I ROAR FOR SURVIVAL - U rb an e ne rg y / Mak e r C e n t e r / M a t e r i a l R e ge n e r a t i o n

PROJECT TYPE : Maker Center STUDIO 7 : Professor Jenny Lin DATE : September 2016 LOCATION : No.322-1, Zhongzheng Rd., Tamsui Dist., New Taipei City 251, Taiwan

Tamsui used to be the most imporant economic center of Taiwan, with the best beautiful seascape and rich historical humanities. However Tamsui 's industrial transfer, only leaving tourism industry and the garbage and the abandoned monuments. We hope that“Roar for survival” (maker center)can be the starting point for Tamsui . By recycling the garbage left by tourists, we can make recycled materials that can be used and provide them to every maker to inject new vitality into Tamsui .At the same time, it will be a special landmark by the architectural appearance that express the unique urban energy of Tamsui, attracting people to arrive here and enjoy the achievements of each maker.

"Metal" is a lightweight and tough material that refracts light in different directions. In the era of digital design, how do we make metal materials express the structural behavior and also showing the characteristics of the material itself. Molded metal unit, in addition to facilitating a large number of digital fabrications, also have tensile structural behavior. Through the structural principle of "tensegrity structure ", each unit is connected by a steel cable and a steel pipe, and polymerize to an architecture having a structural behavior without losing the characteristics of lightweight.

VIDEO WED-SITE

"Indonesia Street" is located within the humble alley next to the Taipei Main Station and serves as a place for the immigrant workers from Southeast Asia. Here are familiar languages, authentic local cuisine, friends and family, for a long time to leave a migrant workers, come here as if returned to their hometown. However, the social space in present-day Indonesian streets is so small that people and vehicles can not cope with the wind and rain and cars are full of exhaust gas. In the future, it will also face the crisis of being more relocated. We hope to solve the problem of lack of social space and legal restrictions through the temporary demolition of modular demountable buildings. The module space of bamboo, apart from responding to the special culture in Southeast Asia, has its own lightweight but structural characteristics that are easy to handle and assemble In addition to providing shade and shelter to migrant workers, the film structure above and side of the micro-structure can also cooperate with the climate-induced airflow to achieve a pleasant interior temperature and adsorb the surrounding exhaust dust to improve the air quality.
