WONDERLAND OF BLOSSOM Exhibition of art kaleidoscope

•• (Introduction)

Through the exhibition of various art kaleidoscopes that aims to invite the audience to appreciate the beauty of this visually stunning craft. Also, this event involves not just static exhibitions, but rather, people could participate in DIY courses, taking home their own creations.

Wonderland of blossom is a fictional exhibition. The theme for this project is the art kaleidoscope. I combined paper with blossom patterns and kaleidoscope to create this stunning visual. As to the key visual, the kaleidoscopic blossom figure was used to catch people’s eyes.

LIGHTING CAFE'BRANDING DESIGN The warmest place at night

Lighting cafe is a midnight coffee shop, which aimed to provide a cozy atmosphere for people to relax even late at night.

Lighting cafe is a fictional shop, which is a vintage and warm cafe’. That is why I decided to morph the graph into the logotype. In addition, the yellow gradient circle symbolized the warm light bulb in the decoration. On the other hand, the dark background is used to represent midnight. Finally, the round stroke of logotype enhances the warmth and kindness of Lighting cafe.

Schools and families are our primary target audience. NMMST provides multiple types of services, such as exhibiting, educating, researching, collecting, and entertaining to the general audience.

National Museum of Marine Science and Technology is a venue for marine science. Therefore, to reflect the given features of the institute, our graphic design combined a container and the ocean together, which symbolize the abundant marine science knowledge in the museum. Waves colored in three different shades, from light to dark, resembles the color of the ocean; it also represents the three goals of the NMMSTknowing, loving, and protecting the ocean.

The ultimate goal of NMMST is to let the audience to know, love, and protect the ocean.

Concept Micro step macro world

Running can change people’s day, people’s lives, even the entire world. However, the most beautiful scenery was under their feet.

Idea Using tiny living cells to symbolize micro steps that the runner takes and the pretty scenery on the way. Material Pictures of living cells, Brooks shoes

With every breath and step, you can explore the little beauty around and feel the joy of living. The cell symbolizes the charming scenery on the road. Just put your Brooks on and get ready to immerse yourself into this macro world within each micro-step with Brooks.

OPERATION ODESSAOPENING SEQUENCE Battle Chase Between Mice and Eagle

•• (Introduction)

Concept Battle chase between three main characters and cops.

This work was an assignment while participating the MOE Scholarship Program for Overseas in Arts and Design.

Idea Since the logo of the cops were often eagles, here I adopt this common depiction, using eagles to represent the cops. In contrast, the three main characters are escaping mice.

In the documentary, the three main characters were running away from the cops.

Material Eagle, mice, cash, strip club

The common elements that were often shown in the film, which are strip clubs and cash, also appear in opening sequences.

The leading roles are like three mice, and they constantly running away from the paws of the eagle.

Nevertheless, the opening sequence implies the betrayal plots at the end of the story.

Concept Cloth of Formosa

Our ultimate goal is to raise awareness of Taiwanese people for our local mosses and liverworts. Through the video, we try to show that it is because of the moss and liverwort that made Taiwan so beautiful. Moss and liverwort grow along the ground, so we consider moss and liverwort as the cloth of the motherland. To express the view, we make a dancing video. The Taiwan land, which is a girl in the video, is wearing cloth with moss and liverwort pattern.

At the end of the video, the girl is joyful because she was wearing beautiful clothes.

Who People who want to know more about Taiwanese delicacies.

Owing to let more people know about Taiwan, we conduct some survey. In the survey we aimed to find out what attracts foreigners the most.After the survey, the data shows that 72.3% of the people are curious about Taiwanese food, so we take Taiwanese food as our main subject. We also found out people like to know more about a new country through Facebook, Instagram and travel. Because the age group of our target audience is between 25 to 35, which coincidentally overlapped with the active users on Instagram, we thus decided to use instagram as our social media platform to promote Taiwanese food, using the account called - Foodtale Taiwan.

Who The younger generation who wasn’t familiar with The Old Farmer's Almanac (lunar calendar)

It is a very intriguing culture that, the senior citizens in Taiwan often choose a wedding date, moving date…. according to the information noted in lunar calendars. However, many young people in Taiwan do not know much about the lunar calendar nowadays. They do not appreciate the rather tightly packed layout of the lunar calendar. Hence, we design a lively and cute version of this traditional treasure.

I made this poster for the 2020 San Diego Latino Film Festival. The image of the festival is joyful, celebratory, and to celebrate equality. Hence, I set the color hue similar to the Pixar movie - Coco. The dark blue background represents the lighting condition during the movie screening. Yellow beams show the light from the movie projection.

The assignment was to “choose a special subject in Taiwan, and design a conceptual poster.” I chose stone from Yehliu as my topic. Stone could be shaped by the force of nature, including wind water and air. In the poster, I turned stone into an island, and the white spaces represent how the stone was initially formed by wind, water, and air.

OBSCURE SORROWMAKE A ZINE ! Reveal the black box of sorrow

•• (Introduction) Sorrow is a universal emotion that all of us share, and people may feel sorrow for all kinds of reasons. However, there is only a limited lexicon describing this ubiquitous emotion in modern languages. To fill the disjunction, John Koening set up an online dictionary - “The Dictionary of Obscure Sorrows.” I took the words from the dictionary as the basis of the zine. In order to heal, people need to both communicate with themselves and with others when feeling down. During this crucial communication, language is indispensable, which could help facilitate the mutual understanding for all parties. I hope this zine could help people understand “sorrow” from different perspectives.
