BOTTLE UP PROJECT BRIEF JANUARY, 2015 TZU YUN LIU
Every time we use bottled products, the liquid inside always remained. In this situation,we always try to pour the liquid out of the bottles. Some people would try to shake the bottle, others put the bottle upside down for the whole night, but these solutions can’t immediately solve this problem. That’s the reason I design “BOTTLE UP”. You put the bottles on BOTTLE UP, you can always use up the liquid inside.
PROBLEMS Everytime when we use bottles like shampoo and bath gel , the liquid inside is difficult to use up.
Due to the humid weather in Taiwan, it’s always muggy inside the bathroom. If you d irectly put the bottles on the floor,the bottom of the bottles will go moldy easily.
MIND MAP Through developing this mind map, I came up with many different ways of solutions. To sum up, in order to collect the remaining liquid, the bottles must be tilted.

Round notches can hold bottles in different shapes and sizes.
The bottom is a wide surface, so that the load-bearing shelves can be stable.
The thin shelves allow people to carry with ease.
3D MODEL
BOTTLE UP fits every kinds of bottles,the users don’t need to change specific bottled products.It can keep the bottom of bottles away from the wet ground,also can lower the risk to mold.
PROTOTYPE First, using the modeling clay to design the shape of the main body.Then, I used the iron sheets to laser the opening of the shelf, and bending it to the suitable slope. 1. The oblique between main body and ground is 45 degrees. 2. The laser cuts bended to 60 degrees.

Juno is an ancient Roman goddess of marriage and childbirth. I expects that my product can protect and look after babies like Juno. Having newborns are always the happiest thing in the family, but first parents need to prepare a lot of things in advance. For example,crib is the indispensable one.This project is focus on how to improve current crib’s drawbacks. It isn’t only concerned with newborns’ safety,but also parents’ use habits.
PROBLEMS
Parents are the closest caregivers to the newborns. However the design of cribs only consider newborns’ needs. The height of cribs didn’t match the caregivers’ demands, so that caregivers always suffer from lots of aliments like back pain and arm injured.
Current cribs’ life time are limited, because parents have to change new cribs when their children reach the different growth stages. As a result, it will spent a lot of money on buying a new one.

MARKET RESEARCH The category of cribs are diversity on the market. For example, some are light and portable for carry out easily, and others are focus on prolonging the life span of cribs. However the multifunctional crib usually makes up of numerous components which make it hard to compose and change mold. It’s rare to find a crib is convenient to use, and also has the characteristic of multifunction. Therefore my project is aimed to design a simple to transform and functional crib.

TRADITION Taiwan Traditional Crafts-grilles Art
Iron grating window ornament is a unique Taiwanese ornamental style in the 1920s. As the city undergoes restructuring, many such patterns have gradually faded. This is why I adopted iron grating window ornament as the element of my design. The enclosed cribs will cause pressure on infants’ mood. However, the traditional stripe-designed bumper may threaten infants’ safety.Therefore, using the laser cutting machine to cut the grilles art on the bumper, the hollow design let the sunlight to shade different pictures. Also it can stimulate infants’ curiosity and the ability to explore,making the boring wooden bumper more interesting.

This shape is designed for 0 to 6 months babies who hasn’t learne to crawl.
When babies more than 1 year old learning to stand and walk, you can use two bumpers to prevent the baby falling from the bed.
SCENARIO
You can switch the two parts of JUNO to adjust the height of the bed, in order to take care of the newborns that can’t crawl out of the crib.Also, parents won’t have to bend over to hold the newborns. It could also be put next to the parents’ bed during the night. Let babies sleep with their parents, it’s also convenient for parents to look after newborns at night.
When newborns grow up, who don’t need to use the cribs. Parents can rotate JUNO to 90 degrees, turning JUNO to a desk. It heights is around sixty centimeter, and suits for children to use.
The two parts of JUNO can be seperated as bedstead for 4 to 8 year old children.

Have good exercise habits, can have a healthy life. In order to let lazy people can easily exercise at home. You DON’T have any excuse not to exercise wth INFINITY. Its collapsible storage function help you save space in your house, and it’s easy to carry INFINITY all around.
PROBLEMS
Sitting all day is doing you no favours. Taiwan has changed from an agricultural society to an industrial and commercial society, so the number of office workers is increasing, but also the rate of getting civilized diseases. Office workers usually sit in front of the computers and maintain at a particular position for a long time, which lead to a reduction in the amount of exercise. Because of this, many problems are caused such as wrist, neck and back pain. Futhermore, it may cause serious illness. Regular exercise can improve these physical illnesses, but research has found that the number of office workers who have regular exercise are less than twenty percent.

RESEARCH To sum up, for those nine to five office workers, Indoor stadiums can better fit their needs. Let them use their leisure time to exercise, without the influence of weather and time, and cultivate the habit to exercise regularly.

