“Kelli, you are my best friend in life and I can’t thank you enough for not only your service to our country but for also making me a better person and husband each and every day. You have been an inspiration to many, including myself, and I have been proud to serve with you these past 13 years together and look forward to many years to come.” - Scott
”
from us to you...
a commander, but also a spouse, I’ve often been asked about the challenges I face in managing work/life balance. I would have to say that I’m still working on it. With both my husband and I being in command at the same time, it’s tough, but we can relate to what each other is going through. It’s just nice being under the same roof. In the thirteen years we’ve been together, we’ve spent six of those apart through different assignments and deployments. We have made sacrifices, but we also understand and support each other’s goals in life. Being a mil-to-mil couple has its own unique challenges, but nonmilitary spouses still serve
”
alongside their Airmen, Soldier, Marine or Sailor. Few people really understand the sacrifices that those who wear the uniform make, but it’s the spouse that knows that sacrifice on an intimate level. They bear the burden of caring for and offering comfort to children and family when the Nation calls their loved one(s) away. They are selfless individuals who have left behind everything they know to join their spouse on a commitment to duty, honor and country. Military spouses exhibit courage and faith, and are a reflection of the best our Nation has to offer. Let us celebrate military spouses not only in May, but all year round. Salùd!
As fellow military spouses, we know how challenging the military life can be. It brings us great pleasure to introduce and appreciate our fellow spouses for Military Spouse Appreciation Month. Turn to the center spread where some of our Active Duty members show their appreciation for their spouses!

We continue our series discussing techniques for implementing the 4 P's principle: placement, position, pressure and practice. Too tight of a grip and you will struggle to generate speed in your swing, to light and the ability to control the clubface may be compromised. When identifying the correct grip pressure, I suggest using the number scale. Start by gripping the club as tight as you can, this will be a ten, and then halve the pressure to a five. This will be a suitable pressure for most shots, tight enough the club won’t fall out of your hands and the forearms are gently flexed. Learn from a Pro Improve your game by booking a lesson with our dedicated golf instructor, Dean Fairweather. Lessons are available ThursdaySunday and cost $40 for 30 min or $70 for an hour.

MISS PEREGRINE'S HOME FOR PECULIAR CHILDREN Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children is Tim Burton's best film in a while and it has everything you expect from a good film of his, including amazing gothic-like special effects and aesthetics and a unique style. Seeking closure over his grandfather's death Jacob goes in search of a reclusive children's home that his grandfather told him stories about, and upon finding it he discovers a world of supernatural wonders. The movie is far from the book. Tim Burton has changed and altered many of the scenes to make them more dark and twisted as he is known for. It's really creative and interesting, and makes a very engaging take on the topic of "superheroes", and todays connection with World War II and similar time periods. I will say even though I love Tim Burton’s dark take on his films this movie is rated PG but some scenes can be disturbing for little children!
CORALINE This cinematic masterpiece took so many artistic risks and added a dark edge. With an immensely captivating plot and gorgeous visuals, the story was truly ahead of its time. Coraline is moved to a new town where she doesn’t know anyone and her family has no time for her but one day she discovers a key that opens a door into a new world. This world is filled with everything she likes, wants or wishes. Coraline must choose between her real family and a family that she always wanted. Things don’t go according to plan as her other mother wants her to stay but on one condition…sew on button eyes.
