Your Mind Matters With Roxy… Hi readers, I’m Roxanne Rhodes and I’m a Psychotherapist, Catering For Most Breeds Nail & Claw Trimming Clinical Ear Cleaning Fully Insured hypnotherapist and Hand Stripping Full Grooms, Clips coach with a private Bathing practice in Clowne. more and more business coaching, mostly with women, often mums, who are trying to juggle it all. It’s an area I have heaps of experience in and I get really good results. Coaching can build your confidence and help you to recognise your self-worth. It helps you understand your strengths and work on improving the areas that you want to. Its aim is to improve performance and it generally focuses on the present and upcoming, rather than the past or distant future. Although I said that the two practices are completely different, it’s perfectly possible for the lines between therapy and coaching to blur – and that’s fine! I have clients that come for therapy, start to feel better and then begin to move into coaching work. It happens naturally all of the time. I also have clients that come for coaching and realise that they are ‘stuck’ because of a past issue that might need a session of therapy. The sessions don’t have to be labelled, but if a client comes for therapy and we move to coaching I’ll make sure that we discuss this. Ethically, if they are better then I don’t want them to think that they still NEED to come. If they want to continue with coaching, then that’s wonderful and I love watching a client take great strides forwards! To have a chat about therapy or coaching, feel free to drop me a line, and as always, I’ll see you next month. See you next month. Marshall
The first of two films this month based on real people and events. The first is about Thurgood Marshall who became the first African-American to be appointed as a Supreme Court Justice. The film focuses on one of his first cases of his career when he worked for the NAACP, the National Association for the Advancement of Coloured People. As the nation teeters on the brink of WWII, a nearly bankrupt NAACP sends Marshall (Chadwick Boseman) to conservative Connecticut to defend a black chauffeur (Sterling K. Brown, This is Us) against his wealthy socialite employer in a sexual assault and attempted murder trial that quickly became tabloid fodder. In need of a

Kay’s Nails… Hello lovely readers! My advert has run in this amazing magazine since 2007 but you wont have seen it since December! As any of my lovely clients will already know my partner Paul and I were expecting our first child in March 2017. We were super excited and my pregnancy was going brilliantly with no problems. In January I started suffering with a headache and a really nasty gastric pain. Just thinking it was a pregnancy symptom I ignored it at first. I never stay at home in bed and one day my headache was so bad I stayed home. My partner and family made me ring the midwife Sue at lunchtime. When I went in my face and neck were really swollen and my blood pressure was 180/120 and I had protein in my urine. Which indicated that I had pre-eclampsia. I was 30 weeks when I went to Jessops and we had
Keira-Maize 9 weeks early on 22nd January weighing just 2.6 pound. She may have been tiny but she was definitely mighty. We spent 2 weeks in Neo-Natal at Jessops and then a further 3 weeks at Kingsmill Neonatal. Keira-Maize was discharged from hospital on the 1st of March weighing just 4.3 pound. She was so tiny but full of character and we loved having her home with us. She takes everything in her stride and is an amazing little girl. We cant believe she has just turned 7 months old. She is quickly catching up her cousin Lincoln who was born the day before. She has put on a whopping 11.5 pound since leaving hospital and has just enjoyed an amazing road trip to France. She loves being out meeting new people and going to new places. I am now finishing my maternity and back at work from the end of September. So please see my advert to arrange your appointment.

