Fredy Murphy, a storyteller

Freddy Murphy found his true passion ten years ago: photography. After taking many family trips and photos, he took, one of them won first place in a contest at the Guatemalan Institute of Tourism (Inguat) in 2008. Since then, he has been sharing his images.

“I don’t present myself as a photographer because that’s what all of us with a mobile are; I’m a storyteller who uses pictures as a language,” he said.
A school of photography
During his time in Europe, he realized that the country needed visual education. So, he implemented a sensory training program that he simultaneously included in his School of Photography
Fotografía Efe in Guatemala, which he founded with his wife.
Murphy has participated as director of documentary photography and photographer for investigating Nazi crimes in Lithuania, Poland, Russia, Macedonia, and Romania. He has also won national and international awards and recognition from the Guatemalan Ministry of Foreign Affairs as an Honorary Cultural Delegate, awarded.
