lives, and enable the power of arts to spread to all directions. This explosive power will continue to expand and spread far and wide.
大爆炸是一切的開始；從那最微小的一點， 空間、時間、物質、能量，如是誕生。 進念的劇場，從意念開始，創造出嶄新的空 間、嶄新的時間。在這實驗的中心點，不同 的媒體 — 光影、聲音、錄像、裝置、還有人 — 透過交流的撞擊，併發出各種可能性，衍 生出豐富多彩的表演作品。 劇場大爆炸不只是純粹的藝術追求，影響也 滲透在多元的維度裡。從社會、政治、美學、 到文化交流、政策倡議，孕育出更多發熱的 新星，照亮更多的生命，讓藝術的力量一直 向四方八面傳播。 而這股爆炸性的力量，會一直擴散、延續， 無遠弗至。

Dream Illusion Bubble Shadow is derived from the last chapter of the Diamond Sutra (“All conditioned phenomena are like dreams, illusions, bubbles, shadows”and uses the negating logic of No to create the aesthetics of Emptiness. Time is structure. One and Zero. The body transforms into images. Movements on stage pass through virtual time and the actual space. Live guitar performs the no-sound of guqin. Synthesized electronic music interacts with body movements. In the five parts of Dream Illusion Bubble Shadow, dancers of Dance Forum Taipei together with artists from Hong Kong and Tokyo, co-create an atypical contemporary multimedia dance work that transforms the ordinary norms of presentation — introduction, elucidation, transition and conclusion.

Contempt 2014 is a laboratory for experiments. Nine young Kunqu opera artists from the Jiangsu Province will boldly infuse issues of their concerns into the time and space of the theatre, and develop them into the first ever theatre collective creation by both traditional and contemporary artists in the mainland. With such arts, thus we have such a society? Or, with such a society, thus we have such arts? Artists are like the Toki, an endangered species, or they could be indulgent and arrogant frogs at the bottom of a well. They could choose to be looked at by people in a zoo, or they could strengthen themselves and get out of their cage, and open up a new world for themselves. Contempt 2014 is truly a laboratory where we look at the sky with a very limited view.

一， 可 以 是 唯 一， 唯 一 是 獨 尊， 是 自 我， 是 沒 有 別 的 能 比 得 上 的 意 思。 不 過， 無 論 是 征 服 別 人 還 是 戰 勝 自 己， 重 點 其 實 不 在 於 誰， 而在於鬥。
One, can be the only one, and the only one is unique, is the self, is something that nothing can compare to. However, no matter it is a case of conquering others or overcoming oneself, the point is not about who, but about combating.
一， 也 可 以 是 最 豐 富 的 渾 沌 整 體。《說 文 解 字》 有 云：「惟 初 太 始， 道 立 於 一， 造 分 天 地， 化 成 萬 物」。 但 除 了 哲 學 中 那 種 虛 空 的 均勻狀態外，渾沌在物理上是非綫性 系統，既確定又隨機，必然與偶然共 存，充滿辯證性。 同是一，但此一與彼一的差異，亦正 好是邢亮與黃大徽之間的對照：一個 科班出身另一個埋頭自修，一個擅於 處理身體在時間空間中的挪移，另一 個概念先行思考為重。 《無 | 雙》是「我」的一場仗，本位與 融合的爭持。 《無 | 雙》也是序中的亂，亂中的序， 清清楚楚的糾纏。

One, can be the richest chaotic whole. It is said in Shuowen Jiezi (Explaining and Analysing Characters, a Chinese dictionary from the Han Dynasty in the early 2nd Century),“In the beginning of the universe, the chaotic state is one, and then the two of heaven and earth were formed, and between heaven and earth men were evolved, and then everything came into being.”Apart from the philosophical and ephemeral state, chaos is a nonlinear system in physics. It is both fixed and random, a coexistence of certainty and haphazardness, full of dialectic. Both are one, but this one and that one is different, and is exactly the contrast between Xing Liang and Dick Wong. One is professionally trained, and the other one is totally self-taught. One is good at handling the moving and changing body in time and space, while the other one concentrates on concept and thinking. 0 | 2 is a battle of the“selves”, a struggle between individuality and integration. 0 | 2 is chaos in order, and order in chaos, a very distinct entanglement.