Through the grip, it can record user’s exercise status by calculating their running time and detecting their heartbeats.
INFINITY is light and handy, also has a groove on the bottom of the treadmill, which make it easy for users to fold.
The bottom of the frame is designed of rounded square, it can help the user steady the treadmill not to overturn while exercising.
SCENARIO
INFINITY is a small-size treadmill. Its bottom size is only 110*80 centimeter, which makes it can be accommodated in a tiny space. When the users don’t use Infinity, its groove design on the bottom makes it easy to fold and storage.
When the users don’t use INFINITY, they can fold it and hang up on the wall, so that can save the room’s space. Furthermore,INFINITY is light and handy for moving.
The world is a book, but people do not travel read only one page.
EASE PROJECT BRIEF MAY, 2016 TZU YUN LIU Airport is like a facade of a country.The conveniency and cleanliness of an airport represent the progress of the country. Taoyuan International Airport is the biggest airport in Taiwan.In recent years,the service quality of the airport’s staff is high in the ranking.But the ranking of the airport has been deteriorated, from 18 to 20. Ease is trying to figure out the current problem the airport is facing and solve it. Let you travel with ease.

MIND MAP Through this mind map I found two problems which can be improved and increase the image of Tauyuan Airport, so I listed the problems and do some research.
PROBLEMS
Those parents who travel with a newborn have to prepare a baby cart or baby sling by themselves. Meanwhile if they carry too much luggage,they cannot use another airport trolley at the same time.
Passengers always forget their boarding time. Thus it always causes the airplane delay or the passenger will boad in a hurry.
SKETCH I want to change the original shape of airport trolley, so I design the soft curved structure instead of the rigid square appearance.

The wheels can generate electricity through the rotation.
The trolley can be cross placed, in order to saving storage space.

The radian design can coated the infants and also comfort them.
The baby seat can be assembled easily. Whenever you need to use the seat you just have to buckle it.
The design of the seat belt is two simple and clarified buttons, which is designed for parents to use easily and also protecting newborns fall from the chair.
THE CONVENIENT BRAKE EQUIPMENT Current use of the brake grip in the Taoyuan International Airport is brake lever which needs both hands to operate. However it’s very inconvenient to those who travel with infants or the business customer who needs one hand to reply the important message on time. Therefore, in my project,I change the brake lever into a large area buttons,and also it can be operated by only one hand. The symmetrical buttons are convenient for left-handed people who can choice the left button to release the brake.
THE REMINDER FUNCTION Flight information can be showed on the small screen ON THE HANDLE by scanning the flight ticket, so that people can always pay attention on their boarding time and go shopping in the duty free shop at the same time. It can reduce the probability of delaying the flight take-offsituation. The power of this device is came from the wheels.

Different experience broadens my mind
INTERNSHIP in UK INTRODUCTION The 85th Anniversary project at NCKU with Charnwood Arts. 1. Celebrating identity and sense of place through the 85th Anniversary. 2. Encouraging more students to participate in and consider the university as a whole. 3. Connecting with external and internal communities. 4. Enhancing the creative profile of NCKU.
Workshop Character
This workshop is related to the NCKU project, we use our experiences and life style in college to create what we think can best represent of “University�. In this workshop, I also created two characters that I think can represent mine college experience.
In this workshop I came up with this character. Exploring yourself is a very important thing in university. Not only find out your interest but also your position in the society. In short, you need to know who you are. Another important thing during studying in university is to build good relationships with other people. Having your own contacts and networks will be helpful to you in the future. This character is transformed from two Chinese characters ç´˘ and č„ˆ , which means exploring and relationship. Through design is to make it not only meaningful but also beautiful.
Loughborough Mela In Loughborough Mela 2016, we represents Charnwood Arts to hold a workshop called " Rainning Stick" for children, who can play their own creativity and paint, stick out their own rainning stick. The material of the stick is made of recycled paper tube, which is filled with toothpicks and expired soybeans. As a result, the waste can be recycled from the environment wastage to beautiful instruments.
Children play their own imagination to create their own unique rainning stick. They are very serious but happy in this activity.
Marketing Design Poster The 85th Anniversary project called NCKU Creative Continuum, 85 ways to learn from the past and excel in the future. Thus I sketch the buildings and features in NCKU and local food in Tainan on the poster, in order to call out people’s memory to take part in this activity.
Sharing with people
When I went back to Taiwan, I held a workshop to share my experience, life and culture in UK to students and resident in Tainan. The theme of this workshop is that everyone take their experience and memoriesin Tainan to create a new Tainan map. It can be a food map, visit attractions and so on. Participants will draw their own Tainan map with their impression and daily life in Tainan. In the end, we will combine all maps into a big map to show the common spots or place in participants’ memories.
One of the participant were sharing her childhood memory in Tainan.
Some participants drew places they used to visit in college life or food that can represent NCKU or Tainan.
