Once upon a time, gingerbread people were imprisoned in glass cases for display by an evil baker. The gingerbread people were going to be sold and eaten. After many years of gingerbreads suffering, one gingerbread decided to stand up after seeing her people imprisoned. She decided to free her people. This gingerbread’s name was Lily. Lily aspired to be the first gingerbread hero. A lot of gingerbread people told Lily that she couldn’t be a superhero. Other gingerbreads had tried to escape but had failed. Lily decided to get the tray that she was forged on and used it to fall down and hide in the cabinets. Lily got very scared hiding in the dark, eerie cabinets and noticed a letter. The letter was from the evil baker’s brother. It said he is going to sell the gingerbreads so he can make a lot of money. Lily was surprised because she thought the baker was the only one involved with the gingerbread, but now she knew the brother is too. She noticed that the letter was recently opened and then heard loud crying. Eventually, she went to investigate. Lily, being very paranoid about the crying, followed a trail of gingerbread crumbs to find a gingerbread resistance group. Lily saw a candy campfire with the gingerbread resistance group having a daily meeting. Lily eavesdropped and heard the resistance group talking about how to free the gingerbread people. Lily walked up to the resistance group members and said, “Hi! How are you doing? My name is Lily. Can I join your group? I want to free the gingerbread people, too.” The resistance group was suspicious about Lily. They decided that they did not want to add any more members and rejected Lily’s request. “But the gingerbread are imprisoned,” Lily said. “We know. We’ve been trying to get them out for a long time.” “I would like to have a team to assist me in saving the encased.” The gingerbread group still wanted to know more reasons that Lily wanted to join, and they explained more about their group so she knew what she was getting into. The group finally decided to invite Lily after a long team thought process. The group would proceed with their plan in the morning. The next morning, they found that the baker locked the cabinet door, so Lily found a toothpick to unlock it. Since it was finally morning, the baker got his first customer of the day. The group heard the two talking and the team knew it was best to execute the plan. The baker was going to go get the gingerbread out. Lily charged towards the front of the bakery—she needed to tell the resistance to hurry before the baker opened the case! The group decided to use the supplies around them to build something to destroy the glass box. They had wood, metal trays, and matches in the case with them, so one of the gingerbread people, a craftsperson, made blueprints so they could build sledgehammers. They used the wood and metal to build gingerbread-sized sledgehammers and used the matches in the display case to set them on fire before using them to break open the glass in the case! When the case broke, the other gingerbread people inside decided to help the resistance to escape. They collected as much sugar as they could and put it in the baker and the customer’s drinks. When the baker and his customer both drank, all the sugar made them fall asleep, so the gingerbread people could escape. Lily and the resistance released all of the gingerbread people before they were sold! Now, they all live together in a tiny gingerbread hut in a gingerbread complex surrounded by other gingerbread homes.
