Becky’s Movie Previews The clocks have gone back which means there are more dark mornings and early nights ahead. Here is a look at what films will be showing this month to cheer you up.

Coming Soon… responsibilities to have more fun than they’ve had in years. Now, it’s that magical time of the year and their moms have decided to drop in. In the same way as the first film, the ladies decide to rebel against the expectations of the Super Bowl for moms and go wild. There probably isn’t a lot more that could be added to that of the first film but we’ve got the theme of Christmas to throw in which makes everything better. Release date: 1st November 2017

A Bad Mom’s Christmas The first of this years Christmas themed films and it’s a sequel to the 2016 film Bad Moms which saw over worked and stressed out mothers (Mila Kunis, Kristen Bell and Kathryn Hahn) reach breaking point trying to keep up with the high standards of the ‘perfect’ moms. Murder On The Orient Express In 1930's Europe, famed detective Hercule Poirot (Kenneth Branagh) boards the legendary Orient Express for a small break in between cases. While on board, he meets an interesting assortment of characters. One fellow passenger asks Mr. Poirot to be their personal bodyguard, which he respectfully declines. The next morning, the said passenger is found stabbed to death. As the evidence and suspects pile up, Poirot becomes more and more interested into the past of the victim and why he really fled the United States. A famous story that many would’ve heard of but

perhaps not be terribly familiar with given it was first published in 1934. The last big screen adaptation was back in 1974 so it is definitely time for an update and with the star power of the cast, it should be a fun ride. Johnny Depp, Josh Gad, Judi Dench and Michelle Pfeiffer are just some of the stellar cast so it’s worth a watch. Release date: 3rd November 2017

Justice League

Fuelled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman's selfless act on Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck) enlists newfound ally Diana Prince (Gal Gadot) to face an even greater threat. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to recruit a team to stand against this newly awakened enemy. Despite the formation of an unprecedented league of heroes -- Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and the Flash - it may be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions. There doesn’t seem to be a month that goes by without a new superhero film from the DC or

Marvel Universes. This month sees the first of the DC band of heroes which includes Batman, Wonder Woman and Aqua Man to name a few. Affleck and Gadot are returning as Batman and Wonder Woman who’ve had recent outings of their own in recent years. This may divide some devout Superhero fans depending on whether their loyalty lies with DC or Marvel but it’s pretty much the same concept; band of heroes come to together to defeat a powerful Supervillain. All good fun. Release date: 17th November 2017

Ingrid Goes West

Chesterfield 1st

Nov/Dec 2017

TIngrid Thorburn (Aubrey Plaza) is a mentally unstable young woman in Pennsylvania. After discovering on Instagram that an unrequited friend of hers did not invite her to her wedding, Ingrid crashes the reception and maces her in the face. Ingrid undergoes a brief stay at a mental hospital and, writing letters to Charlotte, explains that she has been having difficulties dealing with the death of her mother, who was the only person who was ever kind to her. After her release, Ingrid encounters a guest of the wedding. She says that Charlotte was never friends with Ingrid but simply commented on one of her posts, leading Ingrid to pursue a one-sided friendship with her. Later Ingrid learns of a social media influencer named Taylor Sloane (Elizabeth Olsen). Beguiled by her seemingly perfect life, Ingrid comments on one of her photographs and receives a slight response from Sloane. With an inheritance of over $60,000

from her mother, Ingrid decides to move to Los Angeles to become friends with Taylor. After a quick bond is forged between these unlikeliest of buddies, the facade begins to crack in both women's lives and things start to unravel. With the current obsession with people on social media, this film will ring true for a lot of people and hopefully show that what is taken, edited, filtered and uploaded onto the internet doesn’t reflect the real lives of those that share them. Russell Grant’s Horoscopes - November 29th, when the New Moon makes you aware of limited resources. By teaming up, you can produce impressive work on a tiny budget. Summon your creative powers as November turns to December. GEMINI May 22nd June 21st

ARIES March 21st April 20th Your love life will sizzle with excitement in the early days of November. If you don't have a partner, you could find one at a theatre, concert or gallery. There's a good chance you will fall head over heels in love with a powerful executive. Are you already in a relationship? Be receptive to your amour's overtures. The two of you will have fun reconnecting. An impressive amount of money could land in your bank account on the 14th, thanks to the Full Moon. Use some of this cash to further your career. A smart interview suit, new computer and advertising campaign are all good professional investments. Beware of making promises you can't deliver during the second half of the month. Setting up a loved one for disappointment will create tremendous resentment. The New Moon on the 29th will force you into unfamiliar territory. Ask for guidance when you're not sure what to do or how to behave. TAURUS April 21st May 21st Your love life will be enriching at the beginning of November. This is the best time of the entire year to get engaged or married. Entering a business alliance is also looking good. Two heads are better than one at the beginning of November. The Full Moon on the 14th will prompt a loved one to give you a beautiful gift. Be sure to show your appreciation for this generous token. Work could feel oppressive during the second half of the month, due to an annoying repair project. It may be difficult to find peace and quiet. Exercise patience with a colleague who wears on your nerves. Show respect for their superior knowledge and expertise. You may need their help on the

