The Greek’s obviously enjoyed home ground advantage at the recent Athens Eurolymp taking both the Women’s and Men’s Titles..
Many teams from around the world are making their way to Europe for the start of the "Super Season" of Racing.
Big and Competitive fleets will be the rule this year with teams warming up for pre-Olympic selection trials.
Barcelona Week will play Host to our "Hottest Teams" next.. but the 470 Fleet is looking forward to the Worlds in Cagliari in September.
In the just completed Eurolymp event held at the beautiful Lake Garda, the German’s showed they are back on track in both Men’s and Women’s Fleet’s taking the double. It’s been a few years since we’ve seen 3 German women at the Top of the results but Garda maybe a sign of things to come.... 2002 WORLD’s UPDATE... Plans are going well for the Worlds.. Yalcin Gurkan, our SportsCommittee Chairman has issued Invitations sent by the Secretary to All 470 Nations around the World. Yalcin had already received repliesfrom AUS-JAP-TUR-ISR by the end of February. and would ask countries to reply URGENTLY. (Make sure your Secretary has done so !!) Int470 and the Italian Federation and Organisors have agreed to have a fleet size of upto 120 Men & Mixed Entries along with an Open Women’s Worlds event. Quota’s for the Men’s & Mixed event will be allocated according to Int470’s Championship regulations. UKR’s Braslavets/Matvienko as World Champions will receive a direct Invitation. The Notice of Race is expected shortly....
