Therapeutic Arts
Here at Therapeutic Arts we combine the beauty of artwork together with the relaxation of complementary therapies. We are a mother and Original paintings..... daughter team, Lynda being the artist and Emma Lynda specialises in landscapes, seascapes, wildlife, pet portraits and being the complementary therapist. We decided to fantasy art, although she will turn her hand to most things upon combine our skills and abilities so we could offer request. The main mediums she uses are pastel, acrylic and water people the relaxation benefits of both these colour. As well as offering a wide variety of paintings she also offers wonderful art forms, and hopefully help raise a commission service, whether this be to paint your favorite scene awareness of their benefits within the local in Derbyshire, a piece of fantasy art to light up a room or a portrait community. of your beloved pet.
Reflexology..... Is a complementary therapy based on the theory that there are reflex areas in the feet which correspond to all the organs, glands and parts of the body. Stimulating these reflex areas with the fingers and thumbs can help bring the body back into balance. This results in increased relaxation, reduction of stress, improved mood, tension being released and enhanced sleep. When we feel good in ourselves our bodies are more able to naturally repair themselves, enabling us to better cope with the daily stresses and strains of life. Reiki.... is a Japanese form of healing which is undertaken through the laying on of hands. It is thought that every living being has an invisible "life force energy" often know as Chi. During times of stress and continued negative thinking this life force energy can become depleted. This can sometimes mean we become more likely to develop illnesses or are generally not as able to cope with life, meaning all the little things start to get to us. Reiki helps us to keep this life force energy " topped up" by working on the body holistically on the mental, emotional and physical levels.
We offer.... bespoke hand painted and designed vases, each vase is totally unique with the colours and design being based on the inspiration that came to Lynda at the time. Lynda also offers a commission based service where she can tailor the design of the vase to suit your individual preferences. This can either incorporate a colour theme chosen by you, and a freehand design by Lynda, or alternatively feature a specific design or pattern chosen by yourself.

Becky’s Movie Previews Back to school time is upon us after a pretty decent summer for once. For a little escape from weather that is no doubt turned by now, here is what will be at the cinema this month.
Coming Soon… The Miseducation of Cameron Post Its hard to imagine a time when things like aversion therapy was something suggested for people who were gay. It’s heart breaking to think how many people may have been put through so-called ‘treatments’ for who they choose to love. It’s 1993, and Cameron Post
A Simple Favour
(Chloe Moretz; Kick-Ass, Carrie) is caught in the back seat of a car with her friend Coley. Cameron's religious Aunt Ruth decides to send her to God’s Promise, a remote gay conversion therapy centre. Whilst there Cameron meets Erin who believes in the programme and wants to get ‘better’ and she also meets Jane and Adam who grow their own marijuana in the woods. Cameron struggles with whether she is in the right place or not but deep inside knows that what she feels isn’t wrong. Even though we feel that we still have a long way to go with accepting all kinds of people and who they choose to love and be, this film shows how far we’ve
actually come. It’s naïve to think that this sort of practice doesn’t exist anymore, but we can hope they are few and far between. Release date: 7th September 2018

Peppermint Now comes a female version of The Punisher, Peppermint shows the strength and determination of a woman that loses everything and sees nothing happen to bring justice to those that took it from her. Jennifer Garner (13 Going on 30, Elektra) plays Riley North, a woman who wakes from a coma after surviving a brutal attack that killed her husband and daughter. Riley tries to help bring those responsible to justice but discovers corrupt officials have been paid off and they walk free. Channelling her frustration and anger into motivation, she spends years in hiding honing her mind, body and spirit to, become an unstoppable force.
