Coming Events:

The General Council of 470 Internationale met in Lisbon (Portugal) on the 9th November 2001, agreeing to changes that will please many Sailors and Coaches... Some simple changes have been made to the "Yellow Flag Rule" and our Championship Format , as requested by the Sailors. These changes will be introduced at 470 Championships during 2002, and Major Regatta Organisors will be encouraged to implement them as soon as possible YELLOW FLAG - (only Minor Changes) a) The wind speed limit for yellow flag reduced from 12 to 10 knots: b) The GC agreed to introduce the opportunity for the Race Committee to TURN OFF the yellow flag DURING a Race by displaying at a mark the International Code flag B with the yellow flag providing that no crew has already rounded that mark. (Could be used if the wind drops below 10 knots During a Race.) c) shortening course: the GC agreed to allow the Race Officer to shorten the course. d) minimum wind speed 4 knots: the GC decided NOT to introduce the minimum race wind speed limit. NEW CHAMPIONSHIP FORMAT e)Scores from qualification phase to be carried into the final phase. f) Regrouping system: the GC agreed to switch to the system used in Hyeres (3 days of qualification and 4 days of final phase; 2 races per day with total of 14 races and 1 discard in each phase if a minimum of 4 races are sailed in each phase). g) Number of boats in each group: the GC agreed to reduce the target number of boats in each group to 30 for Women, and stick with the 35 boats for the Men and mixed team fleet.

Championships 2003 and later: The Mexican Class Association is no longer able to organise the 2003 JWC. Other NCA’s are now invited to make bids Urgently.
