In my previous Manager’s Corner, I wrote about how the weather would soon cool off and dry up. I never expected that it would take a hurricane to officially usher in Fall weather. Hurricane Milton certainly formed quickly and wreaked havoc on The Great Outdoors, and our central Florida region, but it also demonstrated how dedicated our CSA staff, Board Members, Condo Presidents and TGO volunteers are in our community. It was heartwarming to see neighbors come together before and after the hurricane to support each other. I wish to thank everyone in the community who volunteered to help clean up the tons of debris and place it along the curbs for collection by our CSA team. I also want to commend the CSA staff for their tireless extra work to collect debris and quickly repair the damage to our community’s common areas. Thank you for the many letters and comments I received regarding the hard work of our CSA team.
Our focus this week has been to restore our community back to normal by collecting the tons of storm debris from the roads, and complete a full mow-cycle. We are making good progress this week and the weather is cooperating. We have also resumed some drainage work along Beehive Road between Plantation and Windsong. The hurricane in early October, and wet weather we experienced in September has set our golf course grassing progress back quite a bit. We are expecting to make some progress this week as we receive more sod from the farms. We still have quite a bit more to do before we can even consider an opening date. Most of the other improvement projects are now completed and we’re ready to see our community bustling with activities, socials and meetings soon..
This week we held our first full Board of Directors meeting of the season. Serving as a board member can be a time-consuming, controversial and sometimes thankless job, but I see firsthand how hard each of them work on your behalf and without compensation or favor. They conduct research, serve on committees, evaluate the budget, and spend time preparing for board meetings. Your Chairman Cliff Creech works hard to provide communication, leadership and long-range vision to our community. This season, as Board Meetings and Committee Meetings ramp up, please join me in thanking them for giving up their personal time to help move our community forward. Board Member seats are elected positions, and this year’s election will take place on January 27th, 2025. If you are interested, there is still time to consider running for an elected position, more information is found within this issue of The Happenings or contact a member of our Elections Committee.
I have a community ‘housekeeping’ item that came up recently at our Board of Directors planning meeting. According to our bylaws, all vehicles and RVs must be parked on the site’s concrete driveway and no closer than 5 ft from the street. Thank you for complying with this bylaw, and as always, please contact me or the CSA office if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Billy Specht CSA Manager

The course sustained minimal damage during Hurricane Milton’s trek across the state. Let’s hope we do not have to go through something like that again.
IRRIGATION WORK
Knock on wood. The new system has been operating with minimal issues. Programming tasks are still ongoing
SHAPING
Weather (Hurricanes) is still throwing monkey wrenches into the final shaping process, in preparation for grassing.
GREENS
ALL GREENS have received sprigs and grow-in is moving along very nicely.
Weather is still the issue. 2 hurricanes in 2 weeks put a big hurt in the scheduling process. We were able to apply sod and or sprigs before Helene on holes 8,9,10,11,12,13 and 16. We hope to have new sprigs and sod in place by the time you read this report.
Nothing new here. Re-shaping of bunkers on 2, 13 and 14, select areas of underbrush clearing and trimming of trees continue. Drainage at some cart path low areas has been installed. Drainage work on the left side of hole #17 is in the planning phase.
The shop will open on Saturdays from
9 to 1 for the next several weeks. For those wishing to resume practicing at the TGO practice tee, tokens can be purchased at the CSA office. The practice greens and chipping area will remain closed for now. We also ask that you refrain from using the practice tee for chipping balls back and forth.
Again, as grassing continues around tee and green complexes irrigation heads will be popping up at regular intervals. They do not have eyes. If you are within range you will be doused.
The next opportunity for a live briefing with Chuck & Shane on the renovation progress will be on Wednesday, November 6th. It will be more of a question and answer session, scheduled from noon to 1 PM at the cart barn
Sulfation, the accumulation of hard lead sulfate crystals, is the main reason for capacity and efficiency loss in lead-acid batteries. Sulfate crystals can develop rapidly, preventing your batteries from accepting a full charge.
Over time, sulfation crystals rob battery capacity. As a result, the battery needs more charge more often with a shorter runtime. As sulfation increases, so does your need to replace your batteries. Desulfate to reduce costs.
We Now Have the Capability to Reverse the Sulfation Process!
• Increase Your Battery Life-Span
• Return Lost Capacity to Your Used Batteries
• Keep Your Battery Pack(s) in Sulfate-Free Condition
• Save Money on Purchasing New Batteries
• We provide you a detailed health report for each battery Call today to schedule an appointment...
Schedule a time to bring your cart in. We will hook it up to our Desulfator Machine. We will need your cart for 48 hours.
Cost for a desulfination process including a complete diagnostic report - $250

