December Newsletter
Lieutenant Governor Greeting Hello everyone and Happy December! This newsletter has exciting information about upcoming events, service spotlights, and much more! Make sure to keep reading! We are almost done with 2021, which is crazy how time flies. To have a fresh start in the New Year, I would HIGHLY recommend filling out any paper that hasn't been completed so you don't get behind. If you need help accessing the forms(which are in my weekly update) please let me know. MRFs are due the 10th of each month and the ERF form is due after your clubs have had elections. To see any missing paperwork your club might have, check the back of my newsletter to see the paperwork tracker. Also, if your club has completed a service project and want to be featured in my newsletter, please reach out! I would like to end my greeting by saying that I am so proud of the division. You have made my job as a Lieutenant Governor so worthwhile because of the connections I have with all of you. Give yourself a pat on the back because you all are awesome! Thank you for a fantastic year and see you in 2022 .
Yours in Service,
Madison Matice

Progress Update
Service Spotlight Marielle Warmt Columbia High School Key Club Division 18
Columbia High School Key Club donated $285.31 to Equinox for their annual Thanksgiving dinner that gives Thanksgiving dinners to the local community who may not be able to provide themselves with a meal. We teamed up with Kiwanis and had a dine-to-donate event at our local Recovery Room where we raised the proceeds for the dinner. 15% of all the restaurant dining at the Recovery Room that night went back to Equinox. In the past years, we have helped raise money and set up these dinners with Kiwanis using the equinox donation process. We thought the Recovery room would be a great way to raise donations while people are out having a good meal out with some friends or family. Kiwanis has other dinners every year that our Key Club members enjoy helping out with and supporting the local community enjoy their holidays.
Service Spotlight Jordan Chatwin Fonda-Fultonville High School Division 17 This November and December, the Fonda-Fultonville Key Club participated in making and decorating Christmas ornaments. Ornaments made by Key Club members were delivered to local nursing homes and distributed to residents. Over the span of two weeks, Key Club members independently created handmade ornaments and delivered them to the high school office. From there, our supervisor, Mrs. Ochampaugh, dropped them off at nearby nursing homes. A total of 84 ornaments were made, and the nursing homes were very appreciative of the gifts. Collectively, there was a total of 18.5 hours spent on this project. Thank you to the Key Club members who participated in this service event! The main participants were Bridget Will (our district’s Lieutenant Governor and our former FFCS Key Club President), Tyler Couture (the current FFCS Key Club President), Jacki Codi (the FFCS Key Club Vice President), and Nadia Buanno.
Projects Key Club Supports Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma Center Foundation: Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma Center is one of the many New York Districts Endorsed Projects. The foundation supports pediatric trauma efforts in many areas around to protect the safety of children and to improve medical services response Pediatric Lyme Disease FoundationThis foundation helps families and kids suffering with Lyme disease. It also helps pay for medical treatment for children with this disease. Lyme disease is usually transmitted from a deer tick and anyone can get it, even kids! That's why its important to help those who do have it because treatment is very expensive.
Projects Key Club Supports District Project: This years District Project is Alex's Lemonade Stand! This organization aims to end pediatric cancer by spreading awareness and supporting families! Governor's Project: The Thirst Project is one of the main international partners that Key Club is involved with and is also the Governor's Project that District Governor, Chloe Baker chose for the 2021-2022 service year. Their mission is to end the global water crisis with the support of young people. To do this, they travel to developing communities in need of clean drinking water, and build freshwater wells. Waterborne diseases kill so many children each year, and the Thirst Project is working to eliminate this.