She returns, determined to get the justice she never got but this time, she’ll bring it herself. It’s great to see a film like this, with a strong female lead but there is a part of me that wishes that it was an original concept and not just a copy of other male dominated films like The Punisher and Law Abiding Citizen. Despite this Garner is great in her first action role since Elektra and certainly holds her own. A definite watch. Release date: 21st September 2018
The House with a Clock in its Walls
In 1953, ten-year-old Lewis Barnavelt goes to New Zebedee, Michigan to live with his uncle Jonathan (Jack Black; School of Rock, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle) in a creaky old house which

has a mysterious ticking heart. Recently orphaned, Lewis only wants to have a normal childhood but soon discovers he's in line for anything but that. Uncle Jonathan is in fact a mediocre but well-intentioned warlock, while his next-door neighbour and good friend Florence Zimmerman (Cate Blanchett; Lord of the Rings, Ocean’s 8) is a far more powerful good witch. The house that Lewis has just moved into was previously owned by Isaac and Selena Izard. Before dying, this sinister couple had constructed a powerful clock that is hidden somewhere within the walls of the house where it ticks eternally, trying to pull the world into a magical alignment that would have permitted Isaac to bring about the end of the world. But the sleepy facade of Lewis' new town jolts to life with a secret world of warlocks and witches when Lewis, wanting only to make a new friend and impress the popular Tarby Corrigan, attempts to raise the dead in the local cemetery on

Halloween and succeeds in accidentally releasing Selena from her tomb. Things quickly go awry as the sorceress' ghost and a horde of fantastical creatures are soon unleashed to wreak destruction on the town. Now, with the help of Jonathan and Mrs. Zimmerman, Lewis must summon all his courage to prevent the evil sorceress Selena from finishing her husband's work, and attempt to contain the growing supernatural forces of evil that threaten to bring about Doomsday for the whole world The kids may have gone back to school, but this fantasy film is ideal for kids and adults alike. Derbyshire Students Perform Well In GCSEs …
Derbyshire students perform well in GCSEs. Students in Derbyshire have done themselves and the county proud by doing well in their GCSEs. Just over 7,000 students across the county’s 45 secondary schools received their results yesterday. The traditional A* to G grades have been replaced with a nine to one system, with nine being the highest mark. A seven is equivalent to an A under the old system and a four is equivalent to a c. Provisional results show that 75% of Year 11 students in Derbyshire achieved grades 4 to 9 in English and 59% achieved grades 5 to 9. In maths, 70% of Year 11 students achieved grades 4 to 9 and 50% achieved grades 5 to 9. Councillor Alex Dale, Cabinet Member for Young People said: “We’re delighted that early indications show our GCSE students have done really well in their exams and I want to congratulate them all for their hard work and dedication.”
“I’d also like to say a big thank you to heads, teachers, staff, governors, parents and our school improvement service for supporting our young people through this important time in their lives.” “We wish all students the very best of luck as they make the next step in their career.” Further education or training options open to Year 11 students are: full-time education such as sixth form, college or work-based learning an apprenticeship part-time education or training if they are employed, self-employed or volunteering for more than 20 hours a week. Councillor Dale added: “Whatever results students may have received it’s important they know what options are open to them as they stay on in education or training. “Even if students don’t do as well as expected in their GCSEs, schools can put them in touch with advisers who can go through all the options open to them. These include a wide range of vocational
qualifications and apprenticeships which will be showcased at our Derbyshire Skills Festival.” The Derbyshire County Council Skills Festival is Derbyshire’s largest careers event for young people and is aimed at students aged 13 to 19, including those in Year 11 who are considering their options after school. This year’s Chesterfield event will be held at: Proact Stadium, Sheffield Road, Chesterfield, S41 8NZ on Wednesday 26 September 2018. Lots of training providers, larger employers and community adult education services will be on hand to talk to young people. They will also be invited to take part in a range of have-a-go activities.

