EDITORS’ LETTER
7 – 1966mag.com
D
ear Readers, It’s June, the flowers are in bloom and we are ready to kick summer into gear! You can do yourself a favor and get your own summer party started by taking a dip into this issue of 1966. You’ll find advice about hair care, beauty tips, fitness and more. Take a trip down memory lane with our salute to music mogul Don Cornelius, founder of the revolutionary dance show, Soul Train. He paved the way for today’s music entrepreneurs like Jay-Z and P Diddy. Speaking of entrepreneurs, we highlight Fashionista Tea, Inc. where an upscale tea collection meets the world of fashion. If your significant other is really a big kid at heart, then you will want to take a peek at our luxury item of the month. We won’t tell you what it is, but it just might be the perfect thing for his man cave. Also be sure to imbibe our wine of the month, presented by Chrishon Lampley. Enjoying some good spirits can most definitely lift your spirit. Want to get away? How about a vacation to the Italian island of Capri? It might be small, but it is the playground of the rich and famous. We will show why it is such a hotspot. If you are looking for a whole new look in your home, something old might be the answer: antiques. Learn everything you need to know on your shopping excursions to get beautiful furniture at bargain prices. We only get three precious months of summer each year so make those months count by not missing an issue of 1966. Happy reading! Sincerely, Alicia and Arianne Co-Editors

DAYNE FACEY GORGEOUS MALE MODEL DISCOVERED MODELING WHILE ON VACATION
9 – 1966mag.com
D J S H
ayne Facey was born and raised in Kingston, Jamaica, one of the most beautiful islands of the Caribbean. Jamaica has crystalline waters flowing over gardens of coral, lapping onto soft sandy beaches, and rising
past red soil and lush banana groves into sheer mountains. This is a beautiful country, captivating to the eyes and soul.
amaica cries out to be explored – underwater, on hikes, river bound with a raft, underground with a lamp strapped to your head, or on the road by car or bicycle. However, Dayne had already done it all and was seeking
other adventures.
o, he set off for a journey in Florida and got more than he dreamed possible. While there, he saw young men modeling couture clothing in scenes straight from the pages of GQ.
e had never pursued or thought about modeling until that day.
W
hen he returned to Jamaica, as fate would have it, he heard about a model casting being held. After attending, he was
asked if he really wanted to model. Facey said, “Sure, what’s the worst that can happen.”

T
hus began his life as a male model. Overnight he started booking major runway shows, television appearances and music videos. After honing his modeling chops, Dayne started spending more time in London, Milan,
Paris and New York.

During his international modeling career, he has been privileged to be signed and working with premier agencies, such as: ICM Models, FM Models, Future Models and L’umo Elite. Facey has walked in European shows for Etro, Adidas, and BBM Magazine just to name a few.

Well, he currently resides in New York City. He is represented by the cutting-edge E4 Model Management agency that keeps him busy. Dayne is solidifying his place in the modeling industry as someone with the distinctive ability to combine good looks with great skills.
With Bob Marley, Jamaica gifted us the first global superstar from the developing world. Now Jamaica has given the world Dayne Facey, a gorgeous male model that has just begun to blossom.

Product: Morgan Taylor Professional Nail Lacquer in Chain Reaction Why: I have been on the hunt for a strong metallic nail tint to give my nails a real industrial feel. This color is strong, yet surprisingly blends easily into any ensemble. The polish, in time, seems to fade rather than chip making it easy to remove or simply add a quick coat in order to refresh the nail look.
Product: Ruby Kisses Lip Lacquer in Midnight Plum Black Why: This lip gloss is super pigmented and has serious staying power! Between my meals and Starbucks coffee runs my lip color lasted all day. I love the incredible shine and beautiful deep plum shade too; it is so strong I feel as though the rest of my makeup can remain quite simple. -Arianne Suggs