18

Work will be financially and emotionally rewarding in the opening days of November. If you're unhappy with your job, look for another. An influential friend will write you an impressive reference. The Full Moon on the 14th will prompt you to withdraw from public life. Solitary pursuits like reading, writing and communing with nature can energise you. It's also possible you will be spending more time with a beloved pet. Your romantic partner will give you the strength to take a bold risk. Abandon the status quo for something new and daring. You may experience a setback, but treat it as a learning experience. The next time, you will be better prepared to meet challenges. The New Moon on the 29th warns against mixing business with pleasure. If you're looking for love, find it with someone who doesn't work with you. Similarly, it isn't a good idea to form a professional alliance with a friend. CANCER June 22nd July 23rd An exciting opportunity to travel will arrive at the beginning of November; there's never been a better time to take a dream holiday. If you're single, you will meet someone special on this journey. Are you already in a relationship? You and your amour will enjoy a second honeymoon. If you're looking for work during the first half of the month, you'll have to be particularly aggressive. Don't be afraid to discuss your talent and accomplishments during job interviews. The Full Moon on the 14th brings a successful conclusion to a group project. As a result, bigger and better opportunities will be offered to you. Be selective about which jobs you accept. It's important to hold out for work that offers a creative challenge. Don't let your romantic partner eclipse your needs towards the end of the month. The New Moon on the 29th will prompt you to get attention for a health matter.

LEO July 24th August 23rd Money from a grant, loan or scholarship will become available in early November. These additional resources will allow you to lead a more comfortable life. Having more time for creative pursuits will give you an attractive glow throughout the first half of the month. If you're single, you could meet someone special at a sporting event or gym. You'll have to play the aggressor in this relationship. The Full Moon on the 14th marks an exciting turning point in your career. You could land a high profile job, get a big pay rise or be given an impressive promotion. During the second half of the month, you should be as discreet as possible at work. Don't discuss your personal life with colleagues or you will later regret it. The New Moon on the 29th warns against taking emotional and financial risks. It's best to maintain the status quo as November turns to December. VIRGO August 24th September 23rd Your love life will sizzle with excitement in early November. This is a great time to embark on a romance. Getting engaged or married is also possible. If you're already in a serious relationship, take your amour on a glamorous trip. A financial windfall makes it possible to purchase some new technical equipment during the first half of the month. The Full Moon on the 14th brings the satisfying conclusion of a legal matter. As a result, you'll have more time for your favourite hobbies and creative pursuits. The second half of November could put some strain on finances. Be as frugal as possible. Fortunately, you don't need to spend a lot of money to have fun with your nearest and dearest. Spend quality time with friends and family, preparing big meals and playing board games. Launching a home based business could be profitable on the 29th, thanks to the New Moon. LIBRA September 24th - October 23rd Moneymaking opportunities will abound in early November. Take this opportunity to apply for a dream job or ask for a pay rise. If

you work for yourself, this is the best time of the entire year to raise your prices. Good customers are willing to pay extra for superior products and services. The Full Moon on the 14th will pave the way for a passionate encounter. Let down your defences with someone who has proven their loyalty. There's also a good chance you will get a significant financial windfall from an inheritance or legal settlement. The second half of the month should be devoted to building solid relationships with your neighbours. Having a good standing in the community will pay off in unexpected ways. Changes to your domestic routine are inevitable at the end of November. Be open to make adjustments for the sake of a relative. The New Moon on the 29th could put extra chores on your plate. SCORPIO October 24th - November 22nd You're feeling good and looking good in early November. Take this opportunity to embark on a passionate romance. If you're already in a relationship, you and your amour will be especially affectionate throughout the first half of November. This would be a lovely time to give your partner a beautiful token of your affection. The Full Moon on the 14th marks a turning point in a close relationship. A business or romantic partnership will dramatically improve your social stature. You will have to spend money to make money during the second half of the month. Invest in a new car, computer or smart phone. Don't listen to petty criticism as November turns to December. A jealous rival will do everything in their power to shake your confidence. If the New Moon on the 29th results in a loss of income, remain positive. This will be a welcome opportunity to find more rewarding work. SAGITTARIUS November 23rd - December 21st Solitary pursuits will give you a welcome chance to recharge your batteries in early November. Working on a compelling creative project will be lots of fun. Don't show your work to others until you're completely happy with the results. The Full Moon on the 14th will attract a terrific job offer.

