The Minister of the Interior recently met with different officials from the United States to share Guatemala’s security agenda and analyze the regional challenges.

The working sessions were very productive and strengthened the two countries’ ties. The results were possible thanks to the exchange of information with the U.S. Government agencies and the inter-institutional work of the agencias del Gobierno estadounidense y el trabajo interinstitucional entre las carteras del Interior, el Ministerio de la Defensa Nacional y el Ministerio Público.
Por ello, el objetivo de reforzar el compromiso de trabajar de manera integral con EE. UU. se ha cumplido, lo cual redunda en mejoras en la lucha contra el narcotráfico, la migración irregular, trata de personas, para construir en una Guatemala más segura, pues es el país que todos queremos.

In conclusion, we have fulfilled the objective of strengthening the commitment to comprehensive work with the United States. As a result, this will improve the fight against drug trafficking, irregular migration, and human trafficking, making Guatemala a safer country, which is what we all want.
