Welcome to the sale
Welcome to the first annual Ladies of Windy Knoll Online Female Sale. This sale has been a long time in the making with our program starting 25 years ago with a Simmental 4H heifer and expanding to our current 180 breeding females. Our program started with purchases from neighbors; Bill and Richard Armstrong and have since added females to our program from across Canada. These females and genetics have come from influential herds like Bar 5, Crane’s, Tryon, Kopp’s, Howard Pine, Lorolin Simmentals, McDougall Cattle Station and Gagnon’s. More recently as the demand for black Simmentals have increased we did our research and made the trip west and have invested in donor females from Rancier Farms and Sunny Valley Simmentals and we are excited to build on those genetics and offer those genetics to you in the future. As an added bonus, all females sell halterbroke.
As the quality of our herd gets better every year, we are excited to offer you a selection of females from the heart of our herd and females that are very tough to part with. The headliner to the Fleckvieh section is an exciting PHS Bank Roll bred heifer that we are confident can have a big impact on a program. A maternal brother to this female sires the open fullblood division on offer. We are excited about our black females and they are headlined by a couple of blaze faced Dew North daughters with new and exciting pedigrees and backed by big time producing dams. Over the years we have carefully selected red bulls to use on our fullblood cows
and have found that the result makes tremendous productive cows that raise calves that weigh up in the fall and have done extremely well in the show ring. Our red September open Outlaw Breaker daughter on offer is a great example of this.
As our bull customer base has steadily expanded, we have decided to also offer our feature bulls in an online sale this March. We would like to welcome you to view our female offering and the bulls that we’ll have for sale this winter at the farm. We are located in Nova Scotia’s picturesque Annapolis Valley, in the windy knolls by the Bay of Fundy and invite you for a tour anytime.
In closing, when I walked across the pasture to purchase my first female 25 years ago, never in a million years did I think that a little girls love for cows would grow from a 4H project to a hobby to a full time career and the genetics we have to offer you now.
On behalf of myself, my Dad; Bruce, and my brother; Ray, we are excited to share with you some of the genetics we have built on and genetics that are the future of our program.
Please don’t hesitate to contact us should you have any questions regarding the offering.
Sincerely, Laura
A good friend told me that you have to sell the ones that hurt to sell. After a lengthy discussion we have decided to offer one of the very best flecks that we have ever raised. Simply put, this powerful beauty is one that should be staying on the farm but we know that she’ll have an impact on a program wherever she ends up. We have retained every female out of her BHR Draco dam who has been a true workhorse for us and is still getting the job done at almost 12 years old. She’s the kind that will make you bulls and very productive females. Carrying an exciting exclusive early service to Anchor T Legend who is selling for $800 plus per straw will be sure to produce a calf for a quick ROI. For those customers farther away we would be open to calving bred heifers out and sending them to you once the calf is old enough. We would manage them like we do our own. AI bred to Anchor T Legend April 13th. Preg checked safe.
This homo polled, big barrelled PHS Bank Roll bred is setting down a nice udder and has all the ingredients to make a tremendous brood cow in a moderate package. She has stood out since she was a calf and is the kind that you just had to put a halter on. Even better is that it only took once and she was broke. She’s so similar phenotypically to her JNR Philosophy dam but even darker red. The Great Guns Mitzi cow on the bottom side adds one more great cow and the service to FGAF Guerrero could be a very profitable token. AI bred to FGAF Guerrero March 25th. Preg checked safe. ▶ Inset Picture: Service Sire FGAF Guerrero 810Y
This heifer has been a pen favourite and screams take me to town…she’s long, hairy, quiet as a kitten and moves like a cat. The cow family that she stems from has been producing powerhouses and she goes back to a Broker cow that just produced the supreme male at the Classic Heritage Beef Show. These Dew North heifers are peas in a pod. They came easy, have loads of style and presence and beautiful hair. Check out her pedigree stacked with notable maternal greats like Dew North, Gold Key, Broker, and Duracell. ▶ Inset Picture: Maternal brother to dam of lot 4, WKF Notion 26K
This soggy, stout, attractive female is out of a cow family that is stacked with power. Her first time RF Merchant dam sure hit it out of the park on this one and she is a female that you couldn’t make any nicer. Her grand dam was shown successfully in the ring and we think that if you wanted to hang a halter on her that this female could certainly follow in her footsteps. Her sire, Dew North, adds a twist to the pedigree and is definitely adding some show ring appeal. Breed her, throw a halter on her and hang some banners in your barn next year.