I have found the names of monarchy, retirement age and pensions. some early learners of Esperanto by Is Esperanto inferior to natural searching in yellowing directories. The first person I could trace learning the new language in Chesterfield was Anglican clergyman Rev. J. E. Ormesher (1845-1917) of Wingerworth Rectory, Chesterfield who took it up in 1904. Two years later I have come across Alfred Lee of 44, Cobden Road and Joseph Harrison of Fern Cottage, Staveley. Gordon Brown of 67 West Bars took up Esperanto in 1907. It took off slowly, speakers is hard to gauge. It has been firstly in the Russian Empire, then estimated that there are a few hundred

thousand proficient speakers of Esperanto in the world and up to two million people who are familiar with the language to some extent. In my experience there are enough speakers to make learning the language worthwhile. Where is Esperanto used? People use Esperanto every day in various ways: when travelling, at international conferences, on the Internet, for work, or in family life. Normally Esperanto is used between people who don't have the same mother tongue. When used in this way, Esperanto acts as a "bridge language" between people from different language backgrounds. That's Esperanto's strength – it works well as a bridge across national borders. Some Esperanto speakers use the language to read news about events in various countries, written by the very people who live in those countries. And others enjoy books that were originally written in a minority language, which have been translated into Esperanto but not into the reader's mother tongue. Where can I start learning Esperanto? Duolingo is probably the best free method of learning Esperanto. In fact about 750,000 people have learned this way in the last two years. You certainly won’t regret the time you spend on Esperanto, a very practical way to overcome language barriers. Chesterfield Food and Drink Awards

Blu Bistro named as Chesterfield’s top restaurant Chatsworth Road’s Blu Bistro & Coffee House has been named as Chesterfield’s Restaurant of the Year at the town’s 2017 Food and Drink Awards. Blu has been shortlisted for the prestigious award four years running, however 2017 has seen the family-owned restaurant finally take the top title in the annual competition which is organised by Destination Chesterfield. Blu was one of 12 bars, restaurants, food producers, cafes and individuals to scoop an accolade across 13 categories in this year’s Chesterfield Food and Drink Awards 2017. Judges described Blu as a ‘hidden gem’ which far exceeded their expectations. They added: “From the minute we were greeted to the end of the evening the whole experience was a sheer delight. A truly exciting, gastronomic journey. The cooking techniques were outstanding, as were the combinations of flavours.” One of Chesterfield’s newest bars, Bottle & Thyme, which opened its doors in December last year, celebrated its first year in business with a double award win on the night, scooping the titles of Best Newcomer and Best Customer Service. Delhi 41, based on Sheffield Road on Whittington Moor, also celebrated multiple success on the night when it retained the International Restaurant of the Year title for a record four consecutive years. Since the category was

introduced to the awards line up in 2014, Delhi 41 has won every single year. Matlock-based restaurant Stones, also retained its title of Best Out of Town for the second consecutive year. Celebrity baker and couture cake maker to royalty and the A List, Mich Turner MBE hosted the awards ceremony, which was held on Wednesday 25 October at Chesterfield College’s Heart Space Building. More than 250 people attended what has become the biggest night of the year for Chesterfield’s food and drink community. Held in association with The Chesterfield College Group, the awards are designed to also be a hands-on learning experience for the College’s hospitality students who both prepare the two course menu and serve at the sell-out event each year. Julie Richards, Principal of Chesterfield College said: “Congratulations to everyone who was nominated as a finalist for the Food and Drink Awards this year and well done to all the winners. It is an honour for the college to play such a big part in this celebration of the local food and drink industry. It is a highlight in our calendar, providing a fantastic opportunity to showcase the college’s catering and hospitality department and to develop the skills of the students who take part in the preparation of the food and the hospitality for the evening.” Organiser of the awards Dominic Stevens, Destination Chesterfield Manager, said: “Once again the Food and Drink Awards were a runaway success with more new names appearing in the winners roll alongside established names. This is a reflection of how the town’s food and drink scene is both growing and evolving, catering for everyone’s tastes, and mirroring

the development of Chesterfield as a whole.” The winners of the 2017 Chesterfield Food and Drink Awards are: Restaurant of the Year – sponsored by Chesterfield Borough Council Blu Bistro & Coffee House Adam Warwick, Head Chef at Blu Bistro & Coffee House: “We’ve been nominated four years running so to finally win is incredible. PETS CORNER - Cool Ideas for Christmas for Dogs…

