We face an analysis at regional level in the municipality of San Juan de Alicante in order to establish an understanding of the perception of the city through access to it. To do so we focus not only on the town, but start from the understanding of the operation of a unit wide territory, including both the terrain and river flows as the weather or the relationship with neighboring populations.

in these approaches. Finally, through the disintegration of the recognized parties, we note potential and shortcomings in these areas of study, leaving the door open to the next step: convert these scopes of analysis into action scopes.

Conceive all these same elements relevant when weaving a plot in the city will find that we are analyzing. Thus, San Juan is guarded by three large northern mountainous masses, while in the south the limit established by the barrier of the size of the city of Alicante. With strong bond with the Mediterranean it is difficult, or impossible, to see the sea despite the short distance that is. By understanding the networks that link with the town we are able to recognize that access is the most relevant in terms of infrastructure, traffic flow, etc. In addition, to understanding the cultural connotations of some of the elements found

To analyse and study the area of Sant Joan de Alicante, first we delimite and describe a imaginary limit that we called ‘large scope’. This area refer to a those parts that we need to study a serie of characteristics of the land, the society, the vegetation... that we describe later. Maybe for one of this we need a more large scope than others. It’s that because when we study for example mountains or weather we need an large area than we study themes like visual basins or infraestructure, which refer characteristics more specifics.

Study and analysis of enlarge scope area

Since 1996 it tends to stabilize the population, albeit with population gains, mainly due to immigration from Alicante, seeking greater peace, avoiding the crowds of the city.

MAS MENGUAL, Maria; NAVARRO JOERQUERA, Marta; QUINTO FERRĂ NDEZ, Alejandro

Sant Joan has an immigration trend in recent years as we have explained it away prototype Industrial Township. Currently the main source of immigration as seen in the table comes from Valencia itself and specifically the city of Alicante, since practically made her a conurbation. Also highlight the significant increase in foreign immigration, but with the peculiarity of being tourist immigration, mainly from northern European countries, with their own older ages in the town seeking an improvement in weather conditions off the harshest conditions in their countries of origin and that due to the lower cost of living in Spain can achieve greater accommodation.

We can see mainly urban land in the coast and in the towns like Campello, San Joan o the own city of Alicante. Around of them we can see developable land.

MAS MENGUAL, Maria; NAVARRO JOERQUERA, Marta; QUINTO FERRÁNDEZ, Alejandro

Also, we can appreciate that exist a large area of developable land that mix San Joan city to San Joan beach, at this area we can see a lot of developments related with of ‘PGMOU’ of Sant Joan of Alicante “Nou Nazareth”. This part is an important area to develop of Sant Joan due to the beach is an mainly attractor of tourism and consequently, people and economy.

The town of Sant Joan is located in a dry Mediterranean climate dry [also called as subdesert or arid], a variety of Mediterranean climate that is located between the desertic and tipical climate.

MAS MENGUAL, Maria; NAVARRO JOERQUERA, Marta; QUINTO FERRร NDEZ, Alejandro

Warm seasons have average temperatures of around 22 degrees in the litoral areas, being able to arrive to 45 degrees in inland areas producing heat waves. In the cold seasons the temperature range between 5ยบ and 18 degrees. The average annual temperature is always located around 18 degrees. The rainfall is scarce, making an average of 200 and 400 mm and are mainly in cold seasons, resulting in dry and hot summers. This kind of weather is typical of other regions of the peninsula such as Murcia and Almeria.

Within studies of physical-ecological environment, knowledge of the soil and, above all, of its features plays an important role; and this, because the soil is the support of human activities on the land. Especially, for determining its usability by farming.