Florida and TGO share the same vehicle and traffic laws as the rest of the US: Everyone must yield to emergency vehicles. If there’s no shoulder on the road, simply stop to allow an emergency vehicle to pass. We have all been driving long enough to know this. Please, when you see emergency vehicles coming in with lights flashing, pull over and let them pass! It could be your loved ones they are here for.
If you have questions about lawn spraying, getting sprinklers adjusted, or any other services provided by the Community Services Association, residents should contact the CSA Office by email at service@tgocsa.org or call 321-268-9767 to mention your concerns.
THE FIRST NEWCOMER ORIENTATION MEETING for this season will be held in the Plantation Manor on Monday, November 18, 2024 from 11:30 am until 12:30 pm. Please call Nancy Wagner at 607542-6374 to reserve your spot so there will be enough seating and handouts for everyone.

The Automated External Defibrillator (AED) is a portable electronic device that diagnoses incorrect heart rhythm patterns that could potentially be life threatening. The device treats the condition with electrical shocks.
AED use requires minimal training because an electronic voice prompts the user through each step. If you are helping a person who collapsed and you’re unsure if a heart attack is the reason, don’t hesitate to use the AED. Every minute counts.
The device determines if the patient needs an electrical shock or not. Simply place the AED pads on the patient’s bare skin, one on the right upper chest and the other on their lower left side. No one else should be touching the patient because false readings could result. The AED will advise you, the device operator, what to do next.
TGO has eight AEDs located at CSA buildings.