1st For Local Matters
By Adam Morris
"Adam Morris is a writer, producer and events team member with PeakFM. Having grown up in Chesterfield all his life, he is proud community member and loves the town's local culture. Adam currently lives in Clowne, and dreams of becoming a full time columnist and published Author." Going Solo - Staying Local I've watched a lot of change come to Chesterfield. Whether it was the closure of sleepy haven, Peak Bookshop, the grand opening of Vicar Lane, or the big Tesco popping up in the Spireite skyline, the town has transformed over the 27 years I've been around. Like many of you, I'm a 'Chesterfieldian' through and through. For a lot of my life, I thought I needed to escape the town, but it was after leaving that I realised how much I started to notice its hidden quirks. For example, since when did Chesterfield start having ghost walks for example? What about the fact that the Crooked Spire give tours at the top of the tower? Or how was it that I didn't know there was a beautiful tea room right next to the town's bus station until I was
Corns Callus Ingrowing Nails
Verrucae Heel Pain Prescription Orthotics
22? The answer is pretty simple: I wasn't a good local. Despite this buzzing community atmosphere, I had eyes only for the big brands MSSCh MBChA HPC Reg and avoided everything else. It's not as if I was supposed to boycott McDonalds, Over 10 years Waterstones or Cafe Nero at all costs, but I didn't experience experiment, or try anything new either, ignoring the cosy Reliable and coffeehouses and charity Friendly Service shops that are the treasures of Chesterfield. I was 100% guilty of living in a market town I knew absolutely nothing about. Available to; Staying local has Staveley, Inkersall, Middlecroft, become a big idea over the Old/New Whittington, Hollingwood, Brimington, last few years. How does the Calow, Barrow Hill, Mastin Moor, Duckmanton, Arkwright old saying go? "Use it or lose it." These days it couldn't be more true. All businesses are hard pressed for custom, and even more to the point, they provide more of a community feel and it keeps the town as unique as it always has been. In some cases, it's also cheaper. The benefits are endless. North Derbyshire is no exception either! The local Chesterfield area is full of hidden jewels, boutiques, tea FENCING, DECKING, PATIOS, PATHS, DRIVES rooms, and not forgetting the good, old indoor market! CONCRETING, MOWING, STRIMMING There's a beautiful, local TURFING, PRUNING, HEDGE CUTTING culture here. Maybe it's time more people gave it a try TREE WORK, BLOCK PAVING, JET WASHING while it's still here. Russell Grant’s Horoscopes - September in a close relationship. Stay strong and breathe deep. Loyal friends will help you through this difficult passage. GEMINI May 22nd June 21st
ARIES March 21st April 20th Beware of taking up an extreme health regime on the 9th. That's when a confusing New Moon will cloud your judgement. If you want to revise your diet or increase physical activity, talk to a doctor. They'll tell you the best way to achieve the results you want. It will take longer than you expect to reach your goal. That's fine. It's better to move towards your dream in slow, steady increments. Alleged miracle cures will put too much pain and strain on your system. The Full Moon on the 25th will tempt you to enjoy some down time, but work won't permit this. You'll have to cancel plans to accommodate a demanding boss. If you've had enough of a thankless job, make a plan to land a better role. Don't quit your current position until you're offered another one. Protect your professional reputation; if you don't, nobody else will. TAURUS April 21st May 21st The New Moon on the 9th will make you impulsive. Beware of rushing a romantic relationship. Diving head first into a commitment will be cause for serious regret. You're dealing with someone who has a hidden side that is quite upsetting. Keep things at the casual stage. Try to see how their words match their actions. This will tell you everything you need to know about their character. If you're trying to find help for a child, it will take several attempts before finding the right situation for their particular needs. Be patient and don't put too much stock in fancy diplomas. On the 25th, the Full Moon will bring an embarrassing secret to light. You may discover someone has been cheating you out of a joint fund. On the other hand, you will experience betrayal
20
Finding a place to live will be challenging during the first half of September. You may feel pressured to sign a lease or make a deposit on the 9th, due to a deceptive New Moon. Do not move forward on this deal until you have the property inspected by someone that you hire. They'll point out any troublesome or expensive pitfalls. If you're dealing with a troublesome family situation at this time, notify your employer. When they understand what you're dealing with, they'll stop having unrealistic expectations of you. The Full Moon on the 25th will send shock waves through your social circle. A bad breakup will cause someone to leave your midst. Don't buy into one person's version of events. This is a complicated matter with deception on both sides. You never know what happens with a couple once they go home and shut the door. CANCER June 22nd July 23rd The New Moon on the 9th will cause some wires to get crossed. If you're giving a set of confusing instructions, ask for clarification. Double check an address before entering it into your GPS. Before setting for an appointment, make sure it is the right date. If a meeting is missed, try not to get upset. The more flexible and laid back you are, the easier it will be to handle the confusing energy of early September. On the 25th, the Full Moon will create stress on the professional front. Someone you look up to and respect will ask for more than can be delivered. The limits of time and space will mean nothing to this deluded leader. Instead of trying to appeal to their logic, make a strategic retreat. Reflect on your options. It might be better to find employment elsewhere. There are few things more stressful than working for an irrational person. LEO July 24th August 23rd A moneymaking offer on the 9th will not be all it is cracked up to
