Who

we are Events in 2021

Track & Field Grand Opening USO RAF Lakenheath basewide Egg Hunt Newly renovated CYP Travel Fair Liberty Fest Oktoberfest Rainy Day Play Café

Providing the best in customer service to the Lakenheath community is not just a saying, but a way of life. Our goal is to deliver the best in morale, welfare and recreation to support our mission, Airmen and families.

A

s an integral part of the 48th Fighter Wing, the 48th Force Support Squadron provides the very best in quality of life initiatives, events and activities to the RAF Lakenheath community. Collectively, we view supporting the 48th Fighter Wing Airmen and their families as our highest calling. Through initiatives, events and world-class customer service, we aim to not only create a network of support, but also a cohesive and fun community. Our RAF Lakenheath and Feltwell bases are a melting pot of cultures and it is our goal to create a taste of home for each and every member of the community. An important part of the continued efforts toward morale and support is the infrastructure of FSS and its growth. Not usually seen through surface-level interactions, this includes the commitment of our employees and dedication from the community itself.

The Liberty Club

Did you know.. The Liberty Club consists of a Steakhouse, Bistro & its very own Casino Bar & Lounge?

In March of last year, after the UK implemented its first national lockdown, our 48th Fighter Wing personnel and their families were impacted on every level. As we got into a groove with our new normal, everyday operations had to be altered. Our workforce and families needed access to readymade, hot meals. To serve this most basic need of our community, our mission was to offer the joy and simplicity of an easy, prepared meal amidst the hardship and complexity of new lockdown rules. We quickly transitioned our dining facilities from sit-down to exclusively take-away and delivery, taking orders and payment both online and over the phone. We launched our Beverage Cart which made stops through Liberty Village and the dorms, bringing our specialty drinks directly to our customers’ front doors. Over the course of the last year, we have taken customer feedback and used it to continually improve the overall experience when dining with an FSS establishment.

It wouldn't be possible without you.

“Since our time of arrival in December 2019, the FSS facilities have been a staple for leisure, entertainment, and wellness. From bingo nights and movies, to playoff games at the Club, or crushing weights at the gym, the FSS remains an important part of our resilience. Looking forward to COVID being behind us and taking advantage of the many opportunities the FSS provides to Airmen and their families.” SMSgt Helder, Candice

"Breckland Pines in recent years has continuously strived to improve the golf course and club house. You can see the grounds crew working hard every day from tee to green keeping the course in the best playing condition.”

“We thank the marketing team for working countless hours, continuously working keeping the website running & magazines on the shelves!”

“Thanks to FSS keeping the gym open, I've been able to maintain my physical fitness and relieve stress.” SSgt Munguia, Brittany

“Thank you FSS for providing the resources I need to continue my education!” A1C Munguia, Daniel

New Track & Field! In partnership with DoDEA, the Fitness Center is nearing the finish line of a new running track and multi-purpose sports field. Opening in 2021, it will showcase an artificial turf field, audience seating for up to 360 people, and modernized scoring devices controlled from a central press box. This joint project provides unrivalled improvement to the quality of life for our 48th Fighter Wing community. Our new sports field will be accessible year-round, contributing not only to the Liberty Wing mission but also providing our workforce and their families a place to make their physical fitness a top priority. Rainy Day Play Café! For many years, the Ward Community Center on RAF Feltwell has been under-utilized, despite the fact that over 200 military families live on the installation. The Rainy Day Play Café was designed and created using $25K of innovation funds, drastically improving quality of life and morale in our community. In addition to the soft play area, a new café in the same location features a revamped menu with food and specialty coffee. The café directly supports not only the families living on RAF Feltwell, but also the Airmen Leadership School, DoDEA sites, Security Forces, and Detachment 4.

On the horizon....2021 USO is coming to town! We are proud and happy to announce that the USO will make their debut here at RAF Lakenheath this spring! The USO, powered by a strong network of volunteers, is a private organization that relies on the generosity of individuals, organizations and private corporations to support its activities. Their mission is to strengthen America’s military service members by keeping them connected to their family, home and country. Nearly half of our RAF Lakenheath Airmen are unaccompanied and the programs and services brought by the USO will bring an incomparable boost to their overall morale and well-being. Liberty Fest 2021! Over the last year, Covid-19 regulations have forced us all to find alternative ways to celebrate important holidays. However, the 48th Force Support Squadron’s commitment to hosting community events has been unwavering. We have made required changes to our usual events and will continue to adhere to whatever the current guidelines may be. Liberty Fest 2021 will be no exception. We’ll have to-go meal and beverage packages, take-home activities for children, online classes and competitions, and socially distanced events. We can’t wait for sunnier skies and Liberty Fest 2021!

The Backyard at the Liberty Club! The Backyard at the Liberty Club is a $50K project intended to better serve all DoD members of the Tri-Base community in 2021. The Backyard will have a family zone and an adult zone with the option to merge the two for large events. Our goal is to build camaraderie with fun and welcoming areas outfitted with firepits, volleyball courts, football billiards, a child play area and much more! Residents of Liberty Village can easily go between their homes and The Backyard using a safe walking path. Both families and units will have the ability to rent out one or both areas with easy access to the food and beverage services of the Liberty Club.