Castle Street Medical Centre … … PPG Report for August 2017-08-27 On the 24th of July, I and another member of the group attended the joint meeting of HCCG and NDCCGs at Matlock. The meeting was well attended and was streamed live on the internet. The closure of the Bolsover Hospital was confirmed, but it won’t close until an alternative venue is in place. On the 8th August, the same two members attended the HCCG PRG meeting at Williamthorpe. The meeting was informed of the latest information on the 21c programme. There is to be a ‘Dementia Rapid Response Team,’ installed to care for the ‘frail older people’. Investment for this has already begun, and it will be probably start in the Dales area. It is hoped that the DRRT will lead to fewer beds being required in hospital. The 24 beds at CRH, will be dedicated to patients requiring ‘rehab’. These beds will not be privately funded, but will be community beds run by the DCHS. Any money saved by the changes will be re-invested into patient care. We held our August meeting on the 21st, where we were joined by Dr Alex Carberry, who gave us an update on progress at the practice. The new ‘self booking in’ machine was said to be working well, and it saves time for the reception staff. We were told that Dr Oakley will now be away on maternity leave until April 2018, cover for her absence is being put in place. There was a discussion relating to concerns from patients,
about problems relating to our reception staff. We have had reports, of inappropriate tone of language from some members of staff. I was able to inform the meeting, that I had held talks with Chris Wildsmith our Area Manager, in an attempt to solve the matter. I would like to point out to our patients, that if they think they have grounds for making a complaint, then, they should ask for a ‘Complaints Form’ at reception. When completed, put it in an envelope marked ‘confidential’ and address it to Tracey Siggsworth, our Practice Manager. All complaints, and suggestions, will be looked into and a reply will be provided. If you are unable to fill in the form yourself, then you can ask a relative, or carer to help complete the form. They must then write their name and relationship on the form, and then sign it. If, after the complaint has been looked at, the patient is not satisfied, then they can report their concerns to the PPG, who will then try and resolve the issue. This must be the way that any complaints or concerns are dealt with. Our patients must also be prepared to face the possibility of having to attend meetings to explain their problems. Patients can rest assured that the meetings will not be confrontational, and that every effort will be made for patients to feel comfortable and at ease. If they feel that
TOY POODLE FOR STUD
they would like to have someone with them for support, then that won’t be a problem. Patients can contact members of the PPG ( there is a list in the waiting room) by leaving a message at reception. The PPG may soon be able to put information on the TV in the waiting room. This might be via a ‘rolling message’ across the bottom of the screen. I have some very important information for ex miners and their families. It has been reported, that when a post mortem has been carried out in cases of Posthumous Pneumoconiosis, it is taking too long for the report from the District Officer/ Coroner to be made available. This delay could lead to any claims from the DWP or CISWO, for bereavement payments, being ‘OUT OF TIME’. If anyone has been affected in this way, then they are advised to contact the NUM. Our next meeting will be on September the 18th. Grant Stothard, Chair of CSMC PPG

Hazel O’ Connor is heading out on a tour of the UK in November / December 2017 playing the Sheffield Foundry on Sunday 19th November performing with a full electric band performing songs from her first three albums – Breaking Glass, Sons and Lovers and Cover Plus. Award-winning singer, writer and actress Hazel O’Connor became an overnight sensation after her BAFTA nominated portrayal of Kate in the 1980 smash-hit film ‘Breaking Glass’. During this period, Hazel released three of her most successful albums; ‘Breaking Glass’, ‘Sons and Lovers’ and ‘Cover Plus’, which
Call us on 01246 828378
produced a stream of top ten hits, including the iconic ‘Will You’, ‘Eighth Day’ and ‘D Days’. Hazel is back with her full band and will be joined on stage by her brother Neil O’Connor for the first time since their 2 week residency at Ronnie Scott’s back in 1984. Neil played original guitars on the "Sons and Lovers" and "Cover Plus" album and enjoyed his own success as the front man of the punk band The Flys. Hazel is joined on stage with a 5 piece band including Clare Hirst (Belle Stars, Communards, David Bowie) on Sax and Sarah Fisher (Eurythmics) on Keys. O'Connor said, "I'm looking forward to be playing excerpts
from these three albums as I often don't get the opportunity to play my early songs. To be joined by Neil, who was there at the inception of these songs, is a privilege for me. Likewise, getting to play with my sisters in music, sax player Clare Hirst and keyboards and vocalist Sarah Fisher in this full band line-up is gonna be a powerful thing!". “They were absolutely fantastic, bringing the entire audience roaring to its feet.” Daily Telegraph A show not to be missed.