be. That's when a deceptive New Moon will tempt you into taking a seemingly cushy job. Once you accept this position, you'll be dismayed to learn you have been duped. It's better to stick with a position you know during the first half of September. The last thing you want is to go to all the trouble of changing jobs, only to discover you've landed in a far worse situation. The Full Moon on the 25th will make it hard for you to spread your wings and fly. You may fail a test or fall short of graduation requirements. If you've applied to university, you might be turned away. Remain philosophical. When one door closes, another always opens. Be willing to explore an avenue that becomes suddenly available to you. Joining a community group will be good for you on many levels at the end of September. VIRGO August 24th September 23rd Your self-confidence will be undermined by a confusing New Moon on the 9th. No matter how clearly you try to communicate your points, the audience will fail to understand them. Don't get upset. Take deep breaths and try another approach. You have a tendency to get bogged down in insignificant detail. Instead of overwhelming people with too much information, just give them a basic overview of the material. You might have to explain concepts you thought were universally understood. When in doubt, move slowly forward towards your goal. On the 25th, the Full Moon will create a rift in a close relationship. An argument over money and shared resources will cause you to reconsider this relationship. Financial security has always been critical to your wellbeing. You can't be with someone who squanders money on expensive luxuries. Having good physical chemistry is nice, but it won't sustain a lifetime union. LIBRA September 24th October 23rd A rival will take credit for your hard work in early September. Don't let the deceptive New Moon on the 9th cause you to let down your guard. If you submit work, do it to several people via email. That way, people will know when it was submitted and who generated it.
If you're offered a job, don't leave your current one until you get a signed document from your employer. Circumstances will change quickly during the first half of the month. What seems like a sealed deal could vanish into thin air. The Full Moon on the 25th will cause you to question a close partnership. A meddling relative will fill your head with doubt and fear. If you have any questions about a partner's loyalty, talk to them. Establish a healthier boundary between your family and romantic lives. If your amour is being attacked by your kin, stand in your partner's defence. SCORPIO October 24th November 22nd On the 9th, you'll meet some interesting people at a party or professional conference. It's best to maintain an air of formality with these people in the early stages. One or two of the individuals you meet will have shady characters. The last thing you want is to let down your guard with someone who will milk you of time, energy and resources. Just because someone is well informed and has a good education does not mean they are trustworthy. The Full Moon on the 25th brings the end to a demanding work assignment. It will be such a relief to get this project off your desk. Negative feedback from officials should be expected. You weren't given enough time or resources to do justice to this work. Instead of getting defensive, let these remarks roll off your back. Bigger and better opportunities are ahead; keep your eyes open for them. SAGITTARIUS November 23rd - December 21st The New Moon on the 9th marks a professional opportunity. Look before you leap. The terms of this deal are extremely murky. You might be told you can work from home, only to discover you'll be expected to spend all your time in the corporate office. If you are thinking of running for office, consider what a toll this position will take on your family life. You may be expected to be on call at all times for this position. That won't work if you're raising children, caring for an elderly relative or supporting a busy romantic partner. On the 25th, the
Please tell your Local Business where you saw their Advert
2018 Full Moon will bring some disappointing news. An emotional or financial gamble will backfire, leaving you in a difficult position. It may be necessary to cancel a trip or cut back on extras for children, like music lessons or summer camp. Let this be a lesson before sinking money into the next sure thing. CAPRICORN December 22nd - January 20th The terms of a legal deal will be extremely unfair. It may be necessary to hire a lawyer to protect your interests. Even then, the New Moon on the 9th will make it difficult to get justice. It may be best to settle and walk away from an exhausting fight. Sometimes protecting your resources is more important than prevailing in court. If you're thrust into an unfamiliar environment and feel like you're out of your depth, ask for additional training. It's better to admit your ignorance than pretend to know what you're doing. The Full Moon on the 25th creates drama on the home front. Trying to push a relative into an arrangement they don't like will cause great resentment. It's better to sit down together and strike a compromise. By listening carefully to your family member's concerns, you'll become much more compassionate. The key to any successful relationship is showing respect for each other's feelings.