The CSA crew picks up household trash 364 days of the year (off for Christmas). You’ll see them in a big truck pulling one or more green hoppers behind it. The guy crouching on the hopper grabs your trash bag as they pass by. To make the process efficient, please follow these rules:
• Trash must be placed in plastic bags that are tied closed. Lightweight bags should be tied together. Trash that is not in plastic bags may not be picked up.
• Break down all boxes and put all packing material in a closed bag.
• Place trash within one foot of the road so that it’s within easy reach.
• Dispose of your pet’s waste inside the closed trash bag.
• Put trash out at the curb by 10:00 am - Pick-up time varies within the park.
• Do not mix household trash with organic yard debris or construction materials.
• Do not put trash out at night because by morning it will have been scattered by wild animals.
Please do not allow pets to urinate on trash or debris.
The crew has to pick this up!
• Also be aware that if you place your trash out on the street too early, the vultures think you have prepared them a sack lunch!
The CSA crew picks up organic yard debris at least once per week. Tree trimmings should be cut down to a maximum of 4 feet long, weigh less than 50 pounds, and be stacked uniformly at the curb. Loose material such as pine needles, leaves and small twigs must be collected in untied plastic bags or open containers. The CSA will not pick up sod, dirt, tree stumps, construction material (e.g., concrete, wood, drywall, metal), chemicals (e.g., paint, oil), major appliances, or tires. DO NOT bring these items to the CSA Maintenance Yard yourself. They may be dropped off, without charge, at the Brevard County Mockingbird Mulching Facility (321-264-5009) on South Street (SR405). Go past the Lowes SR405 entrance then turn LEFT at the first traffic signal. Most other waste items such as carpet, porcelain plumbing fixtures, etc., that are not mentioned above can be dropped off at the Brevard County Transfer Station (321-264-5048) that is also on South Street (SR405), but 0.5 mile past Lowes on the same side of the street.
Our Declaration of Covenants states that “No CSA land may be cleared of any vegetation without prior written permission from the Board of Directors or its designee. Unauthorized clearing of CSA property will result in a hearing, with possible fines and ordered replanting.” This only makes sense, as you would not cut vegetation on someone else’s property without permission first. In order to track this better, we will require anyone seeking permission to cut vegetation on CSA property to fill out an ARC permit. An approved permit must include the CSA manager’s signature, and a copy of the permit will be filed in your ARC file for documentation purposes.
There are 32 lakes in The Great Outdoors and all of them are home to alligators. Please keep these points in mind to be safe when alligators could be nearby:
• It is illegal to feed, taunt or harass an alligator.
• Do not swim or wade in any of our lakes.
• Do not walk near the shorelines and do not walk your pets near the shoreline.
• Do not allow your pets to swim, exercise or drink in or near our lakes.
• While alligators can be active at any time, they are most active between dusk and dawn and move during the night to different water sources.
• Please give our alligators the respect and space they deserve.
NOTE: If you come across an aggressive alligator, please contact the CSA Office prior to SNAP and allow us to handle any situation.
Channel your inner reporter and get to know what’s happening around the Nature Center at TGO! The Nature Center needs someone to coordinate articles for The Happenings. This involves working with Editor Greg Wostrel, the Board of Directors, and various committee chairs about events, dates and locations. Information to be covered includes:
• List of upcoming events;
• Event reminders on TGO Facebook pages;
• Candid photos of activities;
• Occasional short interviews with attendees at various functions.
You can submit these items via word processing along with any related photos. So...if you or anyone you know is interested in this “high-paying” position (kidding, of course – we’re all volunteers), please contact any Board member as listed in The Happenings. Thank you for helping keep the Nature Center looking its best!!! THE NATURE CENTER WEBSITE and Facebook

As well as having an outstanding museum and library, there have been some new additions for your enjoyment.
One new addition is a Disney-themed, child-size table with two chairs in the Kids Korner. This set was donated to The Nature Center by one of our members. Along with the small table already there and a bench, kids can sit and read or do puzzles, while the adults can sit at the larger table and just enjoy being there or peruse our Library shelves.
The other fairly new addition is an aquarium, located in the Conference Center. This was also donated by a member. It’s fascinating to watch the fish!! There is a rock collection in the Conference Center, plus information on walking trails, and a nice diarama featuring ducks.
So...be sure to check out our new additions, and enjoy the “old” ones as well. The museum is extensive, with a great variety of creatures and historical information. The Library is available to anyone who wishes to check out a book or a DVD. Just be sure to sign the log sheet when checking out and returning them.
When you have guests - whether young or old - this is a great place to acquaint them with The Great Outdoors and The Nature Center. If you’d just like to sit and relax, the perfect place to do that is on our air-conditioned porch.

Hurricane Milton formed quickly and wreaked havoc on The Great Outdoors, and our central Florida region, last week. This hurricane also demonstrated how dedicated our CSA staff, Board Members, Condo Presidents and TGO volunteers are in our community. It was heartwarming to see neighbors come together before and after the hurricane to support each other. A BIG thank you goes out to everyone in the community who volunteered to help clean up the tons of debris and place it along the curbs for collection by our CSA team.

