Greetings to our special guests who attended MotoAmerica’s Superbikes at Barber Motorsports Park on May 19-21, 2023. This photo that Brian J. Nelson captured of Jake Gagne pretty much sums up what his competition saw of him in the two Medallia Superbike races. Impressive, to say the least, in dominating fashion, Jake pulled the trigger on his Fresh N Lean Progressive Yamaha YZF-R1 to earn the pole position and went on to win both of the Medallia Superbike races, by leading every lap in both races. So, one would expect this of the two-time MotoAmerica Superbike Champion, right? I agree, except I can assure you that with what we saw of the talented field of Superbike riders at Road Atlanta and Barber, Road America will not be a walk in the park for the Yamaha pilot. Everyone will be doing their homework to put a stop to Jake’s winning ways!

One high point of the weekend, and what really impressed me at Barber, took place at the podium after Superbike race two. Most of our VIP’s were able to take part in the post-podium celebration, getting up on the podium with race winner Jake, runner-up Mathew Scholtz, and third-place Cameron Beaubier. If that was not special enough, three lucky VIPs received the ultimate memorabilia. Jake, Mathew and Cameron each gave their winning trophies to a lucky individual! Now that is pretty cool. Where else in professional motorsports can you get photos with racers before the race, join them on the podium, and watch them give their trophies to some lucky fans! Can it get any better than this?

In this book, we have assembled a selection of event images and candid photos of many of you, our special guests at Barber Motorsports Park. I hope you enjoy this book as much I did in getting the opportunity to entertain you with many fantastic and interesting guest speakers.

The MotoAmerica ambassadors came out for our pre-race VIP gathering of the Medallia Superbike race. Cameron Petersen takes a pre-race moment to get a group shot with his new fans! Cameron Beaubier listens to some last-minute information from his Tytlers BMW crew chief.

Richie Escalante had a big fan send-off with his Vision Wheel M4 ECSTAR Suzuki GSX-R1000R.

Richie qualified 4th.

2nd quickest qualifier Cam Petersen with crew member Lee Vaughn seems to be enjoying the pre-race activities. Cam went sive Yamaha R1.

Happy life for racers Gagne, Petersen, Scholtz and Yamaha with a 1-2 3 sweep in race 1.

Safety was one of the topics for the weekend. VIP special guest speakers

AMA/FIM Safety Oﬃcer Dan Argano, MotoAmerica Medical Staﬀ member Dr. Jim Buskirk and Dainese North America’s Louis Ortega and Bobby Fong all provided a plethora of interesting information.

Westby Racing team manager Chuck Giacchetto; Mellisa Paris, Team owner of The WagBar MP13 Racing Team; and Louis Ortega, Dainese North America Business Development Manager each provided a unique racing or product perspective to our VIP’s in the Barber Motorsports Paddock Club.

What a day to hear and rub elbows with the likes of King of the Baggers points leader Harley Davidson’s Kyle Wyman, 4X Superbike champion and STILL racing Josh Hayes or 5X Superbike Champion Cameron Beaubier. Additionally, Barber Museum’s Nick LaCasse stopped by to provide details about Mr. Barber’s vision on building the Barber Museum.

Are we having fun yet? You betcha! On Sunday the VIPs returned for the Medallia Superbike race 2 pre-grid.

Once again, VIPs got pictures with the likes of superfast Superbike racers Fresh N Lean Progressive Yamaha Racing’s Cameron Petersen, Tytlers Cycle Racing’s PJ Jacobson and Warhorse HSBK Racing Ducati’s Josh Herrin.

What better way to conclude a great weekend than to be part of the Medallia Superbike podium celebration with top three finishers, Jake Gagne, Mathew Scholtz and Cameron Beaubier.
