“Last month I traveled to Ireland and had the opportunity to visit the Titanic Museum during the week of the 117th anniversary of its departure from Belfast. What is it about the Titanic that after more than hundred years, we are still fascinated by it? Maybe because there are lessons to still be learned. Titanic was a massive ship that became famous because of poor decisions and a random iceberg that got in the way of its journey. In 1912, the Titanic was designed to be the biggest, most luxurious and unsinkable vessel on the planet, but that all changed within just a few weeks of its voyage. There was apparently lack of moonlight on that tragic night, which caused no one to see the iceberg that lay ahead. No one on board could have ever imagined that this ship, that offered them a new life, would be the end.

Expose your business to over 11,000 potential customers at RAF Lakenheath by sponsoring an event or advertising on any of our media outlets such as the atEase magazine, 52° North travel guide or on our website!

SPONSORSHIP OPPORTUNITIES Event sponsorship gives you face time with and access to the RAF Lakenheath community. Build goodwill and brand recognition at our events!

ADVERTISING OPPORTUNITIES Place your ad in our monthly publication. Over 3,000 atEase magazines are printed each month and are available for free at roughly 20 strategic locations around base.

The wireless operators on board are to credit for saving many lives by continuing to call for help until the ship finally lost all communication. So, what can we learn? Well, sometimes what we hope to be our greatest achievement can turn out to be a disaster. Whereas, Belfast could have stopped all ambitions of continuing to build and become an industrial epicenter, it learned from the embarrassing tragedy and kept going. Whether we think of ourselves as an individual passenger or part of a larger group, there will surely be some icebergs along our life’s journey, so we need to notice them and take appropriate action. Because we can’t predict the future, we should always live life to the fullest because our ship is not unsinkable. And sometimes we may need to ask for help along the way, and that’s okay.”