As the festive season approaches the dog lovers amongst us never forget our canine friends love a Christmas gift as well. With this in mind I thought I would write this month about some categories and ideas of what your furry friends might like this Christmas. New Extra Special Toy Ideas As for human children, the traditional favourite toys, are up dated with design and technology making some really fun dog toys. Interactive clever dog games – These are great to be able to play with your dogs and for you dog to learn new things. They range from hiding a treat in one box to having to nudge objects to get treats after a sequence of learned actions. You’d be amazed what dogs can do and learn. In a similar vein you can also buy things like wobble kongs and interactive toys your dogs can play at home when they’re alone which helps them relax and enjoy

their time alone as well as with you. Tennis ball launchers – These range from a completely automated mechanical launcher a bit like the ones you see Andy Murray practicing with on court which you can use in the house or garden right through to a foot operated Nerf tennis ball launcher and hand-held ball catapults. For any dogs obsessed with balls these devises would be a doggy gift from heaven. Even if your dog doesn’t like chasing balls I even recently saw a treat launcher which can help wear off those calories on their way to the treat. CCTV with a difference – There are lots of really simple CCTV solutions for inside you house to keep an eye on what Fido does when you are out. However, some have now gone a step further and allow you to speak to your dog when you out and even dispense treats to them. Keeping you and them amused and in touch 24/7. Cool Attire – Personally I am not a fan of dressing dogs up but without going quite that far there are still

some nice special items that make lovely presents. How about a personalised collar with your dog’s name or your phone number embroidered on or a designer dog coat? Everything from wax jackets to woolly pullies can be on the shopping list. Treats – Every dog loves a treat, but the ranges are now extending to some fabulous home cooked and organic treats made with human grade foods. Always beware of human chocolate as this is poisonous to dogs but you can even do some home cooked treats, there are lots of recipes online. Travel accessories – There are lots of wicked travel accessories for dogs which you can buy them for Christmas looking forward to the spring and road trips together. Great water bottles, car harnesses, snazzy blankets and beds or even car kennels.

Hi readers, I’m Roxanne Rhodes and I’m a Psychotherapist, Clinical hypnotherapist and coach with a private practice in Clowne. This month I want to talk to you about mistakes. We all make them, and yet some people seem to learn and move on, while others dwell, wallow and repeat the same pattern over and over again. I want to share with you some false beliefs about mistakes – and how you can get past them. As you get older/wiser/more successful/richer, that you’ll make less mistakes. People who embrace change and challenge actually put themselves at more risk of making mistakes. Successful and resilient people believe that life is pretty much trial and error. They continue to learn and experiment and therefore happily continue making meaningful mistakes and using the lessons to move forwards. Mistakes equal failure Successful people make an important distinction between these two words. Failure refers to any wrong decision that cannot be corrected. “Heart failure” is a good use of the term. Once the heart stops, your options are understandably limited. Most of our errors in life can be corrected in some way: A divorce can lead to a better relationship later on, a financial reversal can be turned around, etc. A brilliant example of someone refusing to confuse mistakes with failure can be found in a statement made by Thomas Edison as he attempted to invent our lightbulb: “I have not failed. I've just found 10,000 ways that won't work.” Other people obviously have it easier than me When we see success, we often

assume that the person’s path was an easy one. However, that is rarely the case – everyone is fighting battles we know nothing about. There are heaps of famous examples to show this. Apparently, Coca Cola sold 100 bottles in their first year, the Harry Potter manuscript was rejected by twelve publishers, Lisa Kudrow was fired from Frasier way before Friends. But hear any of these people speak and it is their sheer determination and belief that sees them succeed, not the hand they’re dealt. Mistakes must be painful Ok, so failure is painful. It’s permanent and irreparable. But mistakes are simply stepping stones to the right path. Successful people tend to assume that what they are seeking, and the path to achieving it, may be difficult and therefore, mistakes are to be expected. As a result, when they do occur, they don’t view them as a reflection of their personal inadequacy. If we treat going through our lives as a challenging quest then mistakes can be more easily accepted, dealt with and learned from. Let me know your thoughts on mistakes. Have you managed to figure out how to use them to help you succeed? See you next month. Roxy www.mindmatterstherapies.co. uk roxy@mindmatterstherapies.co. uk 07449 510700
