Andrick and the Magic War

My name is Andrick, and I woke up in my cottage by the sea to another morning of yelling, loud bursts of magic, and colorful explosions. I look in the mirror, my grey eyes half open, scratching my orange beard, smelling the briny ocean outside and hearing the waves crashing on the cliffs below. This is day 536 of the captain’s log and we still have not been triumphant in battle. I decide to walk outside and do my best to help the warlocks in this never-ending fight. As I walk over to the looming structure, I see my friend General Payton getting off her boat. The General came back with another troop. General Payton is a tall woman with blonde, shoulder length hair. She has a round face with violet eyes. She’s wearing a sailor’s suit that is ripped up a little bit. I run up to her and ask, “Is the war getting better overseas, General?” General Payton had attacked the elves at a meeting. “Not exactly,” she says in a gruff voice. “The elves are out of commission. When I took my troop there, we took all of the elf queens’s and kings’s—” Without finishing her sentence, General Payton looks over at someone and says something. Suddenly, a colorful and sparkling tornado comes over the ocean. There is a glint in the tornado that reminds the warlocks of the past. It smells dusty. The General and Andrick exchange a glance and dash to the laboratory. The laboratory is a small, isolated dome in the woods on the outskirts of the warlocks’s village. Inside is a large room with wood floors. It’s like a library with concrete tables and empty wooden shelves. There are mobiles on the ceiling. It’s a cold room. It’s very dusty. Andrick and the General scour the shelves. They find a book that can help save the war. A gust of wind flips the book open to a page containing a powerful spell to harness the wind and conjure a portal into the past. General Payton says, “This is it. This is the book.” Andrick responds, “Shall we try it? It’s a lot to process, but it could work.” Andrick then tries to make the portal. Purple, red, and green light flicker and light up the library. A yellowish-green, swirling portal fills the library. General Payton and Andrick feel themselves being pulled closer and closer to the portal. The whole library flickers and flashes, then everything in the library is still.