Ever wonder why the Hobbyland parking lot is overflowing on Thursdays? It is because TGO Quilters are busy working on projects and having weekly meetings.
The quilting group is open to all residents of TGO, some come for the entire day, some for the afternoon and others come just for the 1PM meeting. The quilters also have monthly weekend retreats at Hobbyland and once a year go on an off-premises retreat.
Periodically, there are bus trips to quilt shops and regional quilt shops. The quilters are a friendly and caring group, eager to share their knowledge and love of quilting, providing assistance and classes to members. Some members of the club didn’t know how to quilt until they joined the club and are now very skilled at their craft.
The Quilting Club has been an active club in TGO since 2002. It was started by three TGO residents, Mary Ann Sheppard, Carol Hall and Sylvia Cote, all of whom are still in the club. The leadership of the club has evolved over time, but the commitment to quilting, friendship, learning and community has not wavered.
Over the years the quilters have participated in many community service projects, benefitting both TGO and the surrounding community. They have made quilts for Veterans Day that were distributed
to TGO WWll and Korean Conflict Veterans at a special church service; contributed baskets for Relay for Life; made lap quilts and placemats for Meals on Wheels recipients; baby showers for the BETA/Pregnancy Crisis Center; bibs for nursing home residents; quilts for homeless veterans; fidget quilts for Alzehimer patients; and the list goes on...
This past season, one of the quilters suggested making quilts for Foster Children. The quilters embraced this idea with their usual enthusiasm. The member recalled a friend of hers, who had been a foster mother for a boy who had been given a homemade quilt, he loved the quilt and carried it with him from home to home, until his final placement. Over the years the quilt brought him stability and comfort. Even though he is now in his twenties, he still has the quilt on his bed.
The quilters loved this story and some shared their own experiences with foster care and adoption. They even took this project one step further and decided to make pillowcases to deliver with the quilts, so the children have something to put their possessions in whilst being relocated.
The Family Partnerships of Central Florida, the group that oversees foster care was contacted and came to one of the Quilter’s meetings to teach us about the agency and the over 1200 children aged newborn through 17, whose care they administer. The quilters then started to create quilts while at TGO and on their summer travels. As members return from their summer adventures, they are bringing back beautiful quilts to donate. The quilters have embraced this project with enthusiasm and generosity. Their goal is make quilts for all foster care children in Northern Brevard County. The response from members of the club has been overwhelming and their goal will be reached and exceeded. In addition to the time spent cutting,
continued on next page >
piecing and quilting their beautiful creations, the quilters also donated all the fabric and materials used. The quilts will be distributed at the annual foster care holiday event when gifts are given to the children.
Before the quilts and pillowcases are donated to Foster Care, TGO Quilters would like to share their quilts with their friends and neighbors at TGO. On Sunday, November 10, from 1 to 3 at Hobbyland, they will be presenting A Quilters Showcase. This is a wonderful opportunity to see the quilts and learn more about the club. In addition to being able to view the beautifully displayed quilts, there will be a free raffle for all who attend. Carole Hommel will be donating a quilt for the lucky winner.
To see the quilting club in action feel free to join them Thursdays in Hobbyland.
Hobbyland is available for sewing from 9:30 AM in the main room and also in the smaller room after lunch, with the meeting starting at 1PM. New members are always welcome.
Feel free to come for any part of the day, or the entire day. For more information about TGO Quilters please come to a meeting.

If you are like me, you always have a list going and growing for repairs to the home and the RV. Or, perhaps you’ve hired a contractor to help reduce your work load and your list(s) and increase your living space constructing or re-modeling. You may want to have an Executive Suite added to your Pad, but there is yet another list that you can’t forget if you are planning a home renovation or reconstruction project, consider the following FIREWISE TIPS:
1. DISCARD OILY WORK RAGS PROPERLY: Oil and solvent-soaked rags can Spontaneously Combust. The warmer the weather, the quicker the rags can reach ignition temperature. A better short-term storage option could be a dedicated metal container with a metal lid and the garbage dump.
2. Solvents, like mineral spirits and acetone, should be kept in screw-top cans (as they are sold). Store them safely, away from heat sources, like the water heater or the car. Their fumes are just waiting for a source of ignition.
3. Keep the worksite clear of packing materials. This includes cardboard, packing paper and wood shavings. Dispose of these materials at the end of the work day.
Butch Jones Chairman 804-514-4458
Christopher Miller Co-Chairman 407-375-8310
Tim Graham 561-262-8833
4. Never use fire as a trash disposal method. No open flames in TGO!
5. Keep flammable paint off-site if possible.
6. Avoid using portable heaters and dryers.
7. Have a “NO Smoking “ policy on the worksite.
8. Have a fire extinguisher and a charged garden hose handy.
9. If you have a gas cylinder on the work site, follow Gas Cylinder Safety Protocols.
10. Implement “Hot Work Guidelines” if you are cutting , welding or soldering.
11. Cover wooden floors before doing any Hot Work.
You may have additional suggestions for the Firewise Tip List. Your Contractor may have other good tips too. Share a copy of this list with him and his crew. If you are “the Contractor and crew” too, make sure you review this good Fire Prevention Lore every day on YOUR RECONSTRUCTION JOB.

