Becky’s Movie Previews The bad weather has reared its ugly head with autumn now in full flow. The upside to this is that you can sit in a cinema and not think about the glorious weather that you’re missing. Here is what you could be seeing this month.

Coming Soon… A Star Is Born

struggling artist Ally (Lady Gaga). She has given up on her dream to become a successful singer, until she meets Jack, who immediately sees her natural talent and encourages her to reach for the spotlight and sing for an Audience. All of the songs featured in the film are original and, as is a trend with films featuring performed songs, were recorded live during filming. This does give more of an authenticity to the songs that the actors are performing so it can only lend itself to the feel of the film.

A lot of people may have heard about this film before as this is the forth incarnation and two of the previous ones starred Barbara Streisand in one and Judy Garland in another. However there is a slight change in the story as the earlier versions were concentrated on the main character trying to make it in the movies, which also included some singing, and this version fully concentrates on the music industry. Bradley Cooper (American Hustle, The Hangover) stars (and makes his directorial debut) as Release date: 3rd October seasoned musician Jackson Maine, 2018 who discovers and falls in love with

will surely get plenty of laughs and is ideal to take the kids to as well

In a twist on legends, Migo (Channing Tatum; Magic Mike, Release date: 12th October 2018 G.I.Joe) is a Yeti who is convinced that the elusive creature known as the "Smallfoot" (humans) really does exist and then encounters a former TV personality named Percy Patterson (James Corden; Gavin and Stacey). Halloween It is a bit disappointing that this comeback of epic proportions isn’t being released on the 31st of the month but I guess we’ll have to settle for the month instead. It is the eleventh instalment in the ‘Halloween’ franchise, and is a direct sequel to the 1978 film of the same name. Set forty years after the original film, Laurie Strode comes face-to-face with Michael Myers for one final showdown on Halloween night. Jamie Lee Curtis and Nick Castle reprise their roles as Strode and Myers, respectively. Original co-creator John Carpenter isn’t directing but is involved; he serves as a composer, executive producer and creative consultant for the new film which is good news for any fan of the original instalment. It's been 40 years since Laurie Strode survived a vicious attack from

crazed killer Michael Myers on Halloween night. Locked up in an institution, Myers manages to escape when his bus transfer goes horribly wrong. Laurie, now a mother and grandmother, faces a terrifying showdown when the masked madman returns to Haddonfield, Illinois; but this time, she's ready for him. It may feel like the hundredth film that surrounds the same storyline but with the involvement of original stars and the original creator bodes well for this horror legend. Release date: 19th October 2018

Bohemian Rhapsody is a foot-stomping celebration of Queen, their music and their extraordinary lead singer Freddie Mercury (Rami Malek; Mr Robot). Freddie defied stereotypes and shattered convention to become one of the most beloved entertainers on the planet. The film traces the meteoric rise of the band through their iconic songs and revolutionary sound. They reach unparalleled success, but in an unexpected turn Freddie, surrounded by darker influences, shuns Queen in pursuit of his solo career. Having suffered greatly without the collaboration of Queen, Freddie manages to reunite with his bandmates just in time for Live Aid. While bravely facing a recent AIDS diagnosis, Freddie leads the band in one of the greatest performances in the history of rock

music. Queen cements a legacy that continues to inspire outsiders, dreamers and music lovers to this day Just by watching the trailer you can get a glimpse into how much they have nailed the casting of the unique frontman with Rami and the work that has gone into the film to be sure it is a true reflection of the man, good and bad, and to remind the world and a new generation the genius that was Freddie Mercury. 1st For Local Matters

Visit our web site - www.chesterfield1st.co.uk

By Adam Morris

So we're barely into October and already the first wave of people counting down to Christmas can be heard at work, on the radio and on TV. It happens every year without fail. Rooting through the flashbacks of the year before, I remember a cold November where I thought Christmas would never arrive. So hearing about it constantly only served to rub salt in the wound. With that in mind, am I happy about it this year? Not really. December is two months away and I'm even close to being okay about hearing the Michael Buble Christmas album. Be that as it may, they play a vital role in the build up to Santa Claus coming to town. Like many others, I dread the inevitable shopping trips and all the stress that comes with it. The ranting and raving about Christmas - annoying as it is serves as a good reminder to get a move on with the presents. And the sooner, the better. Over the years, it's become pretty clear that I harbour a bad habit for last minute shopping. Fond memories of charging around HMV, Tescos and Boots with a few days left to panic buy were more frequent than I care to admit, hiding away in shame until I assumed I was off the hook in the new year. Unsurprisingly, this never worked. I had to accept that I'm

