Service Spotlight Nicolette Reale, Half Hollow Hills West Key Club Division 3 In order to honor the upcoming Veteran’s Day, Key Club members created cards to give to heroes who have spent a portion of their lives serving our country. Students gathered in the Hills West cafeteria for a fun arts and crafts project where they would make cards to give to veterans. Members included short letters to the heroes thanking them for their service and expressing their gratitude for such bravery. Some people’s favorite part was creating a design where they could show off their art skills, while others favored the part where they could demonstrate their thankfulness through a heartfelt message. Key Club members saw this as an easy and fun way to give back to their community by connecting with someone who has fought for our country’s freedom. As many veterans are left lonely on a day that is meant to honor them, we wanted to show them that they are always appreciated.

Projects Key Club Supports District Project: This years District Project is Alex's Lemonade Stand! This organization aims to end pediatric cancer by spreading awareness and supporting families!

Governor's Project: The Thirst Project is one of the main international partners that Key Club is involved with and is also the Governor's Project that District Governor, Chloe Baker chose for the 2021-2022 service year. Their mission is to end the global water crisis with the support of young people. To do this, they travel to developing communities in need of clean drinking water, and build freshwater wells. Waterborne diseases kill so many children each year, and the Thirst Project is working to eliminate this.

Projects Key Club Supports Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma Center Foundation: Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma Center is one of the many New York Districts Endorsed Projects. The foundation supports pediatric trauma efforts in many areas around to protect the safety of children and to improve medical services response Pediatric Lyme Disease Foundation-This foundation helps families and kids suffering with Lyme disease. It also helps pay for medical treatment for children with this disease. Lyme disease is usually transmitted from a deer tick and anyone can get it, even kids! That's why its important to help those who do have it because treatment is very expensive.