Well, last week was really topsy-turvy, wasn’t it?
After several weeks of warm and relentlessly humid weather, we had days of worry watching hurricane Milton rapidly intensify and slowly march towards central Florida. Then, of course, it was prep and waiting and then… the cleanup and putting everything away. Even though I’ve been through plenty of power outages, between winter storms up north and tropical storms here in Titusville, for some reason losing power for about three days this time felt different.
This time the reality that consistent, reliable power is a luxury struck me powerfully. I don’t know about you, but I know that I’ve taken it for granted and many other people do as well. It’s just there when you need it and it’s easy not to think about it. You need some light, you flip a switch. You want to cook, you turn the oven on. When you open the refrigerator (and that convenient light comes on) and everything is wonderfully cold. And stuff in the freezer is nicely frozen. But, all of that happens because the power is just right there. It’s provided by a staggeringly complex system that is also in some respects quite fragile. Not only are there huge teams of people working all the time to provide this magic continuously, there is another huge team of people ready to spring into action when there’s a problem.
So, let’s all raise a glass, say a prayer, or give a salute to the miracle of the power grid and the people who maintain it for us.
TGO has its own crew of people who take care of stuff so that residents can happpily do their own thing. They had a big job after the storm and they got right to work. Way to go, everyone!
Comments, ideas, suggestions, and submissions are always welcome. Please be in touch with me here: email: happenings@tgocsa.com phone: 401-286-9228

We’re looking for participants for a special promotion being conducted as part of a local outreach study in your area. Early hearing loss treatment is essential. The tide is turning, and more and more people are recognizing the value of treating even mild hearing loss. Yet, people still wait an average of seven years to treat their hearing loss.
Why get tested and treated? Here are the reasons:
• Better hearing may protect you from dementia, raise your income, and help you stay socially active.
You will also receive a FREE hearing evaluation and a FREE Video Otoscope Inspection. A Video Otoscope is a tiny camera that is placed just inside your ear canal—much like your doctor does with a hand-held Otoscope during a check-up. It’s completely painless and will allow us to see whether earwax buildup may be causing difficulties with your hearing. We will also test your hearing using an Audiometer—much like you probably experienced in grade school. Neither inspection will cost you a penny, nor are you under any obligation. In addition, a trained hearing care professional will be conducting demonstrations of incredible new digital hearing instrument technologies.
• Hearing aids today are so advanced they make it possible for most people to hear in very crowded, noisy situations.
• Early intervention “trains” your ears when they are most able, setting you up for more effective treatment and better hearing.
• The hearing checkup is free and painless.

TGO Trick or Treat Event
SUNDAY Oct 27, 3:00 - 5:30
For Those Handing Out Treats
We are doing things a bit differently this year. Each household that wishes to Hand Out Treats is asked to come to my porch at 542 Fairways Dr to Sign Up and take a Pumpkin Stake. Sign up sheet includes the Stake # on the back, your Name, Street Address, and Email. Pictures of the porch set up are included in this post
On the day of the event place your stake at your curb so Trick or Treaters know you are handing out treats. As last year I will send an email with an estimated of number of treat seekers. On the evening after the event we will pick up the stakes from your yard.
For Those Looking for Treats
Send an email to me at ecrtwright1@mail. com to let me know how many kids will be in your group. Like last year I’ll compile a list of addresses to visit and will email it to you no later than Sunday morning. Remember event starts at 3:00 and ends at 5:30.