Call us on 01246 828378 Relocating to an area that has robust job growth can greatly improve your prospects for finding a lucrative position that's highly enjoyable. PISCES February 20th March 20th A close relationship will show signs of strain on or around the 9th. That's when a deceptive New Moon will cause you to jump to conclusions about your best friend, romantic partner or business associate. Instead of trying to read your friend's mind, ask them outright what they want from your relationship. The answer may surprise you. This is not a good time to get engaged, exchange wedding vows or sign a binding contract. The Full Moon on the 25th brings a financial disappointment. Payment for work will be much less than you expected. A contractor could deduct pay for supplies or hidden expenses. The injustice of this situation will penetrate deeply. Launching a legal suit will be futile, since the law is on their side. Chalk this up to a learning experience and move on. Dwelling on your disappointment will only cause you to miss other moneymaking opportunities.
AQUARIUS January 21st February 19th An intimate relationship gets off to a rocky start in early September. The New Moon on the 9th causes people to be distrustful, elusive and deceptive. If you catch someone near and dear to you in a lie, it's a red flag. You're not a judgmental person. Learning something disturbing about someone's past doesn't bother you when it comes from the horse's mouth. If you hear it through other channels, it's cause for concern. You do not want to get involved with a habitual liar. On the 25th, the Full Moon brings upsetting information to light. Decisions will be taken affecting your world of work. It could mean that there will be no chance of promotion and more chance of needing to move on. This may be a blessing in disguise. The Universe is pushing you to find a better work situation.

Pizza Pi - New Pizzeria Opens In Chesterfield… Local pop up company Pizza Pi will give a permanent home to its wood fired pizzas when it opens Pizza Pi Pizzeria on Beetwell Street, Chesterfield on Monday 20th August. The business began in March 2017 as a side venture between two friends, and since then has attended many local events such as the Chesterfield Food & Drink Festival, the Chesterfield Artisan Market and Chesterfield’s Vintage Summer Fair. The pizzeria has been decorated with a rustic theme throughout and its menu will mainly be wood fired pizzas, with other types of wood fired foods soon
to be available. Gluten free pizza bases will also be on offer and pizzas are available ‘to go’. The menu will include desserts such as ice cream and brownies and from the 6th September the business will also be licensed to sell alcohol, offering a selection of wines, beers, gins and whiskeys alongside soft drinks and fresh coffee. Pizza Pi Pizzeria will create up to 10 jobs long term and there are plans to host acoustic acts and charity nights in the future. The team will continue the pop up side of the business and will be available for private bookings such as weddings and birthdays. Owner Ricky Marples said: “Pizza Pi was originally just an idea between two mates to earn a little extra spending money around our full-time jobs. We’re so pleased our pizzas have been well received,
allowing us to open our new premises in Chesterfield. We look forward to inviting people in to try a wood fired pizza the way it is supposed to be.” Pizza Pi Pizzeria will open on Monday 20th August at 11 Beetwell Street and will be open until 10pm every day.

Hi readers, I’m Roxanne Rhodes and I’m a psychotherapist, clinical hypnotherapist and coach with a private practice in Clowne.
