Editor’s Note

“You know you’re in love when you can’t fall asleep because reality is finally better than your dreams,” - Dr. Seuss. Throughout the course of the year I’ve met beautiful people and learned a lot of lessons. I took a emotional challenge which was to turn my dreams into reality. I’m honored that people appreciate my vision. The entire team here, has spent the better part of a year working tirelessly to make 2015 amazing. You saw evidence of that for yourself late last year, when we redesigned the site. Now it’s the magazine’s turn: With our January 2016 edition, we’re unveiling a new look for I Am Zain Photography. We hope you like what you see. As our design director and senior graphic designer I worked hard to develop and implement a design that’s elegant, eye-catching and easy to navigate. Once of the most obvious changes, as you’ve probably already noted, is our new logo. The “Z” that people keep asking about. It means unity as well as it being a mysterious icon. We’ve also been pushing the slogan, “Encouraging Natural Beauty,” which is the core of movement. Whether you read us in print or online, you represent a readership that loves the natural beauty around us. Remember to be yourself and others will appreciate you. We have completed two years. INTERVIEW BY: PHILLIP DIAS JR. I’ve never thought to be where I am right now. Years ago, I was simple kid struggling to make it in this world, until I looked through a lens. Being a photographer is never easy, actually, trying to strive as an artist is possibly the hardest, yet most captivating dream I’ve created for myself. We all have that one goal we want to achieve no matter what comes our way and snapping photos is mine. Seeing through a lens is a whole other world and the moment or emotion captured at that time never ceases to amaze me. I love being a part of a community where I can be myself and can allow most to do the same. am now more confident and outgoing, my interview skills have improved drastically, and I find myself booking jobs regularly. In the beginning, this business can be very discouraging, but if you keep pushing and don’t give up, the opportunities will definitely come.

usiness comes naturally to me and I enjoy it immensely. I started my first business when I was nineteen years old. The hard work, dedication, and passion that I gained during college and growing my business carried over into all aspects of my life. Success in modeling and acting is my business now and I treat it the same as any other job. I always follow the best ethics, concentrate on what will benefit my career, and remain professional no matter what the job or atmosphere might be. organization, proper scheduling, and never falling through on a commitment are qualities that I possess thanks to my background and education.

modeling is a goal for me. It took me a long time to break out of my shell and feel comfortable enough to follow my dreams. As for the future, I would love to work in commercial modeling, bridal, fitness, and swimsuit. Sport’s Illustrated, Women’s Health, The Knot, and guess are some of my favorites. I have a comedic personality that I want to show in my work as well as through film, hosting, and television. my ultimate goal is to one day be in action films and my favorite show, “The Walking Dead”! my progression in the entertainment industry has been quite the journey! I took a giant leap from being an alpaca farmer to becoming a model for an agency in new York city. I

every model has their own personal limitations. mine are simple. If I don’t feel comfortable with a job, I won’t do it. I’m very cautious, I even earned myself the name “nervous noely”. needless to say, you probably won’t see me hanging off cliffs or swimming with sharks for a great shot anytime soon. I strive to keep my image clean and respectable, which might limit me to certain jobs that I feel may tarnish what I try to portray. I’m open to many clothing styles. I mix it up all of the time to make my look fun and unpredictable. Restrictions would be anything offensive to feelings and beliefs of others. The most touchy subject for me would be the fur industry. In our modern world, we have no need for real fur products . . it breaks my heart. many designers make beautiful and luxurious faux fur products now that provide the same feel and look. There’s no amount of money in the world that would ever get me to wear or model fur products. I’ll always stand up for this cause. A lot of models and designers inspire me. calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger are classic, fashionable, and they both also eliminated the use of fur in their lines. christian Dior gowns are incredible and a top favorite. I’ve always imagined myself wearing one and feeling like a princess. I’m obsessed with Pnina Tornai’s wedding gown and accessory designs. I’m like a moth to a flame so to speak, for things that sparkle and shine. candice Swanepoel, Adriana Lima, and gigi Hadid are obvious choices for my favorite models. Their photos inspire much of my work. The modeling industry is no longer excluding shorter women, curvy women, and women who wouldn’t otherwise fit the old standards. Ashley graham’s photos in Sports Illustrated are inspirational because they open doors for women like me who don’t fit the typical modeling standards.

very photographer has their own style and preference for photography. Bad photographs can have a lot to do with lighting, composition, and poor backgrounds. As a model, you can pick out problems with photos because you’re critical of yourself. It actually helps to have other people look at the image. I do this to get a better idea if it’s the subject or photography that’s lacking. After years of working in the industry, I notice every detail, like weird hands and over-retouching. . . distracting backgrounds, poor lighting causing darkness under the eyes, and so much more. good photos need to be visually interesting, show emotion, and capture the viewer’s attention, in addition to the model looking great. my dream photo shoot would be working for guess. There’s something about guess ads that I’ve always been obsessed with. I find myself stalking them on Instagram all the time! much of my inspiration for fashion and my work comes from guess. I love the old Hollywood glam mixed with edgy girl-next-door looks. The big hair, smokey eyes, and denim are right up my alley. If I was a photographer, this is the type of work I would hope to do. Paul and maurice marciano have won numerous awards for their ads, so I’m definitely not the only fan! many incredible supermodels have worked for them as well, giving the company a more powerful image. That would be a dream come true!

nyone can be naturally beautiful on the outside, but not everyone can learn to find it in their own hearts. Yes, I do promote healthy living styles, daily exercise, natural skin care routines, spray tans over tanning beds, and loving your body over changing it, but natural beauty is more than just cosmetics. I encourage natural beauty by following the “golden Rule”, treat others how you would want to be treated, we are all equal. Some people believe status, fame, and money control your personality and demeanor, but I know that no matter where I end up in life, rich or poor, I’ll be the same person. I promote the best ethics at work and in my personal life while standing up for things I am passionate about, like animal cruelty. That’s how I encourage natural beauty.