about as much use in the shops at Christmas as a chocolate Fireguard. A lot of people tell me "it's the thought that counts"... well it's not that they're wrong, but the idea of getting something that people don't need - or worse, already own - has a lot of us on the verge of a nervous breakdown. I speak on behalf of plenty of people when I say that I over think. You could say "it's the thought that counts" as many times as you like; I'll never get it into my thick skull. Not a chance. Eventually, I started to pay attention through trial and error. Others who created their own little survival guide for getting the perfect gifts in time: going online, getting help off mates, "accidentally" leaving wish lists for the family to find - I'm also guilty of the third one. Then in a bid to nail the offers down, a trip to Meadowhall is usually inevitable. I don't know about any of you, but the thought of a shopping centre, the queues and swell of angry crowds during peak times horrifies me. My point being is that it's different for everyone. I guess what I'm saying is that I've always been better off when I do my homework and plan well in advance. It won't be the same for everyone, but however you do your shopping this year, nobody wants to be the one shopping at the petrol station 30 miles away at 11pm on Christmas Eve. Ho ho ho!

Russell Grant’s Horoscopes - October close relationship, do something nice for yourself. Take a few days off work, get a massage and visit your favourite nature spot. The sight of birds, flowers and trees has a therapeutic effect. GEMINI May 22nd June 21st

ARIES March 21st April 20th The New Moon on the 9th puts strain on a close relationship. Just when you thought you were making a breakthrough with a romantic or business partner, an argument breaks out. You've been spending too much time on your career. Until you change your priorities, it will be impossible to gain your friend's trust. When you really care about someone, you'll find a way to spend quality time together. On the 24th, the Full Moon could bring an influx of income. Use this money to treat yourself to something you've set your heart on and wanted for a long time. When you reward yourself for working hard, your job stops seeming so burdensome. If you have enough money saved, you might decide to undergo a career change. Launching your own business, running for political office or moving into another industry are among the possibilities. Use your financial cushion as a launch pad for bigger and better things. TAURUS April 21st May 21st Despite your best efforts, it will be difficult to get organised on the 9th. That's when a tense New Moon keeps calling you away from your duties. A demanding manager or expert will keep asking you to make small changes on a project. If you're working on a commission basis, you'll have to put an end to these incessant calls. It's better to lose their business than be at the beck and call of their whims. If you have a health setback during the first half of the month, scale back your schedule. You're trying to do too much in too narrow a window of time. The Full Moon on the 24th invites you to enjoy some self-pampering. Instead of pouring all your energy into a

On the 9th, the New Moon puts you in the path of romance. Although the lure of a creative person is powerful, you should hesitate before getting involved in a serious relationship. While it's true you have many interests in common, there is a big difference between you. You're not especially materialistic, while the object of your affection is obsessed with money. This rift will cause real problems. Take the time to get to know each other; you will have second thoughts. If you're already in relationship, your partner will reveal some upsetting financial information during the first half of October. Put your heads together to craft a plan for paying off a sizable debt. On the 24th, the Full Moon will bring a welcome chance to rest and recharge your batteries. If an appointment or trip is cancelled at the last minute, don't complain. Instead, treat it as a chance to relax. CANCER June 22nd July 23rd The New Moon on the 9th warns against confiding in an untrustworthy person. A relative who pretends to have your best interests at heart is really jealous. After sharing sensitive information with them, you could be betrayed. It's better to write in a private diary that is kept in a secured place. The last thing you want is your personal business to be revealed in a public forum. Some people use shaming as a way to control others. Don't let this happen to you. The Full Moon on the 24th brings a group project to its successful conclusion. Much to your surprise, you'll be named most valuable player. The other members of the group appreciate your leadership ability. Instead of barking out orders, you learned how to best motivate each person. As a result, everybody felt valued and appreciated. It's no wonder your work was so impressive; people are motivated to do their best when they're happy.

LEO July 24th August 23rd Acquiring a skill will be more difficult than expected on the 9th. That's when the New Moon puts you in the path of a relentless critic. It will be hard to study with their disdainful voice in your ear. Stay as far away from this cynic as possible. If you're having difficulty mastering complicated concepts, be patient. Hire a tutor who is able to isolate the source of your trouble. With their help, you'll be able to push past this stubborn block and achieve mastery. On the 24th, the Full Moon marks an impressive turning point in your career. You'll be given a promotion or high profile position. This will come as a total surprise. It's been hard to know where you stand with an impassive employer. Finally, you'll discover just how much your boss really appreciates your contributions. Have fun at a party that is thrown in your honour. VIRGO August 24th September 23rd The New Moon attracts a moneymaking opportunity on the 9th. Taking this job will limit your personal life. You'll spend virtually all your time at the office, trying to satisfy a demanding client or supervisor. If you really need the money, it's worth accepting this job. If you have other options, it would be best to pursue them, even if they pay less. You can't put a price on your mental health. The Full Moon on the 24th finds you returning from a trip, finishing an ongoing project or collecting a diploma. There will be a surprise bonus for your hard work. You might get a chance to lead a group or write a column. Being able to share your insight with an enthusiastic audience will be the answer to a prayer. You love being paid for exploring ideas. Someone with your brain power needs a job that engages the intellect. LIBRA September 24th October 23rd You yearn to break out of your shell on the 9th, when the New Moon prompts a personal change. Your family won't be supportive of your desire to pursue a particular career, move to a different neighbourhood or take up another belief system. Instead of asking their approval, go ahead

