Congratulations, Pauline Portillo! by Gregory Zlotnick, Center for Legal and Social Justice – St. Mary’s University School of Law

In October 2017, Pauline received the AT&T Excellence in Pro Bono Legal Service Award at the San Antonio Bar Association's quarterly luncheon. In addition to the $2,500 award, Pauline interned with the Community Justice Program (CJP), the pro bono project of the San Antonio Bar Association. In just her second year of law school, Pauline has made public interest work a centerpiece of her legal education. As a clinical student with the Center for Law and Social Justice Immigration and Human Rights Clinic, Pauline has worked with families living in immigrant detention facilities. This past summer, Pauline worked with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, gaining firsthand experience in immigration court. Since her first year, she has also served as a site coordinator for the CJP's veterans pro bono project, held monthly at Audie L. Murphy Memorial VA Hospital. Pauline is a staff writer on The Scholar: St. Mary's Law Review on Race & Social Justice. Additionally, she is an active leader within the Hispanic Law Student Association, Immigration Law Student Association, and Public Interest Law Foundation. Way to go, Pauline!
