Cuatro aduanas entre Guatemala y México serán fortalecidas, con el fin de agilizar el comercio entre ambas naciones, informó el presidente Alejandro Giammattei durante su gira de trabajo por Ayutla, San Marcos.

“Esos cuatro puntos fronterizos que trabajaremos de manera conjunta con México, después de años de estar buscando la integración, serán una realidad gracias al apoyo del gobierno del presidente Andrés Manuel López Obrador”, indicó el mandatario.

Exportaciones

El jefe de Estado recordó que el 72 por ciento de las exportaciones de Guatemala a la vecina nación son hortalizas y plantas comestibles, seguido de plátanos y bananos, así como productos de origen animal y derivados de la leche.

La integración de los puestos fronterizos contribuirá a agilizar el traslado de mercaderías, bienes y personas, se remarcó.

“La puesta en marcha de las aduanas conjuntas será un gran paso para hacerles más eficientes, transparentes y mucho más ágiles las importaciones y exportaciones desde México a Guatemala o de Guatemala a México”, manifestó el gobernante guatemalteco.

En el primer trimestre de 2022, las exportaciones a México ascendieron a US $171.4 millones, y la vecina nación se ubicó como el cuarto mercado más importante para el país, después de Estados Unidos, Centroamérica y la Eurozona, de acuerdo con el Banco de Guatemala (Banguat).

President Alejandro Giammattei, during his working tour in Ayutla, San Marcos, informed that four customs offices between Guatemala and Mexico will be reinforced to speed up trade between both nations.

“After years of seeking integration, these four border points will work jointly with Mexico. This will be a fact thanks to the support of the government of President Andrés Manuel López Obrador,” said the President.

He mentioned that the integration of the border posts would facilitate the movement of merchandise, goods, and people.

The President of Guatemala emphasized that “the implementation of the joint customs will be a great step to make imports and exports from Mexico to Guatemala or from Guatemala to Mexico more efficient, transparent, and much more agile.”

Bilateral trade

In the first quarter of 2022, exports to Mexico reached US$171.4 million. The neighboring nation was the fourth most important market for the country, after the United States (US), Central America, and the Eurozone, according to the Bank of Guatemala (Banguat, acronym in Spanish).