I’m FED UP with hunkering down.
I don’t even know what that means! I’ve always pictured a sumo wrestler pinning the other on the ground. Now THAT’S hunkering down. The news people, the weather people, governors, mayors, and even people I trust like priests and police are all telling me to “hunker down.” Why? Why should I hunker down?
The reason I ask is I went to a couple of dictionaries to see what “hunker” means. Well, the very first definition you see says it means to squat or crouch down. What? I don’t ever do that unless someone is shooting at my head.
So, if a hurricane is coming I should squat to weather the storm (pun intended)? If a pandemic happens I’m supposed to crouch down in my house for six months to a year until it passes?
So then I looked up synonyms for hunkering and it says crump, scrunch up, crisp, bow, crease, stoop, crinkle, bend, scrunch, etc. Ouch! How’s that gonna help? In those positions you can’t walk the dog, eat, and then there’s that little matter of the restroom. Aren’t hurricanes painful enough? Luckily in a hurricane you only have to hunker down for a couple of days until it passes. Then you can get a couple of friends to lift you up and straighten your knees. But if another pandemic happens
you can’t let anybody near you or touch you for months to a year or more. Can’t I just sit comfortably in my lounge chair sipping on an adult beverage and watch the over the top hysteria on TV? They tell us everyone is hunkering down. I don’t believe it and it’s not a pretty visual. Have you ever actually seen someone hunkering down? Can you picture 150,000,000 people all hunkering down? Uh, no! Can you imagine models walking down the runway in high fashions in hunkering down position? Also, it would totally ruin the annual swimsuit issues if that’s the position they posed in.
Ok nobody will do it so why do they keep telling us we all need to hunker down? My answer to them is “YOU hunker down.” I’m gonna relax in my lounge chair, play on my video game system or just call and Facetime friends and family until the storm passes like a bad kidney stone attack. Hmmm, You know I might just hunker down for that but for now, I’m fed UP with hunkering DOWN.
-Dr. Sammy
The Courtesy Patrol at The Great Outdoors Golf and RV Resort plays a vital, yet often underappreciated, role in keeping the community safe and running smoothly.
Many residents and guests may not realize the extent of their responsibilities. Led by Supervisor Tony Del Monte, the team goes beyond simple patrol duties.
Their day begins with a thorough check of all equipment in the patrol vehicle before embarking on their rounds. From monitoring areas like Route 50, Hidden Lakes, and the Nature Trail, to patrolling the golf course, their presence is everywhere. They respond swiftly to requests from the Front Gate, assist with EMS calls, and handle tasks for the CSA office. At Plantation Manor, they ensure all lights are off, thermostats are set, and doors are locked.
Whether it’s performing final trash compaction at 5 PM, securing the maintenance gate, or closing up the fitness room, the Courtesy Patrol keeps the resort safe and orderly—all while tackling a myriad of other responsibilities, like serving as flagmen during various activities.