HOW TO BURN MORE CALORIES ALL DAY LONG Getting up early and going to the gym can be real tough to do; it’s much easier to keep hitting the snooze button instead. So what do you do when you fail to go to the gym but don’t want to feel guilty all day about it? Try getting up just 15 minutes earlier than usual and do some activity to get your metabolism going. Jumping jacks, push-ups, crunches and squats are all excellent ways to get the calorie-burning process started and continuing throughout the day.
HERE ARE SEVEN WAYS YOU CAN BURN MORE CALORIES AND FAT THROUGHOUT THE DAY: 1. Keep things cool – Keeping your home on the cool side will increase your body’s brown fat. The brown fat, in turn, burns calories to help your body stay warm. 2. Drop to the ground – This may sound crazy, but it is better to sit on the floor when watching TV rather than sitting on the couch. The reason is that your muscles have to support you more when seated on the floor and you will have to exert yourself more to stand up again. 3. Do the tedious tasks – Most jobs require little physical effort so we don’t burn as many calories as workers back in the day used to burn. Try copying some documents (burns 12 calories), standing while filing (burns 18 calories) or watering plants and cleaning up your cubicle (burns 15 calories). 4. Do not be a Hercules – After you have done your grocery shopping and are ready to unload your bags from the car, don’t try to carry as many bags as you can into the house. Take one bag at a time so that you make several trips from the car to the house. You could potentially burn 89 calories by taking all those extra steps.

5. Make use of a smaller water bottle – Generally we try to get the biggest water bottle we can find to make sure we are getting plenty of water during the day. However, using a small water bottle will mean having to make more trips to the water cooler to refill it. More trips, means more steps, more steps means more calories burned. 6 .Take five – Whether you are walking on the treadmill or working out on the elliptical make yourself go on for another five minutes, 10 minutes would be even better, and you could burn up to an extra 100 calories. 7. Let the music move you – Rap music has anywhere from 120 to 140 beats per minute, so every time your foot hits the ground there is a beat. Without even knowing it, you will automatically pick up your pace to try to equal the beat. You will end up working harder and therefore, burning more calories. Getting fit or staying fit takes work, but hopefully, these tips will help you to get the job done!

Tips For Safe Waist Training • Use a cotton shirt under the corset to avoid rubbing of the skin. • Skin can become rough due to training so after removing the corset make sure skin is clean and dry then immediately apply a moisturizer. • Don’t just rely on the corset to give you results, start a workout program and eat sensibly in order to lose excess weight and give more tone to the body. • Remember that if the waist measures more than 36 inches the corset needs to be 5 or 6 inches smaller than your waist; otherwise, if your waist is smaller than 36 inches the corset has to be 3 or 4 inches smaller. • Do not train your waist while eating, sleeping or working out. • To achieve drastic results you must work up to waist training for at least 12 hours a day. When beginning your waist training program start by wearing the corset for 4-5 hours.
Alternative Not quite sure if waist training is for you? You are not alone, but rest assured that you can achieve a smaller waist through good old fashion exercise. A great move to help whittle your waist is the plank. Hold this position for 30-60 seconds if you are a beginner or up to to 2 minutes if advanced. Repeat 3 times and you are on your way to a rocking body!

Antique shops are fun, interesting alternatives to run-of-the-mill retailers. Even if you’re just browsing, you’ll find dealers who will be more than happy to ask questions and describe the history of the items they’re displaying. If you don’t have a lot of experience doing this type of shopping, here’s some information that will help make your first antiquing excursion successful and fun.
Developing Relationships Smaller antique shops are great because they provide an opportunity to develop relationships with dealers and their employees. The owners will probably always be there, and often share some of the same interests as you. Instead of just going in and out like a regular store, you’ll have such a good time chatting up the employees you’ll want to stay for hours.
Safety Once you go to a place you trust, you’ll feel secure knowing your purchase is of high quality. For instance, if your dealer says that sofa you’re interested in is a true Victorian-era model, you will know he or she is telling you the truth. Unlike auctions, where what you’re buying is “as is,” reputable antique shops will have fair return policies.
In many instances, they’ll even let you try out an item to make sure it is exactly what you want. This can be a big help if you’re interested in an old oak chest or an Oriental rug, but it doesn’t quite fit with the decor when you bring it home.

Specialty Stores There are probably a lot of antique shops in your city that have their own unique personalities and specialize in certain items. One store may feature French furniture while others may carry vintage books, jewelry and collectibles. Look at each store’s website and make sure they sell something that piques your interest before paying a visit.
Negotiating Most of the time, the prices you see in these types of stores aren’t set in stone; there’s a little “wiggle room” where you can negotiate. But you shouldn’t take this as an opportunity to nitpick an item and point out everything that’s wrong. That may result in a polite invitation to take your business elsewhere. Simply ask the dealer if he or she can do better on the price and you may receive a discount of about 10 percent.
Sales Most of the stores in your area will typically hold big sales events once or twice a year, so if you’re not in a rush to get a particular item you’ll probably be better served waiting for a while. The results could be well worth it.
Don’t be afraid to go into various antique shops in your area and just browse. You’ll very likely not have to deal with any sort of “hard sell” approach and you may even wind up making a new friend or two.