and follow your heart's desire. It may be necessary to cut yourself off from financial support as a means to become more independent. You will have to scrape and save for a while, but that's better than remaining under a relative's thumb. The Full Moon on the 24th brings a cheque and bonus that is much bigger than you expected. An appreciative client, customer or patient will throw in a bonus for your hard work. Use this windfall to upgrade some technical equipment. Getting a better car, computer or smartphone will make daily life much easier. Take advantage of a last-minute sale. SCORPIO October24th November 22nd The New Moon on the 9th makes you yearn for privacy. Unfortunately, a relative or neighbour keeps trying to pry into your personal business. It would be wise to invest in some security equipment. Lock up your personal belongings when you're at work, increase your password protection and don't leave your smartphone where it can be easily accessed. Some people cannot be trusted. If embarrassing information does come to light, think about filing a police report. The perpetrator is counting on you to be too embarrassed to alert the authorities. Call their bluff. On the 24th, your romantic or business partner will have some surprising news. A big promotion or hefty raise will increase your standard of living. If you're single, you won't be for long. Meeting someone special at a gourmet restaurant, garden show or luxury boutique is a strong possibility. You'll fight hard and fast for the object of your affection. SAGITTARIUS November 23rd - December 21st On the 9th, the New Moon will spark a group project. This venture will not pay very well. To add insult to injury, you'll find your indecisive colleagues highly unpleasant. You're perfectly willing to collaborate, but at some point, someone will have to assume leadership. If you take the helm, you'll have to deal with a great deal of anger and resentment. It may be better to steer clear of this assignment altogether. If you can't, don't waste a lot of time and energy on

CAPRICORN December 22nd - January 20th A professional opportunity will beckon on the 9th, but think carefully before accepting it. A conflicted New Moon will force you to choose between having a wildly successful career and a comfortable home life. If you don't want to spend every spare moment at the office, pass up this offer and wait for a better one. If you're happy with your current position, you might be forced to take a leave of absence. Attending to a personal matter won't wait a minute longer. Getting treatment for an addition, undergoing a surgical procedure or taking time away to reassess your priorities are among the possibilities. The Full Moon on the 24th marks an exciting turning point in your personal life. You might decide to get engaged or married on the spur of the moment. There's also a chance you'll get word of an unexpected pregnancy. Whatever the nature of this surprise, it will be a happy one.

Call us on 01246 828378 home life a cosy, comfortable feeling that is grounding. Instead of wanting to go out every night, you'll prefer spending time with your nearest and dearest. PISCES February 20th March 20th A physical relationship forces you to make a decision on the 9th. That's when the New Moon causes someone very close to you to question your feelings towards them. Spending all your time with friends makes them feel neglected. It's time to change your priorities. If you're single, resist the temptation to steer a platonic relationship into passionate waters. Although your loved one is very attractive, you aren't suited to each other as a couple. Surprising news will reach your ears on the 24th, when the Full Moon brings hidden information to light. It will be such a relief to know that a community matter has been successful resolved. You've always been a pioneer for justice. Now resources are more evenly allocated among your neighbours, you can turn your attention to more fulfilling pursuits. Take an art class, go to a concert or read for pleasure. Avoid getting caught in a rut during the second half of October.