《 備忘錄 》是進念聯合藝術總監榮念曾 2014 年的全新 劇作，匯集文學、歷史、非物質文化遺產及當代戲 劇。四部有關「 記憶 」的實驗短編，從四位已故華人 作者的經典作品出發，包括： 中國四大名著中最具爭議：曹雪芹《 石頭記 》 嘉靖八才子崑曲之寶：李開先《 寶劍記．夜奔 》 中國京劇四大名旦：程硯秋《 荒山淚 》 新加坡劇場第一人：郭寶崑《 老九 》 榮氏將與來自傳統川劇、崑劇與當代劇場的表演藝 術家，共同尋找與審視記憶的方式，試圖整理個人 歷史與重構集體記憶。 今次，榮氏再度以「一桌二椅」的簡約舞台形式創作。 「 一桌二椅 」源於中國傳統戲曲寫意抽象式的舞台裝 置，榮氏結合當代劇場的簡約風格，自 1997 年起以 不同面向演繹這簡約多變的舞台裝置，讓來自世界 各地、不同界別的藝術創作人進行實驗創作；藉此 啟動跨地區、跨文化、跨領域的對話與合作，計劃 至今已委約超過 100 位藝術家參與創作。
Memorandum is the latest work of Danny Yung, Co-Artistic Director of Zuni Icosahedron, in 2014. It is a brand new theatre production and conglomeration of literature, history, intangible cultural heritage and contemporary theatre. There will be four experimental short pieces on“memory”, based on the classic works of four deceased Chinese artists, and the works are:
Story of the Stone , also known as Dream of the Red Chamber by Cao Xueqin, the most controversial of the four great Chinese novels The treasure of Kunqu aria, Flee by Night from The Legend of the Precious Sword by Li Kaixian, one of the Eight Talents in the Reign of Jiajing Tears of Barren Hill by Cheng Yanqiu, one of the four great Dan (female roles) actors in Peking opera The musical, Lao Jiu by Kuo Pao Kun, the best of the theatre in Singapore
合作機構 In Collaboration with
Yung gathers together artists from traditional Sichuan opera, Kunqu opera and contemporary theatre in order to search for and examine the issue of memory. It is his attempt to organize personal history and reconstruct collective memory. Once again, Yung is using the minimal form of the stage of“one table two chairs”. This concept of“one table two chairs”has its origin from the abstract and impressionistic style of staging in traditional Chinese opera. Since 1997, Yung has been using this minimal and versatile form of staging, combines it with the minimalist style of contemporary theatre, to create experimental works with artists from various places of the world. Until now, more than 100 artists have been commissioned to participate in this project of trans-regional, cross-cultural and interdisciplinary dialogue and collaboration.

Terms & Conditions for Advance Booking
• 所有訂票表格均以先到先得方法處理，進念．二十面體不 能保證所有訂票人士均能成功訂取門票；而座位分配將由 進念．二十面體作最終決定。 • 購買每張門票，只可享用其中一項優惠計劃。 • 折扣按每張門票獨立計算。每張門票折扣後的票價將計算 至個位數，不足港幣一元亦作一元計算。 • 折扣優惠按每張訂購表格獨立計算。如再次訂購門票，之 前所享之優惠不能累積至下一次訂票時使用。 • 預訂之門票將以郵遞方式寄給閣下。 • 進念 · 二十面體並不負責因顧客提供失效或不正確地址而 導致的門票遺失。
• All bookings will be dealt with on a first-come-first-served basis. Zuni Icosahedron cannot guarantee the availability of tickets. Allocation of seats will be at the discretion of Zuni Icosahedron. • Subscribers can enjoy only one of the discount packages, and a discount package cannot be used together with other subscription discount offers in purchasing the same tickets. • The discount will be calculated upon each ticket purchased. Zuni Icosahedron is a registered charitable cultural organization. In 2009 Zuni joined the HKCSS with the aim of enabling more people from different sectors of the society to have exposure to theatre and experimental arts, and raising public interest in and awareness of the field. Since then, more innovative offerings have been brought to a growing number of service targets of HKCSS and CSSA recipients for attending theatre performance. Who are the donees? 「待用門票」的受惠者為領取綜援人士及社聯400多個機構會員的服 務對象。社福機構透過「進念公益門票計劃」報名，索取門票觀看進念 的演出。受惠機構名單將刊於2014劇季各演出節目的場刊內。 The “Suspended Ticket”is designed for CSSA recipients and the service targets of over 400 member agencies of HKCSS. By enrolling in“Zuni Welfare Ticket Scheme” , the welfare agencies obtain complementary tickets to Zuni’s performances. The list of enrolled welfare agencies will be published in all performance house programmes during the 2014 season.

