I Am Zain SPOTLIGHT

WHO IS ZAIN? I

started out as a Graphic Designer in the year 2006. When I started college, I was actively engaged in graphic designing, but one class opened my creativity, and the way I looked at art had been completely changed. Prior to the course I assumed that art was something no more than an aesthetically pleasing painting, drawing, sculpture and photography. At the completion of the course, I began thinking of art in a different light. Photography means to paint with light and I soon realized that there was more to photography than pressing a button. I realized the goal of an artist is not simply to create a beautiful picture, rather to express opinions, ideas and feelings to a viewer. This is when I began to think of art as a movement of the soul and mind that is brought to life through my work. Similar to writing, art is simply another way we’re able to communicate thoughts to one another. I am beginning to see art is a universal language that can be understood by all who have the ability to tap into all your senses.

This language can be used to express history, religion, politics, philosophy, reality, fantasy, complex feelings, emotions or anything a person wishes to evoke through their work. The photographer creates a painting to communicate something to the viewer and the role of the viewer is to analyze and attempt to find meaning within the work. I wish to help students become more aware of art as a beautiful language through which we can express ourselves. The purpose of my magazine is to not only showcase my work but it is also to serve as a platform for up-and-coming talents. So in other words, if you are musician, singer, dancer, or model, this magazine gives you a chance to show off those skills. I aim to capture the personality of the person, which is important because you want people to see you for who you are. Instagram/ Twitter: iamzainmagazine Website: www.iamzainmagazine.com

“LAST LOVE LOST” Film Director/ Actor: Jahmar Hill Interview By: Phillip Dias Jr.

What was it like to film your 1st film? Was it different from other acting experiences you’ve had? What was the hardest part on filming the film? Sequencing, adapting the screenplay to film? When I first started I didn’t have a script I didn’t know how to write a script so I had to get help from a writer. The hardest part was saving up all my money, I had bills to pay and a lot was happening at the time, so I sold my bmw. How can you relate to the character? Was their similarities between you and character? I can relate to my character Antonio and my self, because we were similar. He went through things in life that set him back in life and I feel we all have some type of setbacks.

What inspired you or led you to film this movie the way it was filmed? Where there certain scenes you had envisioned in your mind (knowing already how you wanted it to be filmed) when reading the screenplay? Well the movie touches on domestic violence, I feel we all witness some type of domestic violence in our life. I wanted to touch on strong points and inspire others to do the right things in life, I figure if a person sees it on big screen then they know how it looks on life. I can honestly say my vision came out the way I wanted it to on screen.

winning, best seller author E.W Brooks. I will be shooting 2 new films this summer and directing a big film called 8 lanes. It’s a lot of great things happening with Jahmar Hill Productions Instagram/ Twitter: Jahmarhill Facebook: Jahmar Hill www.facebook.com/ lastlovelostthemovie Website: www.jahmarhillproductions.com

Do you have any future projects that you’re working on? I recently directed a TV series called Mafietta, written by award

Q&A Interview By: Phillip Dias Jr.

Why do you want to work as a model? Why are you interested in this career? I have been working as a model/ been working in entertainment since I was 14 but back home in Thailand. The reason why I work as a model is because I am very passionate about it as I think it is an artistic place where I can truly express myself as an individual. Modeling to me is something that I find very deeply beautiful and extremely creative where almost anything is accepted, and I believe that it broadens an individual’s perspective and mind. What are your goals as a model? How do you see yourself progress in this field? My goals as a model is to become a successful model working with top tier designers, and then transition into film. What other modeling projects have you done? Could you provide links? Some modeling projects that I have done includes Paris fashion week, New York fashion week, Mid West fashion week to name a few. Other than that I do a lot of runway and editorial. What do you dislike about modeling? As far as modelling I do not dislike anything as I believe that to become successful one has to face both the negative

and positive and not let that affect their choice or how they feel about their career. What advice do you have for other aspiring models? My advice for aspiring models that are really pursuing this as a serious career is NEVER give up and always be prepared with the right materials such as comp card, resume, business cards and always be professional and on time. Also DO NOT take rejection seriously because at the end of the day, when a model gets rejected its not them as an individual, rather its because their look might not fit what the client wants at that moment. Do you have any limitations? Would you model any kind of clothing at all? My limitations are nudity, and yes I would wear any clothing that is picked out in correspondence to the theme of the shoot. G

rowing up I had a lot of restrictions when it came to freedom and self expression, so getting a tattoo was my form of rebellion. But as I got older and started finding myself I made tattoos my way of using art to express who I am. I began getting tattoos of things that I like and things that relate to what I’ve been through in life. And eventually I got tattoos just for the simplicity of liking that certain piece of art. I plan on getting covered in tattoos that represent different people and phases of my life as well as just plain things that I like. Basically, tattoos are my form of self expression and they mean a lot to me because they make me who I am. Even more, now I can use them to my advantage as I begin my journey in becoming an Official SuicideGirl Model/ Pin-Up girl.