PETS CORNER - Dangers In The Garden For Pets…
As summer ends and the autumn chill is in the air many of us are thinking about clearing out the garden from the summer, tidying and planting ready for spring. We may also be buying some house plants or flowers to cheer up the longer evenings. Do you know which plants to avoid for your canine or feline? Plants and flowers can cause mild or severe poisoning in dogs and cats depending on the type and amount consumed. Symptoms of poisoning include vomiting, diarrhoea, tremors, abdominal pain, hyper salivation, fits and even coma and death. Bulbs - One of the things to be aware of is bulbs, especially daffodil, tulip and hyacinth bulbs. Dogs like to use them as balls whether they’re playing while you plat or sometimes for dogs when they dig them up after they’ve seen you plant them. Best to be careful before you site them, don’t use areas your dog can dig unattended.. Aloe vera – Great for skin and burns
but toxic to your dog and cats if eaten Amaryllis – A lovely garden ornament but also at this time of the year being given as a potted bulb. The plant leaves are toxic but in particular the bulbs themselves contain a highly concentrated toxin. Azalea/Rhododendron – Eating even a few leaves of one of these can cause severe problems for any animal included your beloved dog or cat. Carnations – Not the most poisonous but so many of us have them in the house, worth mentioning it can cause dermatitis and upsets tummies Chrysanthemum – Again not one that will cause death but if your dog or cats eats it can cause issues so best avoided. Foxgloves – The other name for foxglove is digitalis which if anyone has a relative with a heart condition is a heart medication. The plant can cause heart issues from missed beats to full blown heart failure so one to be avoided Lilies – One of the most toxic flowers to your pet which can cause severe kidney failure.
Mistletoe – Heading into festive season we may kiss under it and dress the house with it but never let the dog or cat eat it Poinsettia – Not as bad as many think but can cause mild skin, mouth and stomach irritation Rhubarb leaves – Rhubarb is great for crumble but the leaves are a big no no for your pet. Tomato plants – Not seasonal but worth mentioning as while not lethal can cause serious upset stomachs and disorientation in pets. So be careful what you let your furry friend chomp on in the garden or in the house and stay safe and well as we enter the last period of the year…..blimey where did that go? Remember if you are taking a late holiday, visiting relatives or planning Christmas Calagran Four Paws Hotel is a great place for boarding your dog or cat, or day care, so they get a holiday too. I look forward to seeing you there xx

Solicitors Team Up With Macmillan… … to support Macmillan in Chesterfield For the third successive year, BRM Solicitors has joined forces with Macmillan Cancer Support to exclusively offer a free will writing service during September and October to support Macmillan in Chesterfield. Including Gift Aid donations, The Chesterfield law firm has so far raised over £30,000 for the Macmillan appeal to help build the NGS Macmillan Unit Appeal, at Chesterfield Royal Hospital. With the centre now open, the firm is continuing its support by getting behind Macmillan’s ongoing work in the region to provide better cancer care. Over the two months, BRM Solicitors will waive its fees, and instead will encourage clients to make a voluntary donation of £75 per single will and £150 per double will to the
Chesterfield Royal Macmillan Cancer Centre. Over the next few years, Macmillan will be investing a significant amount of money to fund new projects and health professionals at Chesterfield Royal Hospital and elsewhere in Derbyshire. For example, we’ll be funding the Welfare Rights Service at the new NGS Macmillan Unit. Rob Woodhead, Head of Wills and Probate at BRM Solicitors says: “We are very proud that BRM and its clients were able to make a significant contribution in funding the construction of the new centre. Now that the doors are open, we hope that our partnership with Macmillan can help to improve the services and support available to local people affected by cancer.
Due to the overwhelming success of the partnership, the firm has committed to run the free wills service alongside Macmillan Cancer Support in September and October, for the next two years. Rob Turner, the local fundraising manager at Macmillan says: ““Every person who takes part in this scheme your donations will automatically be restricted to fund Macmillan Services based at Chesterfield Royal Hospital, or on Macmillan grants to people living with cancer in the Chesterfield area.“ To take advantage of BRM Solicitors will-writing offer, call 01246 555 111 or email macmillan@brmlaw.co.uk – quoting Macmillan Will Writing Promotion.