This morning, one of my gorgeous clients burst through my office door and immediately said “I’ve got to show you this! I ordered it because it’s what you always say to me.” I laughed and waited as she pulled out her phone and showed me a picture with a slogan on it which read “You Can Totally Do This”. It’s a gorgeous picture – and I’ve ordered it for myself too, but it really made me think. How much faith do we have in ourselves? Sometimes I can be saying something to a client and alarm bells start clanging in my head, yelling at me about the fact I’m not practicing what I preach! I allow myself a chuckle and resolve to do better, but SO often I can be talking with a client and they’ll say how good they are at giving advice, but so bad at taking their own. Having someone who has totally and utter belief in you; your own personal cheerleader, is one of the reasons that I believe my clients do as well as they do. My faith is unwavering. If I choose to work with a client (and they of course have to choose to work with me too) it’s because I absolutely KNOW that they are capable of doing whatever it is that they want to do. But for some illogical reason, we don’t have that belief in ourselves a lot of the time. It’s total nonsense. When applied to my own life it’s interesting to note where we have doubts, and where we really don’t – and where they come from! This particular client is like looking in a mirror. She is one of the most determined women I’ve ever met, who felt totally helpless at the hands of a couple of anxieties. They had a huge hold over her and made her believe that she couldn’t do certain things. She totally could – and

absolutely has. I laugh every session as she plays down her frankly HUGE achievements and starts looking for the next thing that she can tackle! But the belief that she can, is what changed her attitude, and therefore her achievements. The pathways that we burn in our brains, from telling ourselves a story, or from being told a story, are what mould us into who we are. I am super careful with my language with my children. Telling kids, they’re naughty, versus explaining that that particular behaviour is naughty can make such a massive difference. We can wear labels forever, and we conform to them – often without consciously realising. The kids who are told they’re naughty, can become naughty as they believe that’s who they are. It drives me bonkers, and I intentionally spend time making sure I smash labels, where I can. I’m not just Charley and Finn’s mum, or Tom’s wife, or a therapist. I’m Roxy. I’m not good at business and bad at art. I enjoy business and don’t try hard at art. I can cook, and I hardly ever do, as Tom enjoys cooking and I don’t. I’m not rubbish at keeping in touch with people, I just get distracted and busy. The labels that people place on us, and we accept to be true can restrict us in ways we haven’t yet realised. You can totally do this – whatever this is for you – if you actually want to and are prepared to challenge yourself. & I can totally help you!! See you next month.

PETS CORNER - Older Dogs…. looking to tailor that food to either vet recommended diets or just senior or light diets maybe required. Arthritis – Some dogs more than others experience arthritis but most in the latter years suffer some degree. Your vet can advise you better but it may help to start supplementing their diet with DHA & EPA supplements (Glucosamine & Chondroitin). It may also help to relook at their bed and make sure it providing enough support, warmth and is accessible for them. If things have progressed significantly and they are struggling to get in and out of the car or onto the sofa you can get special ramps or steps for them that easily fold away that may help them feel more independent and save your back lifting them. Dental – The condition of teeth and gums can also pose a challenge in old age. Infections in the mouth can impact many other areas of the body including the heart. Even if you haven’t earlier in their life, you can try brushing their teeth.
So there are no hard and fast rules on when your dog is old. However, below are some of the things you should keep an eye on as your dog’s years’ advance. Exercise – As dogs age they may struggle to do those long walks and become couch potatoes. Exercise should be tailored to your dog’s capabilities but keeping them moving will stave off some of the issues of obesity and arthritis. Weight control – As dogs slow down and get less exercise weight gain can become an increasing issue ironically just at the time their body could do without it. Carrying too much weight in later years can increase mobility issues and worsen symptoms of arthritis. It will also put more strain on their hearts and other organs and almost invariably shorten their life expectancy. Diet – As at all times of life a good quality diet but as your dog looks older
There are many quite tasty special dog toothpastes which can actually make the experience enjoyable. Doggie kisses might be more pleasant too! If things are too bad and your dog is young enough and healthy enough to still undergo sedation your vet can help with a scale and polish and remove any teeth that could be causing your dog grumbling pain. Vet visits – Like humans it is important as dogs get older they get regular health checks. Going to the vet at least annually for vaccination and to review the above signs of aging is a must. Ensure worming is up to date and ears are kept clean and nails are kept short. The grey hairs increase but so does our love for them, so be age health aware in canine care.
