Welcome to Hill Haven’s 2019 Selections Sale This is our 5th bi-annual production sale at the farm. Sometimes, our ten years feels like 10 weeks. Time flies when you love what you do every day. Looking back, we started in 2011 with Kelina as our lead off cow family and through the years her daughter Sierra, granddaughter Breathless and greatgranddaughter Breathtaker have been center stage at each sale, proving the power and longevity of a bona fide foundation cow family. We are proud and pleased to be leading off our sale this year with a double shot of offspring from this impressive family – not only Breathless, Breathtaker and Sierra progeny but also a dozen outstanding females sired by Hill Haven FireStorm, Breathtaker’s son, who has proven himself to be much more than the show-stopping champion of 2017 & 2018 but also a maternal breeding masterpiece. A special thank you goes to Hill Haven’s staff – small in number but mighty - they are the very best. Our herdsman, Matthew Hargrave works tirelessly not only on the farm and with the animals but relentlessly seeking out the next best mating and new genetics. Sami is simply the best co-op, summer student we could hope for. And a very big thank you goes to Shannon whose help is especially appreciated on those winter weekends. Last but far from least, sale week needs many extra hands and we are very grateful for the tremendous job our sale crew does behind the scenes, many of whom have been with us from the start. She reminds us a lot of the Trump heifer we sold in the Revival last year but a little more refined. Lot 1B | Polled. Sierra flushes very well and luckily that means we have more daughters who most often have all of her best attributes. Breathless may be her best offspring to date, but let’s wait and see. She was a front pasture cow that produced several outstanding daughters for us including Verona Vixen. With FireStorm as the sire of these females, we have effectively crossed two of the most maternal cow families at Hill Haven, the Verona’s with the Breathless’ which foreshadows successful brood cow futures for Vivian and Virginia.

Polled. To say we’ve been excited about this heifer since she hit the ground would be an understatement. Her sisters have flat dominated in the ring the past two years, winning Reserve Champion in Toronto and Supreme Champion at Youth Forum. In typical Maria fashion this female has a tremendously soft maternal look yet still has the show ring look. 321B has quickly written her own history book here at Millbrook, and when it comes time for 21G’s chapter, I suggest being the one to write it. When we combined the Waukaru Melita Rose cow family and the Breathless cow family we envisioned exactly what we got – a heifer with femininity and showring eye appeal and as she matures, will transfer into the perfect breeding female.

Flush Lots The Consignor guarantees a minimum of 6 frozen or transferable

embryos per conventional flush. There is no maximum. The buyer receives all embryos produced in the flush purchased. The buyer pays half at sale time and the balance at completion of the flush. The buyer is responsible for all costs associated with the flush including semen, delivery and export costs where applicable.

Genetic Conditions All cattle listed are TH, PHA and DS free unless specifically listed otherwise. Sale lots with known myostatin positive sire or dam have been tested and noted. US Shipments All health documents and border documentation required for the export of live cattle to the US will be provided by the Consignor at no cost to the buyer. At the buyers request, the Consignor will make trucking arrangements to the US at the buyers cost. Canadian Delivery At the buyer’s request the Consignor will make arrangements to have cattle delivered to all points across Canada at the buyer’s expense.

Liability & Insurance Each animal becomes the risk of the buyer as soon as sold.

Purchased animals will be cared for by the Consignor for a reasonable amount of time to be mutually agreed. It is advised that buyers purchase full insurance for the value of the animal. Insurance information will be available at the settlement desk. Neither the owners, employees, auctioneers or sale personnel can be responsible for accidents, but they will make every effort to provide for the safety and comfort of those attending.

Registration, Transfers & Certificate Of Registry All live sale lots are registered

with the Canadian Shorthorn Association. The Canadian registration will be transferred to the new owner and the appropriate Canadian certificate will be furnished for each animal in a timely manner.