MAKES YOUR IPHONE, IPAD, OR MAC LAPTOP COMPUTERS WORK LIKE MAGIC!
(I use #1, #3, #4, #5, #6, #8, #9, #10) And don’t forget my BONUS TIP at the end!!
1. Make Text Larger (So You Can Read Without Squinting!)
No one needs to squint at their screen or play the guessing game with tiny letters. Head to Settings > Accessibility > Display & Text Size and choose Larger Text to adjust it to the perfect size. For even bigger text, turn on Larger Accessibility Sizes—because seeing is believing!
2. Enable “Speak Selection” for Hands-Free Reading
Sometimes, it’s just easier to listen. Enable Speak Selection by going to Settings > Accessibility > Spoken Content, then turn on Speak Selection. Now, anytime you select text, you’ll get a Speak option. Perfect for emails, messages, and even that recipe you’re trying out!
3. Use Siri for Quick Commands (She’s Like a Personal Assistant Who Never Takes a Day Off)
Siri can be your shortcut to everything. Just say, “Hey Siri, what’s the weather today?” or “Hey Siri, call my daughter.” Siri will handle it, no need for multiple taps or clicks. To set Siri up, go to Settings > Siri & Search and customize your preferences.
4. Magnify What You Need (Better Than Squinting)
If the screen’s still too small, your iPhone has a built-in magnifier. Enable it in Settings > Accessibility > Magnifier. Now you can triple-click the side button and turn your iPhone into a magnifying glass, great for reading the fine print on that medication bottle or seeing intricate details.
5. Use “Find My” to Never Lose Your Device Again
For peace of mind, set up Find My on your Apple devices. This feature helps you locate misplaced devices by signing into iCloud on another Apple device or through the web. Open Settings > [Your Name] > Find My and turn on Find My iPhone (or iPad, or Mac) to make sure it’s activated.
6. Set Up Medical ID for Safety
Emergency responders can access essential health information from your lock screen if needed. Go to Health > Medical ID and enter your
details, including emergency contacts, allergies, and medications. This can be a literal lifesaver if anything happens.
7. Use Apple’s Built-In News App for the Day’s Headlines
The News app organizes articles from reputable sources right on your device. Just tap the app and scroll through your interests, like local news, health updates, or senior-friendly hobbies. To adjust topics, open Settings > News to make it more personalized.
8. Video Calls Made Easy with FaceTime
FaceTime can bring family and friends right to you, with the tap of a button. Open FaceTime and tap New FaceTime to start a call with any contact. For an easier setup, add family members as Favorites in your Phone app, so you can call them directly with one tap.
9. Keep Photos Organized with Albums (So You Can Actually Find Them!)
Nothing’s better than a walk down memory lane, but hunting for photos can be frustrating. Open Photos, tap Albums at the bottom, and create albums for things like grandkids, vacations, or favorite memories. You can easily add photos by selecting them and choosing Add to Album.
10. Use Voice Dictation to Type Without Typing
Typing out messages or emails can feel like a marathon. Skip it with Voice Dictation! Just tap the microphone icon on your keyboard and start speaking. Your device will handle the typing. It’s fast, it’s easy, and, honestly, it feels a little magical.
BONUS TIP:
Can’t find your iPhone? If your SIRI is enabled, call out “Hey SIRI, where are you?” She’ll call out “I’m here!” (And if you have an Apple Watch, press the power button on the side once and look for the icon it will send repetitive pings to the iPhone, so follow your ears to locate.)
If you need help learning or fixing your Apple Devices, or want to know more, follow me on facebook.com/MyAppleTechKris or give me a call 321-243-4324

For those who want the maneuverability of a canoe, but the balance and strength of a fishing boat, behold the Gheenoe. The Gheenoe is a boat developed by Harley Gheen, who was an avid fisherman and senior designer at Kennedy Space Center in the 1960s. He abandoned his career to develop his specialized fishing boat, which de cades later is legend among fishermen worldwide. There are four models of Gheenoe boats manufactured at the Gheenoe location on State Road 405 in Titusville and two additional models manufactured on Childre Ave. Gheenoe is now run by Harley’s two sons, Sam and “Pugar.”
One of Titusville’s claims to fame is it is the “redfish capital of the world.” Of course, there are a number of other places that make this same claim. However, the lagoons that border Titusville are known for their plentiful supply of large redfish.
A paradise of sorts for local fishermen, redfish tails can be spotted peeping up throughout the Mosquito Lagoon and various other areas of the Indian River Lagoon. Of course, Merritt Island must also deserve credit for this, as the wildlife refuge borders these areas as well.
Modern-day historic downtown Titusville is but a fraction of what it used to be in the 1800s. Nearly all of downtown, about 42 buildings and outhouses, were burned to the ground in the great fire of 1895. One person was killed, and others were injured.
The fire was a case of arson and two men were arrested for the deed. It started in the Hamburg dry goods store and spread throughout the city thanks to a strong western wind that night, according to North Brevard Historical Society documents. Town council documents, books and notable pieces of Titusville’s history were destroyed in the process. The estimated damage at the time? $60,000. The two men arrested for the crime were found guilty and faced jail time in Orlando because locals did not want them housed in the area.