The New Moon on the 9th will bring an enticing opportunity to travel, study or write. Unfortunately, you won't be able to make the most of this chance. An expired passport or tight enrolment window will force you to postpone plans for another time. Instead of dwelling on your disappointment, try making the best of a bad situation. Studying a foreign language will make a future trip much easier. If you want to take an advanced course, this would be a good time to brush up on basics you haven't studied for years. On the 24th, there will be unexpected changes at home. You might have to relocate for work. Alternatively, your household could expand to include a child or older relative. Hi readers, I’m Roxanne Rhodes and I’m a psychotherapist, clinical hypnotherapist and coach with a private practice in Clowne. I’ve just finished delivering a hypnobirthing course with a gorgeous client and after hearing her birth story I was again struck by what an amazing technique this is. It amazes me how few people know about it, or choose to look into what kind of birth it could offer them. My client had JUST got to the stage where she thought she would need pain relief. She asked the midwife about it and she examined her, only to be told that she was in actual fact ready to give birth. How fabulous and empowering is that? So – how does hypnotherapy help? Firstly, as always, breathing techniques played a massive role. The right breathing technique will keep you calm. The whole theory behind hypnobirthing is that the fear of labour and birth causes tension and the tension is what causes any pain. If you’re relaxed there is a significant reduction or elimination of pain as the brain doesn’t detect the stimuli in the same way. So, if you breathe to stay calm and relaxed, the tension isn’t there. Now don’t get me wrong – you still feel pressure (how could you not?!) But that’s exactly how it feels – pressure, rather than pain. The first stage of labour can last for days for some women so being able to keep yourself relaxed in the build-up is

Please tell your Local Business where you saw their Advert

vitally important. Another huge part of hypnobirthing is visualisation and being able to take yourself off in your mind to a different place. This is a part of all hypnotherapy whether we’re using it for anxiety, body issues, stress – everything. Having a place to go and specific suggestions to imagine, physiologically create neural patterns in your brain, just as if you had physically performed the action. The thought can stimulate the nervous system in the same way as the actual event does. Athletes use visualisation all of the time and there’s a ton of research supporting its effectiveness. In hypnobirthing, I teach to imagine contractions as waves and we usually use the sea as part of guided imagery. Hypnobirthing is becoming more and more popular and the evidence supporting its effectiveness is increasing. It can significantly reduce the need for pain relief, shorten labour and increase your confidence and excitement about your baby’s birth. I run private hypnobirthing courses and you can find more information on my website about these or use the contact details below. See you next month.

Ashgate Hopicecare - New Garden Room… Ashgate Hospicecare officially unveil new Garden Room and Dementia Friendly Courtyard thanks to a generous donation from the Westfield Health Charitable Trust Last week, Ashgate Hospicecare officially opened the doors to their brand new dementia friendly courtyard and garden room thanks to the amazing generosity of the Westfield Health Charitable Trust. The new garden room provides a Homely sanctuary to patients and their families who want non-clinical, modern space to spend precious time together. The garden room is also a gateway to a welcoming outdoor space which has been designed to be dementia friendly. There are sensory plants, a tranquil water feature, comfortable seating and a mural that all contribute to creating a peaceful outdoor space. Graham Moore, Chairman of the Westfield Health Charitable Trust, said: “As a longstanding supporter of Ashgate Hospicecare we are delighted to have funded the new courtyard and garden room, which I had the privilege of officially opening. This is an amazing space where patients and their families can spend quality time together, which I’m sure will have a positive impact on the wellbeing of patients.” The transformed area will significantly improve the Hospice experience for all of our patients and

their families, particularly for those with cognitive difficulties, as well as providing families with a place to take loved ones that is easily accessible but close by to the nurses which is important for continuity of care. John Beeston, a patient in Ashgate Hospicecare’s Inpatient Unit, said: "This was my first time seeing the courtyard and I think it looks amazing. It reminds me a lot of being at home because we get a lot of sparrows in our garden, just like those painted on the mural. It's wonderful to have the bird feeders too because hopefully they will attract lots of birds into the courtyard. The garden room is a wonderful addition too! It's lovely because it can be used all year round and you can open up the bi-folding doors and feel like you're outside even if you're inside." Richard Gosling, who is also in Ashgate Hospicecare’s Inpatient Unit, said: "I think that the courtyard is super! It's just what we wanted. I spend a lot of time in the gardens at the Hospice, so having this extra outside space is great." Local businesses also added to this special addition to the Hospice. Without the support of Gary Fletcher Surfacing, John Plant MBE, Tesco’s Bags

of Help, K B Rouse, Peter Barber, Walton Landscapes, TG Beighton, Hospice garden volunteers, Valley Reclamation, the DEEP Group, the Hospice Dementia Champions and CMC Aluminium this project wouldn’t have been possible. Julie Foster, Ashgate Hospicecare Matron said: “We are so grateful to the Westfield Health Charitable Trust and everyone else involved who made this project possible. We have known for a long time that the environment has a huge impact on patient wellbeing, this new space is a home from home, a space for patients to relax, to celebrate with loved ones, to simply enjoy when it matters most. The Hospice was awarded ‘outstanding’ by the Care Quality Commission in 2015 for our care, the garden room and courtyard are now outstanding spaces to match this care and have inspired the Hospice to make improvements to other areas on the Inpatient Unit.”
