Trick - or - Treat for UNICEF All October long, you can raise funds to support UNICEF’s water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) efforts in Haiti! Haiti is struggling with the COVID-19 pandemic, plus the aftermath of a magnitude 7.2 earthquake in August. Without safe water, more children and families are at risk. Funds you raise will support Circle K International’s WASH Project, the five-year signature campaign that will help meet families’ emergency WASH needs. This year, Key Club International and the rest of the Kiwanis family are joining forces with Circle K International in this effort to make a bigger impact on the lives of children in Haiti.

18 Averill Park High School Jeana Monaco

On Wednesday September 29th, Averill Park High School Key Club completed their first trash cleanup of the year. This project is our first of many for this year. What a better way to start the school year then doing a group bonding trash cleanup. Members helped clean up areas around the high school including the softball fields, front of the building, by the athletic complex and by the greenhouse. This is one of the biggest group service projects our club has done in a long time. Last year unfortunately it was hard to do service projects together as a club in person because we met virtually. Doing this trash cleanup we not only made our school green, but we also are making our world a better place through our service. This was a great opportunity to show our new members what key club is all about and how it can have a lasting impact. We plan to do more trash cleanups throughout the year and they’re easy to do because you can easily do them anywhere.

Projects Key Club Supports

Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma Center Foundation: Kiwanis Pediatric Trauma Center is one of the many New York Districts Endorsed Projects. The foundation supports pediatric trauma efforts in many areas around to protect the safety of children and to improve medical services response Pediatric Lyme Disease Foundation-This foundation helps families and kids suffering with Lyme disease. It also helps pay for medical treatment for children with this disease. Lyme disease is usually transmitted from a deer tick and anyone can get it, even kids! That's why its important to help those who do have it because treatment is very expensive.

Projects Key Club Supports District Project: This years District Project is Alex's Lemonade Stand! This organization aims to end pediatric cancer by spreading awareness and supporting families!

Governor's Project: The Thirst Project is one of the main international partners that Key Club is involved with and is also the Governor's Project that District Governor, Chloe Baker chose for the 2021-2022 service year. Their mission is to end the global water crisis with the support of young people. To do this, they travel to developing communities in need of clean drinking water, and build freshwater wells. Waterborne diseases kill so many children each year, and the Thirst Project is working to eliminate this.