This is an exciting opportunity to own the first WKF Fully Loaded daughter to sell. We were excited when select sires selected Fully loaded for their semen book. His first group of daughters are getting ready to calve and they’re laying down beautiful udders. The calves came light and easy, have tremendous growth with added style and we feel that this fancy lady is a great example of that. She’s out of a Cobra 2 year old that goes back to a tank of a halfblood cow who we retained every female out of that was out of our first angus cow that we purchased from JT Livestock. She has the sweetest personality and feel she’ll make an excellent junior heifer or a great producing cow….you pick or make her into both! ▶ Inset Picture: Sire of Lot 6, WKF Fully Loaded 1G
This is a female that we really admire for her natural thickness, muscle shape and soundness. Her KOP Gladiator dam is a power cow that breeds true and really got the job done on this one. If you like power cattle we think that this girl will add performance into whatever program she enters and be that broody cow that has the potential to make the power bulls that are so easy to market.
24K is a smooth made, deep sided female that we think is going to look a lot like her tanky Metro dam when she matures. She combines Bravo, Draco and Metro and is bred to be very maternal and has an extra shot of power. Add that along with a great hair coat that is so hard to make and you get a female that has loads of potential.
Dark red, goggle eyed and she grabs your attention every time you walk in the pen. Her JNR Philosophy dam weaned off the heaviest calf last year and goes back to the powerful Gentec Dotty cow. Her grand dam 3W was shown successfully in the ring and has been an extremely consistent producer on both bulls and heifers. Genetic predictability on this one.

First time users will select the REGISTER button from this page. Fill out the registration form to signup for a free user account and it allows you to select a username and password for use on all Farm Gate Timed auctions. If you are a past participant in the Farm Gate Timed auctions simply enter your username and password to continue. This takes you to a list of both current and upcoming Farm Gate Auctions.
2. You can choose your favourite lots in this sale at this time and the program will allow you to open either all sale lots or just your favorite lots on your screen. Any time there is active bidding on a lot you have identified on your favorite list you will get a text and/or an email noting this activity.
3. The program allows you to place a proxy bid on any sale lot. The system will look after your interest to a maximum of $3500. If another bidder is on at $3600, your proxy will no longer be effective and you will no longer have the winning bid on this lot without once again logging in and bidding again or moving your attention to a second lot of interest.
4. At closing time of the sale the entire sale will extend bidding if a bid is placed on any lot in the sale. Any bid received after close time will extend the sale by the time listed on each sale. In Most cases the time gets shorter the longer in to extended bidding the sale is. When no bidding occurs for the extended time the computer will declare the sale finished.
5. Following the sale the Owner or Sale Manager will invoice all buyers in the sale, please contact the seller with questions or to arrange delivery, pick up or shipping of your purchases.

Frequently Asked Questions
What Is Racehorse Style Sale Close? Racehorse style sale close is when the entire sale stays open in extended bidding. This type of sale allows you as the bidder to change to a different lot within the same sale if the bidding has gone in to extended bidding.
How Will Extended Bidding Work? When we get to the close out end time the clock for close extends with any bid placed with less than 5 min on the clock. This type of extended bidding turns the end time to more of a soft time. Extended bidding allows bidders to compete in lots like a real auction and give all bidders the same time to make a decision. Always follow the clock to see how much time remains in the sale you are interested in. DLMS Farm Gate Timed Auctions ~ Mark Shologan Ph: 780-699-5082