進念通識及藝術教育計劃
Zuni's Liberal Studies & Arts-in-Education Programme 「 進念通識及藝術教育計劃 」是進 念自 2009 年起，為配合新高中學 制和通識教育的推行而推出相應的 藝術教育活動，主題涵蓋本地社會 時事、公民教育，以致有關於歷 史、哲學、文化、藝術概念等。 透過觀賞不同主題、不同類型的演 出，培養學生識見，開拓他們的藝 術視野。
As a response to the new needs generated under the implementation of New Senior Secondary Academic Structure and Liberal Studies, Zuni introduced its Liberal Studies and Arts-in-Education Programme in 2009. The programme covers topics from local social issues and current affairs to concepts related to history, philosophy, arts and culture; addresses and explores issues that are of social and cultural concerns with different art forms like theatre and workshops. Guided viewing sessions are specially arranged for secondary school students, with the aim at fostering their ability to gather more knowledge and to interpret various concepts. The programme would enhance their competence and help develop their personal insights, as well as their independent and critical thinking skills.

《 朱䴉國際藝術節 2014》為《 朱䴉計劃 》的年度 重點項目。項目由進念．二十面體、江蘇省演 藝集團崑劇院及國際交流基金會聯合主辦。是一 個開拓性、跨越性及傳薪性的藝術節 － 當中結 集當代與傳統；亞洲大師與青年崑曲精英演員的 互動。 《 朱䴉計劃 》由進念．二十面體主催策劃。曾參 與共同發展的跨領域藝術工作者來自東京、北 京、南京、曼谷、新加坡、登巴薩等地。當中 包括能劇、崑劇、泰國古典舞蹈、巴里古典舞 蹈、當代劇場及當代舞蹈等的藝術家。意圖通 過跨越、溝通、合作，拓展亞洲地區文化辯證 的發展。 今年參與的亞洲藝術家名單及節目詳情將會容後 公佈。
“Toki International Arts Festival 2014”is a major event of the annual“Toki Project”. The Festival is co-organised by Zuni Icosahedron, Jiangsu Performing Arts Group Kun Opera Theatre and the Japan Foundation. The Project is a groundbreaking and cross-boundary arts event that aims at preserving cultures and traditions. The programme involves Asian masters and young elites of Kunqu opera, and they would interact with each other in both the contemporary and the traditional. “Toki Project”is initiated and curated by Zuni Icosahedron (Hong Kong). Collaborating artists come from Tokyo, Beijing, Nanjing, Bangkok, Singapore, Denpasar etc., including performing artists from Noh theatre, Kunqu opera, classical Thai dance, classical Bali dance, contemporary theatre and contemporary dance theatre. It is our intention that through their communications and collaborations, a more dialectic cultural development would be started in the Asian region. Participating artists and programme details will be announced later.

About“Toki Project”
朱䴉是亞洲頻臨絕種的珍貴鳥類。上海世博會 上，日本政府委約榮念曾創作崑劇能劇的演出， 就是以朱䴉及環保為主題。其後，榮氏將朱䴉 比喻傳統表演藝術家，探討社會培育藝術家是 否相等培育朱䴉，只為供人玩賞，還是該將它 們放生大自然生態。
Toki is an endangered bird species from East Asia. In 2010, commissioned by the Japanese government for the Japan Pavilion at Shanghai World Expo, Danny Yung co-created a Kun and Noh experimental theatre work themed on Toki and Environmental Protection. With Toki as the metaphor for traditional performing artists, Yung probes into the query whether artists should be cultivated in protection, merely for ornamental purposes, or be trained to adapt to the social ecology.

Zuni Icosahedron's multimedia play Eighteen Springs celebrates the collaboration of director/designer Mathias Woo, Golden Horse Best Adapted Screenplay winner Jimmy Ngai, music director Yu Yatyiu@PMPS, renowned actress singer Elaine Jin and tanci master Jin Lisheng.
胡恩威導演及設計，金馬獎最佳改編劇本魏紹恩聯合 編劇，人山人海于逸堯音樂總監，金燕玲特邀演出， Adapted from Eileen Chang's homonym novel, the play Eighteen 金麗生大師評彈唱演，進念．二十面體的多媒體音樂 Springs, re-ran in Hong Kong in 2013 following the successes of its 2012 話劇《 半生緣 》於 2012 年香港首演、2013 年新加坡 debut and showing in Singapore's Huayi Chinese Festival of Arts 2013, 華藝節及香港載譽重演；演出特把旁白和人物獨白摒 highlights the challenge of conveying the emotions of the characters 棄，而又能表達角色的情感。魚龍舞罷星如雨，驀然 without the original monologues in the novel. 凝眸，沒有早一步，沒有遲一步；執手輕輕問一句： “We make new attempts this time. focuses on the 7 men and women, wiping off the other insignificant characters,”says director Mathias Woo on the adaptation. Elaine Jin assumes the role of the storyteller with her singing, which integrates the emotional flow of the story. In addition to the subtle acting of performers from the Shanghai Dramatic Arts Centre, Eighteen Springs features tanci performance by Suzhou pingtan artists Jin Lisheng and Yu Qun. Tanci, the traditional Wu-dialect storytelling, is instrumental in delivering the inner feelings of the characters.
