In Link Bulletin (1 July 2013) Issue No: 05/2013

Dear Parents / Guardians Warm Greetings to all our readers. We look forward to a new term with our students and look forward to your active cooperation and support while we provide guidance and support in learning and character development. 1. School measures with regards to the haze situation The Ministry of Education (MOE) and schools will monitor the haze situation and implement appropriate measures based on the health advisory to ensure the well-being of our students and staff. For example, schools will cease outdoor activities as guided by daily health advisories. The school has made arrangements to set up 2 air-conditioned rooms with an air purifier for staff and students who have heart or respiratory problems and/or who are not feeling well. The school will follow up with parents should the situation arise where parents need to take the child to the doctor. We will also maximize the use of enclosed indoor spaces such as high-ceilinged rooms (e.g. Hall, ISH) and air-conditioned rooms to house students should there be a rise in the PSI during the hours the pupils are in the school. Lessons in school will continue as normal. Should there be a need for school closure; parents will be alerted via a phone call or an sms. The school website will then provide more information when the need arises. 2. Items to get your child to bring along to school In view of the haze situation, we would like to encourage parents to get children to bring along a surgical mask with the medication and inhaler should your child be suffering from any heart ailment or from asthma. As has been the practice, all students must carry a thermometer with a working battery to school on a daily basis. 3. Should the haze situation be bad, school will suspend training. 5. Siblings of pupils in the school who have registered for P1 ( 2014) Parents who have registered the sibling of the present pupil in the school for P1 next year are kindly requested to note that we will be sending out a copy of the duplicate application form as confirmation by 10 July through your child. Please retrieve the copy sent in an enclosed envelope from your child. 6. Hand Food Mouth Disease (HFMD) and Dengue Fever Both the above mentioned diseases are infectious. We would like to thank parents who supported the school in ensuring that sick children were kept at home last term. Moving forward, we need you to be alert as well as we all know that HFMD spreads easily if good hygiene practices are not followed. Please do continue to instill good hygiene habits, such as good hand washing procedures to your children at home. Whilst we would like to assure you that our school is committed to providing a clean and safe child care environment for your children, we would like to appeal to parents and seek your support in taking preventive measures to stop HFMD transmissions: Please conduct daily temperature check and visual screening of your children before sending them to school. If you suspect your child is infected with HFMD, please take him/her to see a doctor immediately. He/she should rest at home until fully he/she has fully recovered and certified fit to return to school. 7. Home Based Learning User Guide for Students Attached is a copy of the above mentioned to support students in Home Based Learning for your reference. We look forward to another term of fruitful collaboration and seek your kind support in encouraging your neighbours or friends to register their children in our school for the P1 Registration Exercise (Phase 2 C) which begins on 30 July this year. Please do feel free to call up the school to seek any clarification.
